Most likely scenrio is that Ipswich go straight back down. So he'll have that on is CV. Don't care how good a manager you are ,its very difficult to make the jump from championship to prem. Its a chasm. He's got them up 2 divisions. He's done his job and then some. I'd go to Brighton.
Simon is right. I don’t know what the fuss is about McKenna or people comparing Arteta’s move to Arsenal. Don’t compare Arsenal Board with Manchester United or Chelsea. Man U and Chelsea have the worst board in the world. They (Man U) don’t support managers and just bleed the club dry. Chelsea’s board don’t know what they are doing. Arsenal is a very well runned club. It is so disrespectful to Ten Hag. Two days to a final this is coming out. Like what do people think will be going through those players head. Imagine if Chelsea or United get McKenna and it turns out like lampard (who was good at Derby) or Graham Potter. Those clubs will be taken 3 years back
Easy for Jordan to sneer at the idea, but Mckenna is not an ex footballer with lots of money. He cannot turn down a life-changing contract from a huge club even if he's not ready. United should see him as gettable in a few years and look for someone more experienced in the meantime.
I hope everyone turns us down the chance to work under that board until the board realise their plan to only buy inexperienced players and managers and expect to compete with the top 3 is insanity. Who would want to be the next Lampard or Potter?
Simon is evidently an experienced and successful businessman. If he gave a person a chance in his other businesses, and they were headhunted, would he have the same reaction? It's unfair to assume football people (to use Souness's term) should be held to a higher standard than in other professions. If a solicitor, teacher, construction worker, or civil engineer could seek a better opportunity, then i don't see why a football manager, coach, or player shouldn't.
Because in Football they sign a multi year correct and normal employee's have a contract that allows them give a notice period of a month/3 months either way. If they get a contract for three years they should honour that if the owner wants them out he has to pay the remainder of the contract.
I would question if the Chelsea owners are qualified to run a football club, apart from having the money to do. Their understanding of how football works two years in seems to be as sensible as playing in motorway traffic.
@@dorualex3092 I agree 💯, I'm not a fan of how Poch has made no effort to make a connection with the fan base, but totally deserved next season to make UCL.
They should stick to baseball Not ruin our football clubs As a chelsea fan i hope every manger turns them down and fans stop going to matches Lets see how they get on with that
Ask Moyes about loyalty. The loyalty talk is nonsense. These clubs bin these managers off when it suits them. They have a small window so they need to follow their ambition.
Boards & fans of promoted clubs quickly forget what their managers have done for them when they get off to a bad start. So McKenna should take the Man Utd job, if offered. Merson is right. It may never come round again.
I understand Simon's point of view, but unless we are the ones being offered just such an opportunity, it is hard to imagine not having our heads turned. In an ideal World, Clubs would like to think loyalty plays a part in the final decision. However loyalty is a two way street which is often detrimental to any Manager who has a poor spell.
The fact Chelsea are happy to get rid of their manager despite them starting to play well, should put managers off going there, it’s going to be their 5th manager in 2 years
Didn't Ferguson reject offer from Arsenal or United in early 80s? It's up to managers to decide is the time right. Also, for some top clubs like Real or Barca it's not enough to win, you have to "win with style". I remember Real sacking Radomir Antic in early 90s even if they were top of the league because he didn't play "attractive football".
Quite a few of the older managers are a lot of aggro to employ. Some are not successful anymore. So there is a dearth of experienced successful managers to employ.
Did the presenter compare Amorim to McKenna and Maresca?? Amorim is a league title winner with Sporting Lisbon 😂A Sporting Lisbon that finished 18 points ahead of Porto in the league - a Porto team that Arsenal only edged out on penalties - an Arsenal team that lost the premier league title by less than 3 points😂WTF is he talking about?
If your a good enough manager and believe in yourself then why not take the job. Few months ago everyone was calling Chelsea sh*t, now everyone wants to cry about Poch getting sacked. Clearly not as bad as the media makes it out to be.
Jordan says they have to back themselves by staying at their respective clubs and develop there. This is not how the real world works, if you back yourself and are confident of course you’re going to go to another level as soon as you can, it’s called ambition. If they don’t then they’ll always going to ask what if. You don’t want to die not knowing what could have been in any walk of life. I say go for it and give it your best shot.
Jordan is miles out here. If he stays at Ipswich and has a cracking season, what does he get, a job like Chelsea anyway? But if he gets relegated or struggles his stock is gone and could even be sacked. Take the job, if you fail you’re set for life anyway financially and if you succeed then happy days
Amorim has won 2 Portuguese leagues and cups with Sporting, the lesser of the big 3 in Portugal and he's in another cup final this week. Jim White trying to put him in the same category as two novices. He knocked Arsenal out of the europa league rd of 16 last year and came close to knocking them out of the champions league this year.
I have been a Chelsea fan my whole life and I live in Ipswich. This is the most exciting potential appointment we have ever made. I include Jose in that statement. Simon, Sir Alf Ramsey, Sir Bobby Robson, I have a feeling this guy will also have three letters in from of his name.
Ruben Amorim is a technician in football a top manager in the making for me he could go in a top 4 clubs he has all the qualities and talent to bring success to the club he has the potential to go all the way to the top with the right backing he had a interview with West Ham and someone leaked it and then said he only did it for the Liverpool job it didn’t take him long to work out Sullivan and Tim he was back on that plane and didn’t look back. He will be back soon in the premier League
Who is Simon Jordan. Tells footballers they know nothing about owning a club. Then talks about appointing an elite manager. Now he is telling managers(that he hasnt done) who to work for
Neither of them should worry about missing the opportunity, stay with your promoted club and prove yourself Chelsea will be looking for another manager in a year and the chances are that Man U will be as well. Welcome to crazy town and the merry go round.
What are you talking about Simon? It would be massive career mismanagement turning it down. What opportunities will arise bigger than United if he stays up with Ipswich next year? Endless list of managers have come up after doing well in the champ, done well in the prem and then dont get a sniff of any top job. Dyche, Frank, Cooper, Wilder etc etc. These top clubs dont come calling for promoted managers often. There is nothing to suggest Mckenna would get a top 4 club coming for him because it never happens to these managers coming up which is why everyone find the Kompany one so baffling. Thats only because of his name.
Yes and endless managers f the career up jumping ship at either club, I hope McKenna and Maresca say to them stick your money where the sun don't shine, why should they go to big clubs for one season just to get sack that ain't how football always work, you're delusional.
If anyone had any foresight to check the fact before allowing the incorrect broadcasting of the Chelsea ownership then you may be able to claim the right to call yourself a quality broadcaster. Tod Boehly only owns ten percent of the shares of ownershipnat Chelsea football club.

Cooper stayed at forest and look how he was rewarded. :/ might as well take the money unless contracts are unbreakable :)
Those clubs will be taken 3 years back
Probably the smartest thing that fella has said in his life
Easy for Jordan to sneer at the idea, but Mckenna is not an ex footballer with lots of money.
Their understanding of how football works two years in seems to be as sensible as playing in motorway traffic.
they dont they should have kept Poch, they sacked him cus was on 6th and not in a UCL spot, shameless
@@dorualex3092 I agree 💯, I'm not a fan of how Poch has made no effort to make a connection with the fan base, but totally deserved next season to make UCL.
They should stick to baseball
Not ruin our football clubs
As a chelsea fan i hope every manger turns them down and fans stop going to matches
Lets see how they get on with that
Being a footballer or a manager is a job. in any other industry, there is no true loyalty, provided one's position is good enough.
Ask Moyes about loyalty. The loyalty talk is nonsense. These clubs bin these managers off when it suits them. They have a small window so they need to follow their ambition.
McKenna would walk from Ipswich to Manchester for even a chance of managing the biggest football club on earth 🌎
Fair play Simon calling out the validity of the source.
Jordan's point on the loyalty of good managers is flawed. Clubs sack underperforming managers; so outperforming managers should be able to do the same
TBH it doesnt matter. Big Bad Bo will destroy any of them.
Hearing McKenna and Maresca have made changes to their career plans after hearing Simon Jordan’s expert opinion 😭
Quite a few of the older managers are a lot of aggro to employ. Some are not successful anymore. So there is a dearth of experienced successful managers to employ.
Why in gods name would Utd appoint him. Honestly, I give up.
Simon knows his footy. It nothing about boxing worth repeating
Hopefully Maresca stays🦊
Nah, he's going.
If your a good enough manager and believe in yourself then why not take the job. Few months ago everyone was calling Chelsea sh*t, now everyone wants to cry about Poch getting sacked. Clearly not as bad as the media makes it out to be.
Well said Simon.ITFC
I'm sure that if Simon was doing well on local radio, helping that station grow, he'd turn down espn as a sports analyst in prime time.
Vincent Kompany may become the next Gary Neville in some ways.
Wow….SJ the straight talker. Is he really right.
Maresca makes a meal of getting the best team by a mile promoted and gets the Chelsea job? The tinpot Guardiola must have a brilliant agent.
Good point. They had a good squad and Maresca did what he should have done with the resources
Vincent Kompany - Bayern Munich ?
Simon is so right
Amorim has won 2 Portuguese leagues and cups with Sporting, the lesser of the big 3 in Portugal and he's in another cup final this week.
That's quite a sparkling endorsement!
As an Ipswich fan I kindly ask you stfu and stop letting everyone know how good he is. Keep it secret, keep it safe 🤫 🤐
Simon is talking about loyalty and decency, a very rare commodity in 2024…….
But unfair from Simon, they gave him his opportunity for sure, but he gave them back to back promotions, and probably £6m. I think he's repaid them.
Simon repeatedly says United are the biggest club in the world (over Madrid) but says McKenna should stay at Ipswich instead 🤣 - can’t make it up!
For the first time I disagree with Simon. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for these coaches. It won't take anything away from them.
I know he didn’t compare Amorin to McKenna 😆
Obviously McKenna's agent let it be known. As he should, to bid up his client's price.
They won’t want them both managers are not big club managers
When they go for the big name they say that is a problem too
😊there's no denying that Sim9n talks a lot of sense at times. But I feel that his football experiences have left him with a very negative attitude towards the game in general
Zidane in now, Zidane in now.
