Insert the usual fun fact: “Appa’s Lost Days" won a Genesis Award from The Humane Society for it's message on advocating for animal rights and opposing animal cruelty.
What is genesis award?
@traceyedits that's what made thias episode special in the eyes of the Humane Society
@AnimeCritical you've asked multiple comments just fucking Google it
Thank you for the "usual fun fact" cuz everyone comments stuff like that like they just knew which some probably does, but others know they just seen someone else comment it 😭
@@cjjackson2423 I think they just meant that they usually comment fun facts.
I love how after making us all cry our eyes out with "Leaves from the Vine" with the previous episode, instead of getting back to a lighthearted tone, they really said "Nah let's destroy them even more with the next episode"
They really kicked us while we were down
Next one too.
@@adarshsaseendran2199 3 back to back episode of just straight up trauma
They pulled out that Steve Rogers and said "I can do this all day"
Then a few episodes later they hit us with The Guru
"I am Guru Patik"
"Who is that"
"Guru Patik"
Love the touch of Guru Pathik asking Appa for his permission to attach the note to his horn. To really show his respect after all the suffering he’s been through.
I always love and make note of this. It’s a small thing but him asking permission really shows more respect than most.
i also love how Guru Pathik stays laying on the ground, lifting his head a little to see Appa's reaction, and waiting until Appa is more comfortable
Its so sad that Aang will never know what Appa went through at the circus.
tbh it's probably better that way
@@famillyjewels you saw how Aang reacted when Appa was merely muzzled. Bro would go FERAL if he found out.
Part of me wishes he did cuz aang would've gone back and avatar stated them to oblivion (which would be so satisfying) but I'm happy he doesn't know, sparing him the hatred and heart ache
My favorite part of these last 2 episodes is we see people talk from both momo and Appa’s perspective. In Momo’s they are speaking gibberish but appa actually hears the words. I think that shows that Appa is much more intelligent and understands people… to a certain degree
i just binged all of your avatar reactions so I really waited for this one, it's an emotional episode
I usually only watch reactions to this show when it's all done and uploaded but I really like the way you guys do it, first of all the quality of the video is better than a lot of reactors (you don't cover the show too much, the structure of the video is good) plus your disscussions are great, you really understand together the story, the characters, you don't just recall what you just watched
keep it up!
We really appreciate it! Glad youre enjoying our videos
“In 2007, the Avatar: The Last Airbender episode "Appa's Lost Days" won a Humane Society Genesis Award in the category of "Outstanding Children's Programming". The award recognized the episode for its depiction of animal cruelty in the Fire Nation circus, which the episode's writers described as a "mythical tale about animals held captive for human entertainment" that resonates with the use of animals in circuses today”
What is genesis award?
@@AnimeCritical actually you can search on google but I can copy for you
The Genesis Awards are awarded annually by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to individuals in the major news and entertainment media for producing outstanding works which raise public awareness of animal issues.

The Ju Dee jump scare at 15:53 was foul LMAO
Tfw you realize there's a guy who literally gets paid by standing in the recording booth for hours making the sounds of a flying bison and a winged lemur.
A: "this is wrong... he looks like a modern-age pokemon now..." C:"... evolved like 7 times..." the way I LOST MY SHIT 😂😂🤣
tales of ba sing se and appas lost days is such a brutal 1, 2 combo punch to the gut
This episode is what officially triggered the start of my teenage angst
It was Zuko Alone for me
You became zuko basically
I cried so much watching this episode 😥
I have a soft spot for animals.
Thanks for the reactions ❤
@@nilexinator5901i see where this is going so i'm not answering to that question.
@@nilexinator5901ofc he wont answer this q
Suki and the Kyoshi warriors were supposed to be one-off characters but were so popular they started to find ways to write them back in in season 2
Fans: Where is Appa?! We wanna know how Appa's doing! SHOW US APPA!
Bryke: Be careful what you wish for
Even watching this ep over and over, even with reactors it always makes me cry😭
See, I did a full rewatch of this show with my sister. She absolutely loves Appa and always disliked the treatment of animals in circus. So when we got to this episode, I was like "Oh boy..."
I can feel her rage from here
this episode broke me when it premiered on TV, I still can't watch this episode without crying like a baby
Rewatching this through your guys' reactions, it's crazy how many AoT similarities there are 😅
But this came way before AOT
There's a video by Pilgrim's pass on YT about the similarities
one of the best episodes of TV ever 😢❤
So much empathy and story for a character who doesn't say a word! Brilliant!
Avatar came out before AoT, i wonder if it inspired it
Most likely not, the similarities are probably just a coincidence given that they are both about the same thing
I’m looking forward to more videos from you guys! I can’t wait for you guys to see how things work out
The second season of Oshi no Ko has been released!!!!!
The Tales of Ba Sing Se reaction:
Ange: Still no news on Appa.
Carlie: They probably sold his organs on the black market.
2:57
This episode broke me when I was like 6 and now than I am in my twenties it still makes me cry every time
Another tearbender episode. It gets me every time I watch it, so I cried along with Carlie again. As hard as this episode is to watch, it's still really good and it was nice to have an episode dedicated to Appa after we hadn't seen him in a while. Glad you guys got to see more of how awesome Suki is too. Someone's obviously still having fun with those Joo Dee jumps scares. 😂
The Joo Dee jumpscare gets me everytime 😫
Great reaction!
Heart breaking!
Putting this episode and the previous one, with Leaves from the Vine being sung, back to back in the season was a dastardly move by the creators.
ATLA gives us Leaves From the Vine last episode, and now we have to watch Appa suffer this episode. This was such a brutal 1-2 emotional gut punch when it first aired, and it made me go hug my dogs.
Once again Suki comes in clutch
One of the saddest episodes in this book
Appa's Lost Days is an absolutely beautiful episode!
Season 2 is full of incredible moments. The show has only gotten better since Season 1.
The passion of Appa
Jesus! Ju Dee jump scare got me!! 😂😂
4:23 I genuinely wonder if this statement is a throwback to that Haru coal mine episode where that warden asked "is this a buffalo or a bison". If there is something called a "wind buffalo" or something similar even in that universe and if an airbending avatar is out there, it'd be natural to know whether a creature is a buffalo or a bison exactly.
"Wind bending"
Omg that yu di cut will become a subliminal message
This is the most heartbreaking episode 😢
love the coincidence with aot
I feel that pain Carlie 💔
Not the jo dee jumpscare again 💀
I told you there was an underground black markeeeetuuuuh.
Forget aang. I thought Carli was gonna kill some people when they called appa a "wind buffalo" and not a sky bison. 😮😬
8:30 That's a boar-q-pine btw
I don't have any pets and never have, but watching Appa get taken and then what happened to him afterwards had me feeling saddened, enraged and heartbroken like I had one😢
You should visit a slaughterhouse. Or watch a video. You will never look at kfc the same way.
Suki knew she was outmatched vs Azula... and she STILL went in for all the smoke! 💯💯💯💯💯
They could have made it Katara's dad on the ship, but it was just a random Water Tribe man part of his fleet.
Momo was not able to bring water, so...😊
It's 2024. Time to admit that the guru is the real hero of season 2 🤷
It's time ladies and gentlemen
The double uploads ❤😊 we are in for a treat 😃
Appa from the vine
This episode pissed me off but it was amazing. The bond between Aang and Appa is heart melting
This episode and the previous also show that Appa understands human speech, but Momo doesn't.
Suki mvp
Watched a movie called "Croupier" last night. The actress in it Alex Kingston looks just like Carlie it was tripping me out 😂😂😂
Spoilers!
8:13 It's a Boarcupine ☝️🤓
2:56 calm down guys, they said "sell him FOR parts", Not "sell him IN part" 😱
"similarities with Shingeki no Kyojin"... just have in mind that avatar is around 5 years older 😅
👍🏾
Komodo salamander dragons 🤩🤩🤩
THE HEKKIN JOO DEE JUMPSCARES 😂😂😂
Waiting for Oshi no ko ss2
This and the desert episode is 2 episode I skip when I was kid watching on tv. Because it's hurt for young me watching Aang angry because losing appa in desert and of course I no need to say the reason for this episode, it's just so hurt to watch 😭
👍👍👍👍
Now see, the last episode makes a lot of people cry, but then they think the next episode might lighten then up. NOPE. Animal Trauma! For some people, this episode makes them cry more than the Iroh segment last episode. Avatar wasn't playing around man.
I watched this as a kid....this pretty much triggered my maternal instinct towards every single helpless fictional character I'd ever see
So sad
First ❤ at least on yt
hahahah hi on drugs hahahaahahahahaha
it says this was uploaded 11 seconds ago, how are there comments from 3 weeks ago?
you guys should react to the jojo openings
man i love appa so much i hate it here
I'm 14 miuites late, what did I miss?
Remember guys, Azula is already in the Ba Sing Se area, she came with the drill.
Seriously please....reaction oshinoko season 2 ! Is has come out guys! 🎉🎉🎉
ATLA predates the AOT manga by a few years, so any similarities you see are AOT being influenced by ATLA, not the other way around. I think that's unlikely, though, as ATLA was inexplicably not a big hit in Japan nor South Korea.
reaction kuroko no basket and moriarty the patriot🙏🏻🙏🏻
Was not expecting a Joo Dee jumpscare this episode. Almost knocked me out of my chair. 😱
Not the Jou Dee jumpscare 😭
Thanks for the warning 😂
13:49 This has the same pacing as FMAB, from the feel of it. You don't feel like you have watched barely anything substantial after watching an episode, unlike a lot of modern anime.
Big fan of you guys❤
15:52 nice jumpscare lol
im loving the ju dee jumpscares 😂😂
The Joo Dee jumpscares 😂😂😂
I'm almost sorry to say it. But I loved seeing you so uncomfortable. You're good people.
We stan Guru Pathik in my house.
Youre almost halfway through book 3 on Patreon so no spoilers here. When Aang ran away from the Air Temple it was because the monks said they were sending him to the Eastern Air Temple to train to be the Avatar. Guru said he had a vision and came to the Eastern Air Temple to train the Avatar so its theorized Guru possibly waited 100 years for Aang to show up.
You just have to love how basic ass tropes like "inclosured society holds dark secrets" and "tree is a sacred/meaningful place" are what you call similar to Attack on Titan 😂
React to Alya sometimes hides her feelings in Russian
Surprised you guys ar wonky watching this show now, will have to start rewatching your channel cause demon slayer just isn’t it
guru pathik is the BEST Atla character. Just you wait.
This episode is such a cheapshot on writer's end lol Animal hate, pedophilia, nazis, etc. are certain triggers that we can't help but feel bad for or feel good about. Not saying that the episode is bad - surely, that shouldn't be a conclusion in your head after reading this comment
