I remember really enjoying SimCity when it came out, I often played with friends in a region, but despite having almost 150 hours of playtime, most of them after Citys of the Future released I assume, I never felt the need to touch it again after Cities: Skylines came out.
The limitations in size, the limitations in diversity but mostly, the limitation of the freedom to not be 100% efficient, is what made me never come back.
I want to design a district with a Huge Park as it center point, and the streets spreading in circles, I want to build giant transit Hubs where 10 or more buslines exchange passengers the most effective way, I want to watch the tractor driving the seemingly endless road through a very rual area, passing through several settlements before arriving at the dense parts of a big city.
SimCity has a lot, that is really fun, and that I somewhat miss in Cities: Skylines (like a lot of the Cities of the Future stuff), but in the end, it feels just empty to me, like a mobile adaptation of a city builder...

This game had everything. -Except of map size.
The lack of map size is among the most mind bugling flaws in gaming history.
While the launch had embarrassing and notorious issues, this was fixed as soon as they could, and wouldnt be a problem if not the Map size issue was a thing.
Map size is key, and this issue is the one and only issue which _killed the game.

It really is such a shame that it's actually really unlikely that EA would be able to do anything with this IP, seeing that they downsized Maxis.
I remember feeling a sense of accomplishment when i finally got a city fully self-sufficient and profitable with whatever the biggest population milestone was, on the DS version of the game

    My favourite franchise of videos.
22 views ans one hour ago.
The last time I played SimCity 2013 was a maybe two years or three ago and I remembered also having quite a lot if hours in it.
I definetly was also a bit disappointed back then but now I found quite a liking to the game.
When I get the whole concept out of my head with having one giant city and focus on building multiple small cities that specialise in specific areas it is quite nice.

It is a pretty solid game, and offers a great change of pace from Skylines. I was surprised by how much I liked it this time around. I run into issues with sharing resources between cites at times, but its nice to have all power in one city, one city with all water etc. Thanks for watching!

Simcity has a lot of shortcomings and is a bit too much of a really and large project 😢

Key jangling aside, City-Skylines is just 'the lesser or two evils' you're essentially trading EA for Paradox which isn't much better. I will be pleasantly surprised if Cities-Skylines 2 isn't constantly trying to nickel and dime me, but again this is Paradox so the odds of that are low.

Actually paradox isn't the one creating the game. They are just publishing it. And since the first game was already very good from the beginning, There's high hopes for the second version
