Interesting fact..Gino Quilico's mother, the pianist Lina Pizzolongo-Quilico studied with Alfred Cortot, and Alfred Cortot studied with Louis Diémer, who was ever-present in the "Salon" of Gioacchino Rossini in and gave many first performances of his later compositions.
Wonderful! What production is this? Who sings the title role? I bet Dandini is better than the prince...I'm joking as I have no idea who sings the prince.
Unbelievable poor performance (especially for Salzburg Festival) And because it was asked / mentioned: No, this Dandini was of course not better/or equal/or anything to the prince (sung by Araiza) I was there live in the audience! full data for interests: Salzburger Festspiele 1988 Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under Riccardo Chailly Angelina: Ann Murray Don Ramiro: Francisco Araiza Dandini: Gino Quilico Don Magnifico: Walter Berry Alidoro: Wolfgang Schoene Clorinda: Angela Denning Tisbe: Daphne Evangelatos
You nothing of technique if you describe Louis' voice as "throaty". He had a huge voice and was an exemplar and teacher of classic bel canto technique. He was all about breathing and projection. "Throaty"? Hahahaha!
To be fair he was probably miscast in this buffo-coloratura role. There is a superb performance of Valentin here on YT. But you are right - he faded fast. Pity, it was (during his best period) a very beautiful voice
Niente da dire sulla voce….. ma sull’interpretazione non si può sentire… è semplicemente schiavo del suo talento…. Per non parlare poi dei tempi portati molto lenti, molto probabilmente per agevolare i cantanti.

Wow! What a fascinating detail! Such an extraordinary legacy: 3 generations from Rossini himself!!
What an amazing Baritone! Gino Quilico is an inspiration!
1982 Salzburg Festival ;)
bravo, anzi bravissimo Quilico è Dandini
Dandini is Gino Quilico...I have no Idea who is the prince...
I love Gino Q. I have a DVD with him in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Wonderful Figaro!
libertango Sono perfettamente d'accordo! È anche vero che è il miglior Figaro di sempre! Concordi?
Francisco Araiza
Einfach intergalaktisch.
Perfect
Perle nere

The role of la Cenerentola in this production is Ann Murray--in Salzburg 1988. Francisco Arraiza plays the Prince.
@@jackishman7707 Thank you!
Scusa, perché (addirittura) non si può sentire?
I guess the prince must be Araiza...

il figlio - un tenore corto .
il padre era bravissimo baritono vero .

Just the usual envious blabla. RUclips voice experts are somehow the modern pest...
Well, a little operatic nepotism that didn't go far. GQ rose quickly and faded as fast. Hearing how he sings this one can understand why.

GQ was miscast in this role
Scusa, perché?
