It's okay. But I prefer it when Yume Nikki is surreal, weird, and almost eldritch/incomprehensible. Don't like making it scary since we already have Ib.
you know... actually making something abstract in 3D is fun, and certainly not impossible. But I think it would just take way more efforts to make you feel immersed into it and give the right feeling. Personally, when thinking about abstract and surreal feeling a 3D game could give, I remember about Alice: Madness Returns it is *certainly* not the same thing as Yume Nikki. But, it gives not a bad image of how a 3D space can give pretty interesting abstract feeling
I find I am always more immersed in 3D like this because I’m always in the perspective of the character. I think surrealism in 3D requires a high level of depth and number of things to focus on. Inversely surrealism can be accomplished by minimalism for a liminal feeling. However, I think this too strong a tone. Think the most important factor in surrealism is tonal ambiguity. It should feel like horror. It needs to feel like there can be horror, but at the same time, there absolutely isn’t.
"keep your dirty hands of her" keep your dirty hands off of her? "why do you bother?" "the worst of times" I hear that this dlc is based off of the manga, but I don't get it. Is that all?
My favourite location is the “white digital sound-waves” room. So beautiful!! But I think my biggest issue from this tidbit is that it’s clearly horror. Certainly nightmares exist. However, dreams, to me, are immense in their feeling. It shouldn’t be just fear. Anyway, Yume Nikki isn’t really horror. It felt more like an expansive art installation.
Oh oops. I guess maybe the maker wanted it to be horror. But I still feel like it would be much cooler if it fit the tonal ambiguity of Yume Nikki instead of a survival horror.
kayleigh gibson Oh, this game was based off of the manga. NOW, IF YOU WANNA READ THE MANGA, DON'T PRESS READ MORE, INTENSE SPOILERS. And I'm not talking one or two details, I'm talking an entire summary of the manga, and how to activate the event that has to do with the plot of THIS game. **SPOILER ALERT** OK, so basically, Madotsuki goes in the dream world, and gains the frog effect. She sees the effect as her friend. She decides to wake up, and looks in her diary. It was open, and it said "COLLECT ALL THE EFFECTS". Shortly after, she realizes that her door is locked, and she had no choice. Although she knew she didn't write that, she decides to go back to sleep to find her "friends". As she gains more and more "friends", she realizes that most of her "friends" are normal things in the very abnormal worlds that are her dreams, and that the slightly out of place things are a "door" of some sort. Slightly out of place as in there's only one of those things in the door's world, but it still goes along with the theme of the world behind the door. She finds this balloon with an odd shape and color, and decides it's one of the aforementioned doors. She grabs it, and it flies her all the way to Poniko (The girl she killed)'s house. She went in, and saw a girl that looked normal! She tried to talk to her, but was ignored. She turned off the lights, and Poniko turned into Uboa. (Now, this was based off of a game easter egg where if you found Poniko's house, killed Poniko, exited the house, and re-entered the house and turned off the lights, there's a 1/64 chance that Poniko would turn into Uboa. Now, if it didn't work, just re-exit and enter the house and turn off the lights. You don't need to kill Poniko again. Lather, rinse, repeat. If you don't know what Uboa is, look at this wiki article: yumenikki.wikia.com/wiki/Uboa So, in the manga, Madotsuki was holding an umbrella, (Umbrella Effect), the lights shut off by themselves, and Poniko turned into Uboa. Uboa ripped the umbrella out of Madotsuki's hands, and started to hit her with it. Madotsuki, in pain, said "It hurts! It hurts to death! It hurts! It really hurts! Stop! Stop! Stop! STOP! MOM, STOP!". She was hit so hard that she was knocked out, and then Uboa stole Madotsuki's effects, and Madotsuki woke up from her dream. Uboa She was so angry that Uboa just stole her effects, that Madotsuki decided that she would kill Uboa. As she said that, she stabbed her diary with her pen. She decided to find the knife effect, went to sleep, and she did. "This will do nicely..." However, back in the real world, the pen started to ooze out a black substance. As that black substance came out, it bled into her diary, and ruined the things she wrote, therefore erasing her memories about the entire dream. After that it wasn't very understandable, so go read it yourself. .-.
I wish this was the kind of reimagining we got instead of -DREAM DIARY-, mang.
This rocks.
That soundtrack is absolutely amazing.

Jet Abyss well yume nikki's supposed to be about dreams. There's no way you haven't had at least ONE scary dream.
This “remake” tries too hard and I don’t think any game should have ear rape, especially as a jump scare
I think i saw you somewhere before but where?
5:52 Land of overloud earrape
I played that game twice because I thought the game crashed when I killed that last character.
I really like its creepy atmosphere.
this dlc has jumpscares with the corrupted palace and the broken glass
Thanks for keeping me alerted :D
The game loses SO much when you try to turn it into a 3D game. The pixel graphics are what made the game mysterious and surreal.

I remember finding this by accident and thinking it was some kind of actual creepypasta style haunted executable. I was a really dumb kid
Is there a way to find the soundtrack of the snow part at 6:10 ?
"keep your dirty hands of her"
keep your dirty hands off of her?
"why do you bother?"
"the worst of times"
I hear that this dlc is based off of the manga, but I don't get it. Is that all?
Keep in mind, the entire game wasn't played.
"keep your dirty hands of her"
Gruselig aber interessant. Irgendwas daran, fasziniert mich! Ganz besonders der Raum, mit den Schallwellen und der Pianomusik im Hintergrund.
