We'll miss you too Grumpacious. By the time you come to visit we'll have a long list of locations for you to come and shoot with us. I'm gonna buy that mini rice cooker.
Ah man, I think my heart broke just a little bit when you said that collaborating with Gavin won’t be possible anymore…love your video’s together. That being said, I still love your channel and will continue to watch and smash that Like button. Thanks for the video, Adam. Keep ‘‘em coming.
Thank you Adam Gibbs for loving Van Isle and BC. I realize housing and inflation are making things difficult for all of us (thus my family and I in Japan). I love your channel because you're talented but also because you're living close to what I call home. You and Gavin need to do a monthly internet vlog chat so we can see you both catching up. Loved your photos here BTW!!
You and Gavin are wildly entertaining, but in all honesty, I learn a LOT more when you and Gavin are shooting solo. I really like the way you describe your compositions. Not just showing us the "final product", but also how to emphasize different subjects in the same composition. I'm a fan of you shooting with Brian, too.
Just as others have said, what a huge shame such a brilliant team are no longer going to be together as often. You and Gavin have been fantastic together and have such fantastic comedic timing. A real Morecombe and Wise, Laurel and Hardy combination, its been a true pleasure to watch you both in action. Really enjoyed this video Adam, it had a strong feeling of how your videos used to be, except without your brilliant drone footage introducing the video. Take care and keep safe both of you. Look forward to the next video.
As a photographer I can appreciate good friends and those who share similar interests such as photography. Gavin and Amanda are starting a new journey and I wish them the best of luck. As far as your journey Adam, it will continue and others will come into your path. Your video this week was/is soft spoken, professional looking with great audio and content and easy to follow along. Take care and best of luck to you in 2022. Louis Ruth
I will hugely miss your hilarious inimitable partnership with Gavin, you so complement each other.- but I wish you, and Gavin and Amanda the very best and look forward to your own adventures , and an eventual reunion
Not the dynamic duo! Very sorry to hear you can't work as much together with the move. You very much seemed to enjoy each other's company. Great video Adam! I really enjoy seeing the raw image transition to the edited version and how you explain your shots. Looking forward to the next one!
Great vid and I love your format with the photos if showing raw then completed shots. Also glad to see you using 20x20 Ali tube, I have it in my van, so light and easy to work with. Hope we can meet up when you visit the UK 👍🏻
Your ability to dodge and burn is insanely good. It almost kills my confidence because i just can’t imagine my photographs finished to even know where to begin. If that makes sense. Anyway, great work as usual!
sorry about Gavin Ill miss all the shenanigans and laugh, I wish them the best. back to your videos love the moss on those trees nice photos, can wait for the next video...
A rice cooker is the best way to get perfect rice every time. I had mine for several years now and couldn’t be without it. An other great thing is that you can put on the rise and just leave it. If it will be ready before the main dish it doesn’t matter. The rise will just benefit to dry up a little bit.
Gavin who?!😂 Quiet light photography was my first subscription on RUclips and your photos are exquisite! I also have most of your books-treasures! I’ll miss comedy hour but I’ll live!😎😊🥰
another interesting and informative video Adam thanks Thanks too for updating us on Gavin, was wondering where he had disappeared to Sad to think you guys will be unable to bring us your combined talents as much as we're used to
Disappointing that the 'dynamic duo' of Adam and Gavin will not be seem regularly, but so much potential for many more images in BC. Keep up the great work.
Adam, when Gavin settles in, be sure to take advantage and spend some time with him in Nova Scotia. My wife and I visited Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island about 5 years ago and were very impressed with both the landscape and people.
Brilliant video. Loved seeing the raw and then finished photo. Fascinating. I liked the second waterfall best. Thought all the photos were excellent. I'm facinated by the amount of work you put into your videos. The directing and planning and then editing all the surplus work out . Thank you very much, I do appreciate it.
Teflon is actually fine as long as you use plastic or wood in it so it doesn't get scratch. some sources say ingestion of small flakes/pieces aren't even toxic as it doesn't break down and passes through you.
You make it look so easy....! Thank you for sharing your talent with us Adam, and thank you for being so honest in your videos by explaining that when a shot isn't coming together its ok to move around and reset the composition!
Awesome photos as usual. Sad news about Gavin. Hopefully you'll head out to visit and we'll get to see what sort of photos you'll make of the east coast.
As always love your photos and always looking forward to watch your channel. My favorit to day is the very dark raw file of the 2. waterfall before editing.😍 Hope Gavin and Amanda get on well in Nova Scotia. I also enjoy a lot when you are with Bri 👍🏼
You are definitely in a beautiful part of the world Adam. Have you ever considered going to Tasmania? The Tarkine has many beautiful falls and features.
Great video, as usual, Adam I appreciated todays examples of different compositions, primarily in distance from the subjects and focal lengths. In particular, I find myself more drawn to the closer, more intimate, images. Personally I struggle with my 16-35mm in this regard, and consequently it doesn't come out of my bag much. These images, on the other hand, show the intimacy that is possible with wider lenses. Thank you for that, I am inspired! Kind of bittersweet feelings about Gavin and Amanda moving to the east coast. Sorry on the one hand that it sort of breaks you guys up (I've always enjoyed the banter between you!), but happy for Gavin and Amanda and the possibilities of their new adventure!
Adam, once again, beautiful work. You did a great job of bringing the shadow detail out. In both locations. Being in Florida it’s hard to find waterfalls. I use a small 2liter pressure cooker when I’m van camping or on the boat. Good for 1 or 2 people. Does a great job cooking rice, beans, vegetables, stews, turns tough cuts of beef into tender morsels. Saves your battery. Something with a adjustable flame works great. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Adam! I like the last photo. A lot going on but I really think the close up of the root and moss covered rock exemplifies the nature of the area - wet and beautiful.
What we do in the military to heat up packed food ( before opening) is to boil water and soak them. Or if we are on the move, just leave them on top of the engine for a few minutes. ;)
The new adventures of Adam and Gavin as true solo acts now begin. Best wishes to all of you. Maybe Gavin got tired of temperate rain forests; I know he's looking forward to fall foliage on the East coast. That is a wonderful waterfall and cascade you captured.
Another amazing video! I love waterfalls. I can't wait to start photographing the various falls near me in Niagara Region. The flow should be perfect in a week or 2..can't wait!
Wow, I am utterly surprised to hear Gavin and Amanda are basically moving to the very far side of Canada. I first came to watching your channel regularly after seeing you on his channel. Looking forward to Waterfall Season here, this video helped prime my pump for that.
Such pleasing scenes and they must be very impressive then the stream is in full flow. Interesting news about Amanda and Gavin and it will be fun to see their diy efforts in due course. They are a lovely couple...
It always amazes me when I see you pull together a composition. I always feel like I get awestruck by say a stunning waterfall and I never manage to work the composition enough and end up with a mediocre waterfall portrait. The framing of the falls within the mossy roots was what really brings you into the scene. Thanks again for bringing us along. Now I'm gonna have to go back and find your first video of these falls.
We’re gonna miss the humour and fun between you and Gavin, (and I wouldn’t be surprised if you miss each other a little too), but I know you’ll both keep going with stunning landscape photography. And that’s also why many of us here. I always learn something . . . .
Makes me sad to hear you n Gavin won’t be getting up to your crazy shenanigans anymore. But you have a loyal follower here and I enjoy your videos , so I’m not going anywhere 😀All the best to Gavin and Amanda on their new adventures 💜
Hi Adam this is a beautiful time of the year to spend beside a creek looking for photographs, and your way to compose images is very inspirational, thanks for sharing, ciao!
Your video of the area near the Sooke Potholes brings back interesting memories. Freshly out of school and finding work at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, we explored the area around Victoria and found ourselves at the Potholes with another couple. Not sure it was a provincial park in those days but it was a popular spot to swim - even though the water was icy cold. A few other people were present and so were a couple of girls who were enjoying the relative seclusion and were topless. They had a Doberman with them - still remember the name - it was Rocky - and although we tried to respect their privacy, at one point, Rocky came over for a visit and one of the girls came running over to grab him. We had a nice conversation and off they went. The west coast was like that in those days. Not sure if it still is. In any case, it was an incredibly beautiful spot and a little further on the timberframe remnants of a once planned resort were interesting to explore! Never did see the waterfall you feature here. Thanks for the video and the composition tips! Always enjoy them.
What beautiful waterfalls! And great video. Love the thought process you give us. 🤗 On the cooking side, I have a mini rice cooker I leave at work. I’ve cooked lots of stuff in there. Raw chicken breast (cut into small pieces), turned out great. I’ve also poached salmon, and even cooked a hamburger in there once (not ideal, but it did the trick)! It’s not just for rice 😊. You know, just in case you run out of propane or something. 👍 Thanks Adam!
Thanks for the video and photos, at the top as always !!! I am very sorry to hear that you and Gavin will not be making many videos together in the future !!! Aside from the fact that you are both top photographers, your pairing was something hilarious, like hanging out with some crazy and unpredictable friends. Obviously I will continue to follow both of them, indeed I can't wait to watch Gavin's next video after the move, but I'm really disappointed, it will never be the same ...
I really enjoy seeing you shoot scenes that I have photographed. It’s definitely humbling seeing you come away with so many nice compositions where I struggled to find just one. Thanks Adam, I learned a lot from this!
Stunning waterfalls indeed, and great photos as usual Adam. Learning a lot from you in your vlogs. Going to miss your adventures with Gavin and Amanda, but as you say, wishing them the best and also look forward to the new places they explore.
I remember hearing about the Sooke pot holes when I was stationed in Esquimalt in the late 70’s early 80’s. It was a party place at that time I believe. I rode by it on a 200 km bike ride last year and was surprised how beautiful the area was and it is all regional/provincial parked up. I did not have a long time to explore but what I saw was beautiful. Thanks for going and showing me more of it. Nova Scotia is a nice place and lived there as well and would go back but only to visit BC has always been my home and it is hard to imagine leaving it.
Beautiful Images Adam! the Van is looking good! seeing your work helps get me off my butt to see if I can find more interesting areas around Toronto. Inspiring me to keep learning and clicking.
Great video Adam, I love how sharp everything looks. I don’t know much about photography but I’m learning bit by bit watching you guys and your vlogs. My personal preference for your photos this week are the raw files for the mossy tree images. I think I like them because the moss and greenery is darker and more realistic looking, although the lightened images do have a lovely dream-like quality. Going to miss you and Adam but it’s a good excuse for an adventure in the future.
Life just improved! It's Sunday morning and there's a new Adam Gibbs video. Excellent.....just wish we had some water in California. Not much in the way of waterfalls near me. Thanks for showing us the beauty of BC Canada Adam. Some of the videos you did with Gavin are amongst my favorite RUclips content ever! I look forward to Gavin and Amanda exploring Nova Scotia. Anyone reading this have any input on ball heads? I was looking at getting a RRS BH-55 but notice Adam is using a FLM.....I've been using an Arca-Swiss B-1 and get aggravated at it getting sticky. Fine compositional changes can be hard to make.
Hi Terry. Little feedback on the BH-55. I’ve been using mine for well over a decade and never had a single problem with it. I’ve put it through some pretty tough paces including beach sand, saltwater, mud, etc and somehow the ball has stayed really smooth and locks solid through it all. That said, I’d think hard whether you really need the BH-55 over it’s smaller cousin the BH-40. As I’ve gotten older, lightening my pack for longer hikes has become more of a priority. I don’t use big lenses (70-200 being my heaviest), and the BH40 would be fine for my needs. Hope that helps.
You may have also noticed Gavin has a BH-30 and had no problems with it even shooting the big Fuji GFX kit. Unless you're shooting really heavy stuff, that or the BH-40 should do perfectly.
Thank you for the replies guys. I think I'll look at the BH-40. I had a BH-55 at the time I had a 500 f/4 and it was a great head for a heavy lens. My longest lens now is a 300 f/4 lens which I'm sure a lighter head would be fine. I'm also getting older and lighter is definitely a good thing. It's hard going wrong with the Really Right Stuff equipment. Except for the price maybe!
Hi Adam, I enjoyed this video very much, the photos of the waterfalls and the trees are just fantastic. I think it’s as they say, you have to go back many times to the same location and get to know your subject to get the true picture of the place, your experience of this location certainly shone through, I loved the outcome. Shame that you and Gavin(and Amanda) are not going to be doing much for the foreseeable future you made a great team. You both brought fun into photography and made these type of videos not only educational but a pleasure to watch and enjoy the laughs you brought to us at the same time. This has certainly improved my photography this last couple of years so thank you for that. Meantime I will still be tuning into your videos and picking up more interesting ways to improve my photography :) I hope Gavin and Amanda settle in to their new home and enjoy their lives there, who knows perhaps they will invite you over for a week or two to help with their painting and decorating😁or maybe just for a wee holiday and the odd photoshoot near where they are now living. Thanks for sharing such a useful informative video, I look forward to seeing more 👍😁
Lovely photos - waterfalls are one of my favorite things to shoot. However, I am so saddened to hear that Gavin and Amanda moved. I will really miss your joint exploits and videos and all the banter, hijinks and laughter. Hope you guys can find a way to get together often.
I really love waterfall shots and the way you compose them. The rice cooker was a good idea. Sadly I can’t buy the Jetboil double burner stove here in Australia 🇦🇺
Amazing flow on that waterfall. Great location. I visited Sooke Pot Holes years ago when I was out on the island visiting my niece. Great area. Lovely images. Will be strange not to see Gavin and Amanda on your channel. I'm sure its just a matter of time before you are visiting and collaborating once again on the East Coast though.
Great set of images this week. Loved the water, rocks, trees and moss! This felt like a "classic" Adam Gibbs vlog. I will also be moving to Nova Scotia in the next month or two, but down the South Shore rather than where Gavin is. I admit I'm looking forward to seeing some east coast images on his channel. If you get down to the Lunenburg area please look me up! Cheers!
I photographed both Todd creek and Maryvine Falls this winter when we had one of our snow falls. Sooke Potholes are really beautiful when it's all snow and ice.
Long time viewer and subscriber of this channel decided to put a comment for the first time. Love your photography . I really like the haunting music you used in videos. can you tell me where to find that music.
Hi Adam! Enjoyable, as always. On a more mundane note, your Kase link for Ca and the US- I can't find a mention of Kase anywhere on their site. Maybe they slid off of one those moss encrusted roots and floated down the stream? Cheers!
Adam, thank you for more beautiful photos! I must admit, I like the darker, moodier raw files. So sad to hear that your friend moved so far away. You two have made me laugh out loud so many times! There will be more. Something that I always worry about - bears! You often seem to be a few steps away from your bear spray . . .
Great stuff once again Adam as I've haven't left many comments of late, not sure why really, it is what it is, lol! I will always appreciate your approach to compositions Adam, the settings you use mean less to me versus the way you set up the shots & explain it... On a side note, I like the way you have shown the underexposed versions on these various waterfalls & then after your post work is completed, you bring up the exposures on those foregrounds to bring out the details more, perhaps a little to much imho, I kept hoping you'd bring those foregrounds up somewhere in between being to dark, but NOT to bright, thereby maintaining that certain air of mystery to the image... Keep 'em coming Adam, always a pleasure... Bill... :~)
Fabulous location Adam, really enjoyed it, here's hoping Gavin has time for new video locations and when you guys meet up again it will be all the more special....
We'll miss you too Grumpacious. By the time you come to visit we'll have a long list of locations for you to come and shoot with us. I'm gonna buy that mini rice cooker.
I hope that you do get chance to visit each other for more videos, and can do some shared trips to other countries over the next few years.
Ah man, I think my heart broke just a little bit when you said that collaborating with Gavin won’t be possible anymore…love your video’s together. That being said, I still love your channel and will continue to watch and smash that Like button. Thanks for the video, Adam. Keep ‘‘em coming.
Wow, I've been watching your channel keenly for 4 years?!! Still love them equally. Thanks Adam.
I’ll definitely miss the antics and humor of your adventures with Gavin. But your wonderful videos stand alone and are always top notch.
Going to MISS Gavin... & you and all the laughs and shenanigans. I give them 2 years as they become home sick and move back to BC!
He probably still has his channel.
Love the mood of the third image
Just noticed the message on your insulated beverage holder. Classic! (Great images!)
Just as others have said, what a huge shame such a brilliant team are no longer going to be together as often.
You and Gavin have been fantastic together and have such fantastic comedic timing. A real Morecombe and Wise, Laurel and Hardy combination, its been a true pleasure to watch you both in action.

Take care and keep safe both of you. Look forward to the next video.
My favourite subject. Loved it!
I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. I have a lot to learn, and I'm finding that your presentations are a wealth of information.

I will hugely miss your hilarious inimitable partnership with Gavin, you so complement each other.- but I wish you, and Gavin and Amanda the very best and look forward to your own adventures , and an eventual reunion
It's really helpful seeing the raw file and then the processed image.
Good to hear
I agree with you Adam, west coast are the best coast. Sorry to hear Gavin and Amanda moving. Nice photographs.
Not the dynamic duo! Very sorry to hear you can't work as much together with the move. You very much seemed to enjoy each other's company. Great video Adam! I really enjoy seeing the raw image transition to the edited version and how you explain your shots. Looking forward to the next one!

I appreciate the update on Gavin and Amanda. We'll be expecting to see his interpretation of Peggy's Cove. As usual, enjoyed your video.

Disappointing that the 'dynamic duo' of Adam and Gavin will not be seem regularly, but so much potential for many more images in BC. Keep up the great work.
Don't blame you for not wanting to leave, as your corner of the world is stunning, as are your images!
Absolutely stunning waterfalls! They are my absolute favorite subjects to photograph. Thank you Adam for returning and sharing this amazing place
Beautiful photos Adam. Thanks for the Gavin/Amanda update, looking forward to his videos from Nova Scotia.
Thanks for another great video
I'm glad you are still on the island. BC is the most beautiful place on Earth.

You can’t beat a good forest shot with the added bonuses of bright green mosses, and a fantastic Waterfall.
Great video Adam!👍
Especially loved the last shot. I also enjoyed the insight into van life 👏
Great video. Thanks
You make it look so easy....! Thank you for sharing your talent with us Adam, and thank you for being so honest in your videos by explaining that when a shot isn't coming together its ok to move around and reset the composition!

Love your videos. Educational and beautiful. Thanks for explaining and showing the raw vs processed.
Stunning waterfalls photos Adam. Excellent photos. Keep up the good work.

Ps brown or black rice is healthier for you. Just saying :)
Thanks as always for another great video and wonderful images! Definitely going to miss your collaboration with the Fototripper and the Mrs!

My Sunday is complete! Love the explanations of your shot process for every shot. This is an education for me.
Beautiful shots as usual.

Stunning! 🙏💙
I really enjoy seeing you shoot scenes that I have photographed. It’s definitely humbling seeing you come away with so many nice compositions where I struggled to find just one. Thanks Adam, I learned a lot from this!
Magnificent images Adam! Always beautiful work you showcase for us. Have a great week.
I’m bummed to hear Gavin moved, I did enjoy the videos you two did together. As usual the waterfall images were great!
Stunning waterfalls indeed, and great photos as usual Adam. Learning a lot from you in your vlogs. Going to miss your adventures with Gavin and Amanda, but as you say, wishing them the best and also look forward to the new places they explore.

Hi Adam love the videos. Shame about Gavin moving. How did you end up in BC? Love to know at bit more of your history😃
BH-55 is an excellent ball head, you can't go wrong.
I use a BH30 as well. I don't really use it with any lens heavier than a 70-200, it works fine though
Thanks for sharing such a useful informative video, I look forward to seeing more 👍😁
Hey you have a John E Marriott license plate, great choice!
Hi Adam! It’s always inspiring watching your channel! Keep up the great work 👍🏼
Lovely photos - waterfalls are one of my favorite things to shoot.
Cool vid and images. Bummer re: Gavin. It’ll be cool journeying with you in the next chapter.
By the way , when you visit G make sure you do the Cabot Trail in the fall, you’ll love it. You will also learn to appreciate lighthouses!
Cheers!
My younger brother lives in Chester so perhaps I will
I photographed both Todd creek and Maryvine Falls this winter when we had one of our snow falls. Sooke Potholes are really beautiful when it's all snow and ice.
Long time viewer and subscriber of this channel decided to put a comment for the first time. Love your photography . I really like the haunting music you used in videos. can you tell me where to find that music.
waw amazing
Hi Adam! Enjoyable, as always. On a more mundane note, your Kase link for Ca and the US- I can't find a mention of Kase anywhere on their site. Maybe they slid off of one those moss encrusted roots and floated down the stream? Cheers!
A lovely photo at 16:40. I am wondering though, how it would look if you cropped in from the left about 2-3 inches. A worthwhile video, as always.
To clarify my comment, more towards a square format.
