Mykur is one of the most unique artists I've heard. Brilliant at playing unusual traditional instruments, some of the best folk and metal music I've ever heard are songs like nordys and oden borne. Mykur, kati ran, feverray and aurora plus some badass custiodans here and then and I think us nordics of many variations are here to stay.
I didn't think it was possible to top.Folkesange, but she did it. This is amazing. Heavy, folk, her voice everything!!! The only negative is that it's super short.
Luckily I have seen the play by Det Kongelige Teater in Kopenhagen, for which this is the soundtrack! It is worth mentioning, that both Maja Shining (bass, keys, vocals) and Mikkel Haastrup (guitar) from @ForeverStill as well as Kristian Uhre (drums) were part of this recording. Listening to it brought back scenes from the play (which will be staged again next year in Aarhus 24th May - 29th June 2024)! Really worth visiting, also because all musicians mentioned above perform live at every show!
This soundtrack is from the theatrical outdoor play ragnarok in Ulvedalene north of Copenhagen. Just returned from it with my 7 year old son, such a cool experience! ...bonus: he had his first Metal concert 🤘☠️
I was gifted by an amazing surprise this morning: this new Myrkur's highly impressive - and also intriguing - work. After the awesome 'Folkesange' ( Myrkur's style I really love, in fact I don't like metal in general ), I felt she wouldn't completely abandon 'black metal', but rather re-introduce some 'metal' approach into her, let us say, 'folkesange' and melodic style - but following a new approach. And suddenly she did it, and after listening to the new work twice, I think she did it highly successfuly ! An album (EP) replete with contrasting styles and, curiously very short pieces. From extremely delicate piano and vocal tunes to apparently 'metal' (?!?) pieces - I say "apparently" since to me (I'm a non professional progressive 'avant garde' guitarist), though the guitar approach is 'metal like', the melodic structure of the songs IS NOT METAL, they are highly elaborated pieces and full of surprises. No doubt, Myrkur once again just added another very important contribution to contemporary music. And I know it will be controversial, but I think this is VERY, VERY GOOD ! All the best and thank you !
Both Folk and the Metal music by Myrkur are absolutely beautiful.
I think this is the very post version of what she did before

I love this new album, but all of this stands under the shady green leaves of yggdrasil 😊
Музыка, за душу берёт, очень сильно круто.
Wow 😮 absolutely Fucking badass epic 🤘🏻🤘🏻Valhalla
Shame it's not available on CD.
Where is the bass drum? It's so quiet
Why is this called a soundtrack? Is there a movie this is attached to?
It's a soundtrack to a Danish theater play
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Ragnarok...hmm......
Tbh I keep seeing their name as Marker
folk+blues? northern + southern? Interesting, it's still kinda taboo))
Norse pagan ≠ Synth auto-tune.
Very boring album. 😴
