This is so scary. She's been in her space. She knows where she's delivering. She's probably asked probing questions into their past. She knows where they live and they will feel on alert till she's found. Even after the birth. This woman has taken the safe space they were bringing their baby to. I'm so sorry they are going through this and hope she is found quickly.

I used to work for CPS and when I first listened to this in the full episode I knew something was off from the start!! In child trafficking it’s very common to request babies with certain characteristics. (Complexion, hair color, eye color, sex, etc) it’s very likely that the couple was targeted because of this, and the reason why she wasn’t sure if she’d take the baby yet was because they were waiting to see if it had the characteristics the buyer wanted. Thank god for the people who told her to contact a lawyer!! This could’ve gone so bad, so fast. Unfortunately, the system is VERY broken. It’s part of the reason I left.

I really enjoyed working one on one with families. That being said, my caseload was insane and I was burnt out really fast. CPS has a high turnover rate, rightfully so. It’s a very emotionally draining job. When I was there a lot of my cases were p*dophillia related, it was a lot to stomach. While CPS is a broken system, it’s not going to fix itself. We NEED good people to take on that job. If you feel that person is you, DO IT! Good luck, and congrats on graduating in December!!

Told me I had to take a drug test and wanted to go a home check. I said absolutely not and she could come back with the police if she wanted inside. She never came back and DHS said they never had a report on me. She gave me a fake name of course. They never found her and I moved out of my parents shortly after.

Not in all states. Cops come last. After case is closed or if there is abuse and the children are in immediate danger. The case worker comes first, she/he notifies and reports to their supervisor and then they make a decision whether to continue with the case. The case is mandatorily open for about a month… but if drug allegations are made two (drug) officers will be in contact within the week the case is being closed out on. CPS will indeed investigate a (pregnancy) if the mother has issues.. but nothing can ofc be done until the child is born. Which is why you have a DCF worker usually on the floor when you give birth.

theres a case in mexico similar to the one they were talking about (georgia tann), its the case of an orphanage called La Gran Familia (i think) and the owner, who everyone called Mamá Rosa, accepted kida without a home or children so poor their parents just couldnt financially support them, she promissed to take care of them and the public thought the kids were being taken care of and were living wonderful lives, they even donated enormous amounts of money, clothes and food for them, but in reality she was stealing all the money giving nothing to the kids, letting some of them d1e from hunger or illnesses, letting men come in to r4pe the girls and if one of them got pregnant, most of the time the babies would d1e as newborns and they would bury them in the property. its just a horrific case and the worst part is that police and the goverment were allegedly involved

Oh my god this reminded me of this time I was watching a crime show with my mom. This lady who was obsessed with this guy, didn't want him to break up with her, so she pretended to be pregnant with twins, pretended to go to the hospital alone, pretended one of the "twins died in birth", and then posed as a social worker that aids young mothers, went to a young girl's home, and kidnapped the baby and killed the mom. It was literally so fucking creepy.

Most maternity wards (unfortunately not all) will have bracelets that the babies have on that will automatically lock down to ward if taken to close to the doors. You also have to be authorized to even get near an infant. As well as other precautions to keep the infants separated.

My baby NEVER left my side. I had my mother and his father in the room with me and made it clear that neither of them was to take their eyes off of the baby. They did shots and hearing test in our room and the one time a nurse offered to take the baby out of the room for shots, An hour after he had already received his shots, I immediately told her to leave the room and wanted a new nurse. I made it clear in my chart that no one other than myself and his father were to leave the room with him. People are not well informed of your rights as a parent in the hospital and they really should be before choosing where to deliver… the only way my baby would have been away from me was if he had life threatening emergency..

It sounds like someone went to a lot of trouble to match up old police records with pregnant women or their partners and targeting them specifically based on that. The kind of sad thing.... at least in PA ... if you're in poverty and on medicaid you get support systems that would make that kind of scam very difficult to pull off. The fact that they were doing well made them vulnerable.
