By the looks of other comments, it appears you've opened a can of worms regarding the Spyders evap cannister and the higher RPM range. The building is looking good with the new paint. That old yellow/brown reminds me of the old USAF hangars I worked in. Blah. Have a T-rific Tuesday! Peace and love.

Purge valves are a problem on VWs....Yeah, don't overfill. It's a cheap part and not hard to install. Gas caps lose their seal after 3-4 years too.
Morning y'all, Shawn you've probably mentioned it before, but I don't remember it. Does the Rykers also have the evap canister with the same concerns for over filling the tank? That model is my new focus and I'll want to do it right.

It sounds like your supposed to run the spyders pretty hard so the evap canister doesn’t get saturated? Thanks for the tech talk!👍
Shawn, did you say that if you rev above 4000 it will clear the evap cannister?. Is this if you accidentally over fill it. And if so, how long do you have to sustain the 4000+ rpm.
Remember, this is for 2008~2013 Spyders only..! If it’s a SE5 Spyder, the centrifugal clutch is another reason for keeping the at 4K+ rpm’s.
If you overfill the tank, raw fuel is introduced to the EVAP canister, and that takes quite some time to turn into vapor an purge out. Just ride like normal try avoiding overfilling on and vehicle..!

I have that very same Spyder, bought it used with less than 8k on the clock. It rides well, I did have an error code that the shop cleared for me. Still trying to puzzle out why my rear speakers don't work. Some say it don't have any in there, but there are the speaker housings. Trying to puzzle how to open it up and look in there.
Some did not have the rear speakers..! Don't try taking those rear speaker pods apart to look, they can be quite tricky to work with. Look into the rear grills with a flashlight, if they are there, you'll see an actual speaker in there... If present, make sure someone hasn't set the fade to 100% front speakers. This is common when one of the rear speakers are failing and just making noise, or by a passenger's request... Lol

What do you class as over filling the spyder. I make sure it does not go back into the over flow tubes
Anything above the 2” tube that’s below the gas fill hole. A light or your finger in the opening will reveal the tube... As the tank vent and tube is completely hidden, there’s no way to view that as a gauge of fill level. If fuel goes down that hose and into the EVAP canister, it’s too late.
I talk about all this in detail in tomorrow’s video.
