Vitamin C Derivatives - Which One is For You?

  • Finally! The first of 2 Vitamin C videos! This video focuses on the derivatives so stay tuned for my Ascorbic Acid favourites!
Derivatives can be confusing because everything seems to be labelled under “Vitamin C”. They do however function differently, so hopefully, this video will help you figure out what will work better for your skin type! While the research on whether or not these derivatives do successfully convert to Ascorbic Acid in the skin is still quite flimsy, they do appear to have some benefits separate from that!

The Korres 15% spotless serum was recently released! You might like this since you like watery serums! I have tried Biossance Vit C Rose oil, SR CEO, PTR Poten-C, and Korres 15%. If I would rank these serums, it would be:
    1. Korres 15%
    2. Sunday Riley CEO
    3. PTR Poten-C
    4. Biossance
    Great video and very informative!

After watching your video on ascorbic acid (vitamin C), I watched this video again. My concern about using ascorbic acid is the low ph and oxidation. Since my skin reacts poorly to low ph products- I was happy to learn about the different types of derivatives available. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and explaining the advantages of the different types of derivatives.

I have done skin care for years and have never used Vitamin C. I have rosacea and that it would be too harsh. Now I want to try it, but don’t know where to begin. You have so much information on your videos, I’m even more confused. I have to start somewhere, so I guess I will just pick one of the derivatives and go from there. You have put a lot of research in your channel. Very interesting stuff.

You've helped me to understand skincare so much. I had a bit of bother with rosacea and no matter what my skin just wasn't quite recovering. My massage therapist is an ambassador for tropic skincare so I bought the travel set and loved. I then bought the full sized products but my skin still wasn't quite there. I knew part of it was purging because the new skincare has no chemicals. Whenever I'd try my lactic acid I wasn't getting the results I'd gotten before. So I took 3 drops of tropic supergreens serum, 2 drops of the ordinary lactic acid 10% and 1 drop of the ordinary salicylic acid 2%. I've been doing this every night for about a week and the redness has gone the little spots and bumps are disappearing. I would never have thought to mix those 2 acids with my serum if I hadn't taken the time to watch you and learn. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into what you do, I really appreciate it 💕💕

As always, very informative my friend. I truly hope all is well. My fav derivative is Jordan’s Hydrate, ugh I love it. It’s amazing! I took the plunge, Skinceuticals C and Ferulic, I don’t think I could go back to any other Vit C. I saw dramatic brightening, and my brown spots. I poured into a pump to minimize exposure to air, and keep the fill dropper bottle in the fridge. It’s soooo good!

Thank you for this video. I so appreciate it. I tried Vitamin C once. ONCE. I tried it and had the strongest reaction is ever had to anything. It just straight up burned. But I’m 39 now and I received a sample of the Femmue and thought I would see if I suffered as i did in my 20s, and was shocked when it was absolutely lovely on my sensitive and finicky skin. Of course, less excited about the price tag. I’m a big fan of the ordinary, so perhaps I will check out that version instead.
In the same sample, I received the Femmue Camelia Oil. It is, hands down, the most luxurious thing I’ve ever put on my skin. Very curious to know more about camellia products. I know that it’s the flower of the tea plant, but also that camellia has many different varieties, and not sure what benefit, if any, I should expect from various camellia products. That includes camellia seed as well. Care to elaborate if you haven’t already?

Wow! Your skin care videos pack a punch of information. I love hearing your opinion on how these products change or affect your skin. I'm curious about your opinion on Ben Fuchs' Truth Serum with THD for $199 for 1 oz. His products have an incredibly short list of ingredients and claim to be very potent without the irritation since it doesn't contain any fillers or "junk." I love the way it feels but I can't say that it has done wonders for my hyper pigmentation for the cost. I would love to hear your review for his entire line.

I LOVE Mad Hippie so much😍 I used them for several years- the Vitamin C in particular saved my face when I had mid-20’s cystic acne. The formulas were so gentle, I never had any irritation. I am moving into the ordinary products now only because I’m looking for formulas that are a little stronger😁

Thank u so much for making this video and perfect timing. I’ve been using SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic for over 3 months and I didn’t see a difference, if always felt tacky and made my skin look greasy or yellow and I had a horrible reaction last week where I had to start my skin care regimen from scratch. I was really upset because it’s expensive and I always see it as a top choice Vitamin C serum. I don’t know if I wasn’t using right with my steps or if it wasn’t right for my skin. It broke me out and then my face got really dry. I’ve been using lots of hydrating products that have helped so far but I didn’t know what vitamin C serum to try next and you showed options. I was using it more for collagen and antioxidants booster for wrinkles and some brightening but I don’t have hyper pigmentation issues except for under eyes which is genetic. Again thank you skin care angel 😇!!!

I have such a hard time with oils and serums. I have oily skin, and oils never seem to sink in. I just use a tiny amount, barely enough to spread over my face, and my face looks like it was freshly applied hours later. Serums clog my pores, I've tried several. I want something brightening because I'm starting to get hyper-pigmentation because I'm in my mid-30's, but nothing seems to work for me. 😞That being said, thank you for so much detailed information on the different kinds of Vitamin C we can find in skincare, and for having such a variety of price points!

Nichole D sounds like your skin is really similar to mine, I like the ordinary vitamin c suspensions because you can use it as a mask and wash it off after an hour. It is also super potent!
Niacinamide is also good for brightening and made my skin less oily :)
