Can say I have the 45L and was able to put it under the seat infront of me (middle seat economy/3rd class American Airlines). It was full but not stuffed to it's limit. YMMV That being said, watched this review before purchasing the bag and was one of the most informative ones. Came back to see if the PD tech pouch can easily clip on to the pack via the loops and some locking S carabiners
Bookmarked so I can check this before my next long airline trip… bought this as my 3rd gig bag so I can take my three cameras for video shoots with me at EOD but bigger than Bevisgear (which is better as my daily sling bag for single camera, two lenses and flash units)
You forgot the place where you store the outside packing straps! Have you missed that! You have it in the front and in the lower part, magnitized as well... Too many things with this backpack! 😉 Anyway it is brilliant!
Looking at backpacking south east Asia and I wanted your opinions if you thought this bag would suit. I’ll be partly working and partly adventuring, so need something that can handle computers and small tech equipment, whilst also being dynamic enough to jump on a scooter in Ho Chi Minh or walking across cities with a full load. Would you rate this bag for that? I’m concerned it might not be comfortable enough and that I’ll feel like I’m carrying 65L around (my nightmare). Thanks so much
Hey Alexandra. Unless you are petite, this bag should be excellent for that. It’s nowhere near the size of a classic backpacker’s backpack. That said, this bag is quite big for daily carry. I do use it as a daily carry and I am relatively tall (186 cm) and it’s still big for that on me-but just tolerable. That makes it so great for me: it’s the one bag that can handle anything.
@@michelezanolla7154 hi! I’m currently in Vietnam so might be able to give you a hand. I actually ended up going rogue and went with the new Osprey 40L Fairview as the Peak Designs sold out and the Tortuga isn’t available in my area. Overall, I’m actually really enjoying it. Good size, feels comfortable on, nice little laptop pocket at the back. The only thing is that it has minimal organisation so I have to use quite a lot of cubes/extra bags to organise my things. Hope this helps!
This bag weighs over 2Kg’s - can you comment on whether the heaviness of the bag impacted on the amount of stuff that you were able to pack into it and still remain under the carry-on limit of most airlines.
Hey Tre. I’ve never had an airline ask to weigh this bag. I tend to avoid super low-cost carriers though. I stuff the bag pretty full with electronics etc. so it does get heavy, but I don’t mind it.
Thank you for this great review ! I am in the same situation as you were a few months before: I am hesitating between this one and the AER Travel pack 3... After a lot of researches I still can't decide 😅 My need is a 3 to 5 days travel backpack, with laptop. But I’m not a photographer and I have the impression the Peak Design is optimized for photographers. Also not sure 45L is what I need for 5 days max, but the 30L version would be too small. So I guess I will go for the AER (35L). What do you think ? ;)
For my needs, the 30L would be too small for 5 days. But I don’t exactly pack light. I’m sure you’d be happy whichever bag of the three you go for, though.
I bought it - I love your reviews of everything. On this bag, have you tried making the bag 30 L and after that opening the expansion so now you have 40 L? Thanks
I don’t mean to be mean or a troll but you should look up all the things in this world that are made from animal products other than food or leather. Like many medicines, asphalt, beer, soap, mouthwash, shaving creams, paper products, just to name a few. The other thing that concerns me is how much energy is used to make a bag from plastic bottles. We shouldn’t be drinking all that water (and other beverages) from plastic bottles in the first place. What’s wrong with water from the faucet using the same glass. Also, what about clothes made from polyester - it probably takes just as long to degrade as those plastic bottles. We should be wearing cotton and natural fibers. Just some food for thought. It would be good if you would include this information on your videos as I do like them and your content.

I have this bag too & (like you) decided to buy a small rolling bag to haul it on longer “hikes” thru airports).
You missed the bottom front magnetic pouch and the rain cover you can put in there. Great review of a great backpack!
I knew I’d forget one!

Thank you Alexandra, it helps! The osprey is always a candidate, so good to know it is comfortable! Enjoy Vietnam and the rest of your trip!!
It´s great to (still) give some love to the PD travel bag!

Great review of a bag. Thanks
Pls do not misunderstand me , im watching your videos with pleasure
Nice review. Did you ever put the tortuga V4 on your options? I really like the peak design but the tortuga's confort seems better.
Thank you! No, I’ve never tried that bag
How big a laptop can it store?
Nice! Thanks!

Awesome! Yeah I’ve opened the expansion to make it really, really big when I’ve traveled on trains.
Hi. Can this Peak design backpack be taken as hand luggage on international airlines like e.g Turkish airlines?
Absolutely, I’ve taken it as hand luggage on Turkish Airlines
@@PeterAkkies thanks for great review, one of the best
Where do you find from about a bag details like this 😀 I imagened not to finish thats you tell....its so big talent👍
Can I use it while traveling by Ryanair?
Not sure
Not sure
Will this bag fit under an airplane seat in 30 or 35L?
Doubtful, Aaron. Maybe on the roomiest of planes. Or maybe if you’re very small-but I need that leg space for my legs.
If you travel with this plus a carry on roller, do you get stopped at the gate for having two carryons? Cause this doesn’t fit under the front seat.
@@martafinkelstein I use this as my only carry-on so I don’t know. But yeah, this bag almost certainly won’t fit under the seat in front of you.
You should look for another travel bag that is Civic Travel Bag or CTF35l . A great one .
You don’t know what people can do with your passport? Oh buddy, you’re so naive
