Watching every Maggot Brain cover version I can get my hands on is kind of my hobby ... But this one is by far the most accurate when it comes to reproducing Eddie's exact playing on the original record. Others are usually more improvised versions which I love as well. But this one is really on point. Thanks for honoring this beautiful song.
Thanks man! Yeah, that was the idea with this one. To see if it could be reproduced, not just improvised over. So many tonal changes throughout and so many effects made it quite the challenge.
True story: A few years ago I had a bunch of music gear stolen in an apartment break-in, including my #1, a telecaster. After moping for about a week, Eddie Hazel came to me in a dream and told me to cheer the hell up and go out and buy an SG. So that's what I did. Still miss the tele, love my SG though. Great job here.
That sucks, sorry for the loss of the Tele, but most importantly YOU are safe, healthy and it wasn’t a home invasion. I have an SG Standard and never thought I’d love playing it as much as I do. So much more comfortable and way more sustain than a Les Paul, in my opinion.
I've been on more than a few drug-filled weekend long parties at my old place, with the original version of this song as my guide through the cosmos. Now I'm sober and it still makes me feel the same way. You captured the essense of it very well. Eddie would be proud.
It's pretty amazing how how string instruments can carry so many emotions.... I guess any insttrument can carry emotion, but guitar, violins and cellos do it the best...
A piano is part string instrument as well... and that can carry just as much emotion. Look at any minecraft song if your a veteran. Some can take us on a journey. Classical music and others as well

Great cover!! I found this amazing song earlier this year, found a video of someone playing it on the rocksmith video game, bought it, tabbed it out sections at a time (about 4 mins in now). Such an amazing collection of sounds to be able to play!
I forgot you did this one! Great job! Another really good one from Eddie Hazel is Hit It and Quit It. It really needs to be somewhere on this list of the countdown you're doing now!
Someone's watching all my videos, Thanks Wilhelm! If I continue to grow my channel, maybe I can retire in 3 or 4 years. That'll be rich enough for me, haha.
I just lost a good hour watching your covers and its very inspiring stuff. I'm also a layer who dropped his guitar for a number of years and is picking it back up.
yeah this is the best and closest to the original simply amazing. Sorry Gilmour but this tops any floyd solo in emotion. Eddie Hazel should be known as a top 5 player imo. 71 ??? guitar world or whatever is crazy this is top 5 easily EASILY. I give you a 9 out of 10 on this and the best i could give any other covers of this is a 6 maybe a 7.
I would have looooooved to have heard the late, great Prince reinterpret this classic. Also...Carlos Santana. Oh yeah....this is also a killer interpretation. Bravo!
@@ThePFRG you gotta break it up into pieces and learn each piece separately, then put it together. You also need to know it inside out before even touching the guitar. Before I sat down to learn it, I must have listened to it 200 times in a two week period. It's so long, one really has to get it in your head first before learning it.

love this very random, yet inspiring story xD. "stand up and your ass will follow"

I can say without a doubt that is my experience to a T. Its the song to listen to.
Don't listen to that song for too long stoned...it will kinda make you go crazy...you won't be able to get it out of your head...ha ha
One of my favorites....wish I could play it like that.....good job.👍
Well you just impressed the shit out of everyone in this flat. I didn't think it could be replicated. Goddamn!
I didn't think so either, but here we are. Thanks very much! Was a lot of work.
Kelly Dean Allen Guitar better than the OG with a fresh take on it. Dude you killed it.
That was so beautiful man...I'm sure Eddie would love to have heard it.... You did an amazing job
One of the best Maggot Brain covers! Great tone
Was raised on this song. Eddie Hazel would smile at this. Excellent.
Eddie played through you in this... incredible
Superb performance, mate. Lots of work gone into that, and I love it. Many thanks indeed.
It's not often I comment, but that's worth a 'well done'.
You should be earning a living from this.
Dude.... this blew my mind. You can rock this shit better than almost anyone short of Eddie. Keep rockin man🤘🏻
I was working on it back when we learned off records......had it stuck in my head in a mental loop.😵💫

I believe you man, I believe you..
Love the fade out at the end. Makes a profound statement.
You need to listen to Eddie Hazels solo album if you haven't already. It's incredible.
What's it called man?
Ashley Riff “game, dames and guitar thangs”
I used to own a copy. Yes, it is all that. The man was genius.

Hey Kyle! Glad you caught this.
This is beautiful. You killed it. Eddie would be so proud.
Amazing cover.
Did Eddie Hazel do other similar virtuoso guitar tracks or was Maggot Brain a one off?
I wish I'll be like you when I grow up man
You have an incredible memory, note for note! Loved it, gonna plug in my strat, lol.
I listened to it about 200 times before I learned it. Basically memorized the whole thing before I even touched the guitar.
Incredible job!
Thanks Eric! Appreciate it.

What Charlie Parker did with the sax, Mr. Eddie Hazel did with the guitar!!
Thanks for playing it exactly the way it is supposed to be and not improvising because people are lazy to learn the song! Excellent cover!!
What gear did you use?
what pedals are u using for this? is that a wah? sorry if thats a dumb question
Yes. A wah pedal.
I wonder how many takes it took to do this
how long did it take to learn this?
I worked on it for about nine days.

A shitty wah on a multi effect pedal. I broke it playing this solo. Have since picked up a decent wah. Tone is Bias FX software.
