Hotwheels have a decent amount of detail for the price, a great amount of detail for the price at that. I have over 1000 mainline hotwheels I’ve collected over the years, some loose, quite a few in the packaging, very few are duplicates. For those to be mini gt it would be 22 time more expensive. Even premiums are only 5 dollars so again Theres a price difference that relates to quality. Both are great theres no wrong way to collect toy cars as long as it makes you happy.
Yes i know this one that i got is pricier, but some minigt also go for $13. Yes the price is the pinch point. But by being expensive you will become selective and dont end up with like 1000 hw mainlines

That is really annoying for a hobby (so far I have a hobby of mechanical keyboards and audio gear, when I just wanted to try the diecast hobby, the middleman's game in this hobby made me think twice) Btw, lately I've noticed that many middlemen are starting to get desperate because of the many restocks and new models that are the same in every different brand, and that makes me satisfied 🤣
Hi, Hot Wheels Premiums start from 6.50 USD Mini GTs start from 12.00 USD Obviously a better quality, but not for two times the price. Have a nice day.
Mini GT is certainly nice with beautiful details, Hot Wheels is a cult however, and isn’t going away. That said I’ve become incredibly particular in the models I actively look for/collect
While i love mini gt models and their details, my perception has always been that their models are more 'fragile'. Hotwheels have always been built for robustness in mind. I know I'd be less stressed out if my kid suddenly grabs a hold of my hot wheels as compared to my mini gt models. Just look at the spoiler - yes minigt is more detailed and accurate but it looks like it will break by just sneezing at it haha. But the details are still fantastic though, admittedly!
Mini GT is just a downgrade version of Team Caliber who made NASCAR’s in the early 2000’s. Exactly why I laugh at people who collect Mini GT. They’re fragile as an egg, I can shoot hotwheels out of a cannon and still play with them after.
Bcuz hotwheels is a TOY brand, and MiniGT is a COLLECTION brand, MiniGT's castings are collection pieces with a lot of detail made to admire and NOT to play.
@@HelloMyNameIsAxl and you are absolutely right on this point and this is what i notice a lot of toy reviewers don't point out enough of. They straight up just compare details between both and say minigt is straight up better. Each has their own use case depending on what you want. If you want display pieces that are more robust and double up as actual toys, hot wheels is the way to go. But if you care purely about details and dont mind finnicky bits and pieces, then minigt will be your choice.
I dont even look at Hotwheels any more.. I grew up on them but the scalpers and the prices IM like what am I paying for? Minigt and others are cheaper and more detailed!!!
I have that exact one!But they really need to improve quality on the side mirrors and the spoilers on some cars, because ive got the R35 Goodwood Festival one and one side of the spoiler isnt fully, lets say clicked into the spot where its supposed to go.
@yongling9825 If you know the S15 Goodwood Festival, then it is very similar to the R35 i mentioned.Try searching "MiniGT R35 white and yellow" since i dont think adding "Goodwood Festival" would show results on Google.
💯 …. and the word on Mini GT is getting out, which is only driving the prices higher. Unlike HW’s they can also be truly limited with production numbers in the low four digits. Currently, HW’s are enjoying all time high prices but I’m seeing those values starting to decrease on the way back to earth. Mini GT is bucking the trend and seems to be steadily increasing on the secondary market. It’s niche but they’re rocking that JDM fanboy base like a cash cow.
Hot Wheels decals are so low resolution while Mini GT and other brands decals are so crisp and sharp. For the price, of course Hot Wheels are lower hence the quality and details and lower. Also forgot to mention, scalpers. Maybe won't able to find one models that you want or even have to get "sets" or even "cases" for that. But for the satisfaction of holding one on your hands with so much details it's priceless. I am slowly transition to better details 1/64 diecast like Mini GT, Kaido House and others.
It's expensive for us here in the Philippines, just for Bugatti Gran Tursimo Vision will cost us 1000 Php. While blue bugatti bolide hotwheels only cost 400 php.
@MCRBLXPlayer it's not when you know where to find and buy one. One of my friends bought a blue one recently for P200 from a FB group with resellers that sells cheap despite of scalpers ruining market pricing.
I almost don’t see premiums anymore at my local WalMart or Target so who cares. Scalpers takes them all and leave the ugly piece of $hit behind. These store don’t carry miniGTs so I QUIT.
You know... I really really love Hot Wheels, but... with the scalper prices of some premium and mainline releases, it's becoming more and more of a hassle to collect. Just last month, a guy in my city grabbed a whole box of Cyberpunk Porsche 930s $10 each, and surprise surprise, they magically popped up for $30 each on local listings site. Recent release of RWB Porsche 930 from Silhouette set also was sold out everywhere, and goes for $30-$40 on second hand market. I'm seriously considering switching to collecting MiniGT, AutoWorld and other 1:64 brands. They're slightly more expensive, but at the same time, the details are much better than HW, and they scale nice, cause most of those brands are true 1:64, while HW is closer to 1:61 and can have really weird proportions. Not to mention, some are cheaper than Hot Wheels. For example, AutoWorld Toyota Supra MK4 costs about $15, you can open the hood.. and the RLC Hot Wheels version costs over $60, and from what I've seen, you can't even close the hood properly on many of them.
Yes HW no longer fill me, im still going to get hw but not at the same enthusiasm as before. Definetly MiniGt has my attention now. Thanks so much for watching 🥰🥰
@@Lar.Real.Diecastfrom MiniGT, I'm definitely gonna get a Skyline, $15 ain't that much. I will probably get some HWs too along the way, but not as frequent.
and then... Lark Riality upgrade into True Scale 1:64 has gone spiral into a rabit hole deeper than the Ice berg after this video. From Mini GT to Pop Race, then Tarmac Works then Inno64 then down all the way to PGM, Ignition Model, FuelMe and MY64... There's no Going back back now mate, there's no goiing back now. your in the rabbit hole of extreme detail in 1:64 scale.
Sadly people in my country had done that, with most Kaido House castings, older releases like LB R35, Mk4 Supra, E30 M3, etc. and most recent Porsche GT3 RS castings.
You have to remember that at the end of the day, Hot Wheels is just a toy. Mini GT is way more sophisticated. A better choice for adults. But the Hot Wheels version is very nice. You can put it in your pocket whereas the mini will break the spoiler if you did that.
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. MiniGT will never have the following that HWs have among adult collectors and kids. The thing that makes HWs so desirable is that it connects many of us to our own childhood. We buy them more for that reason than to just have something to display on a shelf. I bet you that MiniGT will be out of business within a couple years while HWs and Matchbox will be around for decades.
@@TheCrazyMoparDude68 Tomica and Kyosho had been selling some premium line like MiniGT for years. Are they out of business? No. There is a huge market for detailed 1/64 especially in Asia.
I started collecting MINI GT two years ago, and the price, quality control, and detail are perfectly balanced compared to Hot Wheels Premium/Elite/RLC. On one hand, I'm happy that more collectors are discovering MINI GT, but on the other hand, I don't want the prices to skyrocket. Regardless, the quality control of HW, especially RLC, is a JOKE.......
I dunno but the reason why HWs (specially mainlines) is the price. Is way more difficult to be a scalper for minigt due to the price range. Thanks so much for watching
Im sorry, but hotwheels all the way. The fact that hotwheels makes you go out and hunt is the exciting factor rather than sitting at your couch tryna preorder a random minigt. Its the fun that we get from these experiences thats why we collect diecast brands that are sold in flagship stores. To address the problem of scalpers, ur pretty much just unlucky. Scalpers are also humans who need time to eat whatsoever and have their own commitments so its impossible for them to constantly be at the stores. You just have to be good at the game. Spectraflame paint is also another thing which is special to hot wheels and makes it stand out, with examples like the chevy c10 RLC giving off a retro and a real collector’s vibe
I love your videos man. You have one hell of a great sense of humor and you are quite entertaining. That all said, I’ll never switch from HW’s. I’m in too deep man. Over 500 premiums collected over 18 years. I 100% agree though that you simply MUST be selective. You really MUST specialize or you’ll end up with tons of crap you no longer want and cannot get rid of besides using the trash can. I only collect REAL premiums with Real Riders. Not this silver line junk. Also, I only collect U.S. muscle and U.S. pickups. And even then I have almost 500 releases I’m still trying to catch up on going back to the mid to late 90’s!!! Lastly, I strongly suggest knowing what your display style will eventually be. (I use and recommend wall cases.) Otherwise, you’ll end up with boxes upon boxes of cars in the closet, under the bed, or in the cellar or attic. If that’s your case then you must ask yourself, what was/is the point? If you cannot look at them and enjoy them on demand then you will almost certainly lose interest and/or just burn out. That’s my two cents. Thanks for your videos. I appreciate them and your content is getting more and more known and liked by fellow collectors.
$7 versus 22 I bought many mini GTS some good some bad I would not say there were just not buying Hot Wheels premiums bang for the buck Hot Wheels premiums are still better.
In my case, it's $8 vs $11. Few years ago, it's even more appealing with $8 vs $8. It's actually one of the reason why I started collecting Mini GT since it's a no-brainer to get better details with similar price
I love all of the people trying to justify buying these over HWs, 😂😂😂. HWs will always be more popular as a collectible than any other 1:64ish die cast, with MB being close behind. The reason is that you can buy them for so much less than brands like MiniGT, Greenlight, Jada, and other brands that start at $6-7 each. You can blame scalpers for ruining things, but part of the fun is hunting for the ones you like and finding them. If you just happen to want a particular model really badly, then paying a little extra and buying it on eBay Isn’t all that bad. Most of the time you will still pay less for a mainline than you would on something like a MiniGT, even with shipping and handling. And for those that keep saying that MiniGT is for “real collectors” and HWs are just toys, just WTF makes someone a “real collector”. I am pretty sure if you collect something you like, that makes you a “real collector”. And HWs also have a deep connection with most of us that collect them now, especially those of us that grew up playing with the original Sweet 16 and early redlines. HWs will always be popular and there will always be those that collect them. Most of these newer brands will never reach the popularity that HWs (and Matchbox) has and many will simply go out of business. But hey,to each his own. You can collect whatever you like.
HW are always going to be popular not denying that. But seriously scalpers are ruining the hw collecting for some. Ive heard of stories of guys assaulting ppl and harassing employees because of this. Thanks for watching 👍
Yet there is zero chance that a MiniGT will ever be worth more than it cost, most likely they will only decrease in value. Not all HWs will be super collectibles, but many will increase in price because of the fact it is a HW and the history of the brand.
@ most of older mini gt releases already increased in price. To me thats actually a bad thing because I’m a collector. I don’t want to pay those 10x prices.
Think the price is about the country you are living, a Hot Wheels Premium like Rexy is about 12.50 € , the MiniGT is 13,50€ here in Europe/Germany, so only 1€ more fo the MiniGT. Edit: We only get the Paperbox here without the huge plasticblister. 🙂
let say hot wheel is more cartoon like age 6-10 for real collector go with higher quaity for me i dont care i use majorette and hot wheel and i custom them
Please define a “real collector” to me. People collect many things for many reasons and saying that someone that collects HWs Isn’t a “real collector” I just BS. Too many people in the comment section are trying to justify the higher price of Mini GT by saying the very thing you are saying. HWs have a sentimental connection with many that collect them, especially those of us from Gen X who grew up playing with the original Sweet 16 and having many redlines. In some ways HWs have gone downhill since those days, but in some ways they have improved a lot. I know that you said you prefer HWs and MBs yourself, but I cannot agree with your statement that “real collectors” don’t collect HWs.
It's not the best diecast of the year, it's the best livery of the year. Nobody is buying Roxy for the actual casting, unless you're in to Porsche and or Mini gt.
I’ve ran into the problem with wanting to open every car. What I started to do was buy 2x or more of each car I want in my collection, hot wheels and mini gt. I buy 2x of each or more for later resale value
By promoting mini gt you are attracting the same awful scalpers to this brand. I hate the fact that mini gt is getting more popular because it attracts the same people who made hw an unbareable hobby.
We've got scalped Mini GTs here already, some of which include the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 (white presentation livery) and 2nd-gen Ford GT (Liquid Blue).
No, those that collect HWs are different than those that collect other 1:64ish die cast. And I have seen several of these Mini GTs on the pegs and no one wants them. You are safe if you are collecting them, at least when it comes to scalpers buying them all up.
@@Lar.Real.Diecast We already have the scalper issue with more than just Hot Wheels. Not just Mini GT, even Kaido House, Pop Race, Tarmac Works and more have fallen into scalper hands.
Comparing the two brands is so dumb. HW and MiniGT are two very different products. I collect and like both the same. Of course I collect because I lactually like cars and car culture. Not because I need to have "the coolest stuff" that comes out.
Premium HW are collector's products just as MiniGT are, perhaps not always the same collectors but there's going to be significant overlap. There's no more valid comparison than two versions of the same thing. For my part I feel HW's quality ought to be higher, based on how long they've been making diecasts and how much money they must have invested in the technology, compared to a relatively young company like MiniGT.
YOU DONT PROVIDE ENOUGH GOOD INFO FOR ARGUMEMT HERE...CUZ YOU DIDNT DO THE RESEARCH...YOUR CHANNEL JUST SEEMS TO BE ABOUT DRAMA AND CLICKBAIT...IF MINI GT ARENT WELL MADE, AND THEY ARE A DOWNGRADE FROM A COMPANY THAT ALR3ADY EXISTED, THEN YOU SHOULD SAY THAT FOR A COMPARISON...YOU PROVIDE MISINFORMATION AND THANKFULLY WE HAVE MORE INFORMED PEOPLE IN COMMENTS AND NOT ALL BANDWAGONERS
Things are worth as much as someone is willing to pay, and that is true with anything. And for some people that live in more rural areas, being able to buy a particular model on eBay is very practical and the only way they will ever get it. The biggest cost with buying from eBay these days is the shipping cost. I do customs and sell them on eBay and over the last couple years there have been several price increases in the shipping. It used to cost me as little as $3 to ship a custom mainline, now it is almost always over $5. Plus the cost of the boxes has gone way up. I could buy boxes in bulk that came out to be between 0.25-0.30 a piece, now it is almost a dollar for most of the boxes.
Hotwheels is a TOY brand meanwhile MiniGT is a COLLECTION brand, and it doesn't matter how many people collect Hotwheels, they'll keep being TOYS

Have a nice day.
You got it! Sick! 😄👏
Im getting lil by lil to the bottom of that iceberg 😅 maybe Timothy & Pierre soon?
Mini GT is certainly nice with beautiful details, Hot Wheels is a cult however, and isn’t going away. That said I’ve become incredibly particular in the models I actively look for/collect
You’re right, there’s no need to ditch them completely, but you can’t argue with the quality of the details.
@@kinocorner976I'd guess that people who shell out 22$ on one tiny model don't really 'play' with them but what do I know.
Im in another universe now with minigt... I cant look at hotwheels the same as before after this
I dont even look at Hotwheels any more.. I grew up on them but the scalpers and the prices IM like what am I paying for? Minigt and others are cheaper and more detailed!!!
Exactly my thoughts....specially in relation with RLCs and scalper priced Premiums
I have that exact one!But they really need to improve quality on the side mirrors and the spoilers on some cars, because ive got the R35 Goodwood Festival one and one side of the spoiler isnt fully, lets say clicked into the spot where its supposed to go.
What colour is this? I've never seen this GT-R R35 before. Or maybe you mixed it up with another Nissan?
@yongling9825 If you know the S15 Goodwood Festival, then it is very similar to the R35 i mentioned.Try searching "MiniGT R35 white and yellow" since i dont think adding "Goodwood Festival" would show results on Google.
@@yongling9825 If you want further proof,i would upload a photo or video of the GTR
@TheDiecastChamp You can put them in your Google Drive, then generate a URL.
Tomica Premium, Greenlight, & Kyosho for me and for HW, only regular version, no ugly premium edition.
Thank you for this video. Now I'll pick Mini GT over Hot wheels any day, for my husband 😂. Those toys are beautiful
Why are you LARPing as a sexy young woman 😂
Haha I hope he appreciates your thoughtful gift! 😂
While all of you are fangirling over the fact that it’s a Dino car, I’ve seen it race in real life, it’s very cool.
Good for you
Well, this might be ok for a diecast collector, for someone like me, who's 100% a Hot Wheels collector, will never work!
Fair enough!
Looks so nice but unfortunately i can't afford mini gt 😔
💯
…. and the word on Mini GT is getting out, which is only driving the prices higher.
I'm so sorry to hear that...
Yeah it’s a different game in the Philippines!
nahhh you got scammed with that P400 bugatti bolide, got mine from a reseller for only P140 mint carded...
@patrickhughkirbychiong9914 Well, finding a bugatti bolide that is actually blue is rare in the Philippines.
@MCRBLXPlayer it's not when you know where to find and buy one. One of my friends bought a blue one recently for P200 from a FB group with resellers that sells cheap despite of scalpers ruining market pricing.
@patrickhughkirbychiong9914 That's the thing, I don't. I don't normally hop on shopping apps, and finding one in stores is impossible.
I almost don’t see premiums anymore at my local WalMart or Target so who cares. Scalpers takes them all and leave the ugly piece of $hit behind. These store don’t carry miniGTs so I QUIT.
I like to display my hot Wheels by hanging them on the wall and not to open them
Another good Hot Wheels RLC fail example is their RX-7 FD3S. Pop Race have them beat. 🤣
@@Lar.Real.Diecastfrom MiniGT, I'm definitely gonna get a Skyline, $15 ain't that much. I will probably get some HWs too along the way, but not as frequent.
@@yongling9825Pop Race has also been on my radar for a while. Engine bay on RLC RX 7 looks like it was a model taken from a bad mobile game 😭
Thats the plan 🤣🤣🤣. Nice one!
@Lar.Real.Diecast 🤣🤣
Wait to see inno 64 and pop race, they are awesome!
Ohh its coming!
We DON'T need scalpers ruining the mini gt experience next
Sadly people in my country had done that, with most Kaido House castings, older releases like LB R35, Mk4 Supra, E30 M3, etc. and most recent Porsche GT3 RS castings.
I doubt you have anything to worry about, I see these things hanging on pegs for months up to a year. Even the goody HWs sell better than these do.
Naah price point is way different. Nothing to worry about............yet 😅
You have to remember that at the end of the day, Hot Wheels is just a toy. Mini GT is way more sophisticated. A better choice for adults.
But the Hot Wheels version is very nice. You can put it in your pocket whereas the mini will break the spoiler if you did that.
Yes thats the downside of minigt they are fragile. Thanks for watching 🥰
🤡
No need to say sorry. All opinions welcome. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks so much your comment makes so happy 🥹🥹. Great advice here as well. You are right we need to specialize
This rexy was $22 but there are some other minigt that go as low as $13 bucks
Hot wheels is kids toy, mini gt is for adult collectors
Minigt is killing
Try Pop Race
I will coming soon
Wait till he sees kaido house and some poprace
Kaido House benefits you best if you're a fan of kaido racer style.
Ohhh its coming....
finally bit late but joins in the party.
I respect Mini GT quality and I love Hot Wheels and Matchbox too. I admit Hot Wheels premium have poor quality graphics and ugly wheels.
I mean you can't argue with that 🤣.
is this an invite to scalpers to ditch hotwheels and switch to minigt?
Of course noooo no scalpers in minigt. Thanks for watching
@Lar.Real.Diecast idk man. Videos like this just seem like laying down a red carpet to scalpers welcoming them.
let say hot wheel is more cartoon like age 6-10 for real collector go with higher quaity
for me i dont care i use majorette and hot wheel and i custom them
Please define a “real collector” to me.
I bought it for the actual casting. I like Porsches. And it just happens to be a nice livery too 😊
So, most buyers then.
Don't tell him about Inno64, Pop Race and TW lmao
If he hasn't, he'll learn about them sooner or later.
You know i can see and read the comment section 😅
If you want regular hotwheels, sure you can buy them. But hotwheels premium and RLC is just garbage for the money.
RLC selling point: spectraflamme (chrome paint)
I’ve ran into the problem with wanting to open every car. What I started to do was buy 2x or more of each car I want in my collection, hot wheels and mini gt. I buy 2x of each or more for later resale value
So you're saying you're a reseller and a collector at the same time?
Sorry dude, I'm not rich like you
I wish i was rich .....someday....thanks for watching 👍
Cut it from the back so you can put it back without destroying the packaging
Mini gt's are for 14+ but bro acting like 7😂
More like 5ish 😅
@@Lar.Real.Diecastlol 😂
Naaaah price point i way different. HW gets scalper due to their cheap retail price. Minigt wont have the same problem i think. Thanks for watching 👍
@@Lar.Real.Diecast We already have the scalper issue with more than just Hot Wheels. Not just Mini GT, even Kaido House, Pop Race, Tarmac Works and more have fallen into scalper hands.
Mini gt is trash
Ok all opinions welcome thanks for watching anyway 👍
Comparing the two brands is so dumb. HW and MiniGT are two very different products. I collect and like both the same. Of course I collect because I lactually like cars and car culture. Not because I need to have "the coolest stuff" that comes out.
Ok all opinions welcome. Thanks for watching 🥰

Thanks, but let him...this channel is about freedom of expression
For me, new Hotwheels are so overrated and so overpriced by scalpers. Especially the new F1 hotwheel
How do you buy a Mini GT?
Ebay, shop, whatnot,jcardiecast...thanks for watching. I hope you like Minigt from now on 👍
