Great comparison, Erica. When I bought Haltane in January ‘23, I considered OFG ; so glad I chose Haltane. Haltane is my signature scent that I wear year round. The oud and saffron with the sweetness of the praline note is decadent.
I left my OFG at my mothers house last year. She is in love with OFG. I am currently stationed in Japan and it is starting to get cold at night. I finally bought OFG and Haltane recently and I can't wait to get them both. I have owned PDM Fragrances and Initio. Awesome House. I have tried many niche houses to include Amouage, but PDM and Initio works for me the best. Awesome review BTW. I loved it.

Good job! For me Haltane , Kalan and Oud for Greatness share very many similarities. Oud for greatness has more prominent saffron and smells more "niche" than haltane. Kalan stands in the middle of those 2 IMO . More mass appealing of those 3 would be Haltane.

They are both great frags... If I was choosing one over the other, I'd take Haltane... I find it a little more smoothed out around the edges

Great video. Looking to add some kinda Oud frag. How does Haltane stack up to Oud Wood by TF? Haven’t smelt either n I’m only looking to get one
I agree with your comparison, what people maybe mean when they say that OFG is more sweet, that it is more dense in my opinion. So as you said, Haltane could also be pulled off in a little warmer weather, where OFG would be too much.
But what should also be considered, and is important to a lot of people is, that on my Skin, Haltane performes decent, i get like 8 hours of longevity on the skin, on clothed definately more. But OFG is an absolute beast, it performes way better than Haltane.
The performance is part of why i prefer Haltane. Isn’t as loud as OFG which makes it more versatile imo. Also like the sweetness from the praline note. And i get atleast 12 hours so no longevity issues for me.
@ Yes, i wouldn't call it an issue, but when you come from OFG like performance and think Haltane is similar, not so much, at least not for me.
Haltane hands down! I also love layering it with Amouage Epic 56 to experience green aroma bomb at its finest!

Very accurate review. On point. Haltbar performance is not as good as OFG. A cheaper alternative that is a beast and gets massive compliments is Alexander Fragrances - Ouddiction
Do you think there’s a similarity between Layton and Haltane?
I get their are differences but there seems like 1 or 2 notes that are just different

I have to check out Haltane, everything I have tried from Parfums de Marly has been great quality, I tried oud to greatness and was disappointed maybe I need to check it out again but I would give the benefit out of the doubt to Parfums de Marly. When I tried out some initio's I was disappointed and thought the presentation was better than the actual juice
I haven't tried oud for greatness that much but it's a little bit more my thing then Haltane. But in the netherlands i don't see it any lower then €290 and i'm just not doing that.

I think OFG, Haltane, and Sauvage Elixir make a Venn diagram with saffron and agarwood as the main overlap.
This will be a great ride. Just starting it. My opinion is initio OFG is so much better. Haltane smells so synthetic in my opinion.

Oud for Greatness is fantastic but it's smells pretty dry. Haltane I find to be more wearable and I like the slight sweetness in it. 😊

Oud greatness is not smoky it's spicy and sweet
I mean, Haltane starts out very nice then gets REALLY smoky with a natural gas scent. Although dry, Oud for Greatness holds onto a nicely blended scent throughout. The two things I don’t like about Oud for Greatness are the bottle and the price.

Another great comparison is Haltane and Michael Malul Amber+Smoke. I think they smell more similar than OFG and Haltane. It's a very nice scent, of course the quality isnt the same but the DNA is similar

I have tried two different decants for OFG and they both smelled like cheap iHOP pancake syrup. Didn't get any smoke or incense note in OFG. This was from 2 different sources.

Hands down it’s HALTANE for me as well. No cap, I like both fragrances. Sampled both on skin and HALTANE KO’s Oud for Greatness every single time. For me, it’s that sweetness in HALTANE that adds a little mystery to it. Oud for Greatness is classy like you said. BUT HALTANE… HALTANE… chefs kiss 👌🏻👌🏻. I would want to see a Sugar Leather vs. OAJAN comparison.

Surprised you didn't cover performance. Both smell great, but I have 3 bottles of OFG and 0 of Haltane because OFG's longevity and projection always ends up being far better than Haltane's, and I've tested Haltane many times to try to give it a fair shot because it gets a lot of love.
It’s interesting because the 2 men I know who wear Haltane say it lasts and I can always smell them 💃

Nah I have a sample of haltane and I be spraying it at 9pm after my shower then sleep a little later, wake up at 7 and I still smell it on me 😂
I’ve got OFG, I also tried Haltane but like you it just didn’t last on me.
Must be certain skin types because I also found Initio side effect and Herod didn’t last on me and I’m pretty sure it isn’t down to nose blindness because many others last all day.
OfG performs much better in my opinion. I tested both yesterday, and OfG is much stronger on the test stripe after 36 hours. Haltane is also still recognizable, but OfG is much more present. But I mean they are both strong, and they are there to stay. Haltane is very good, but OfG is a beast, better be careful on the trigger.
For initio go for Oud For Greatness (Oud For Assness) .
For PDM go for Layton .

Haltane is awesome, but it performs way worse than OfG, especially after PdM reformulated all their scents. So OfG is much more worth it.
I agree 100%. Oud is so over hyped. It does not have character and pleasantness. Oud smells to woody and mono tone
