I watch this show to be entertained. There's basically no chance that I'll actually build anything I see on here. It's just cool to see what you can do, and adding silly little things makes it more enjoyable I think.
The Tank I drove had a Accelerator as normal and a Motor Bike type Gear Selector, (No Clutch) and Forward/Reverse Transfer Lever, So I don't know what Tank you drove?
The noise and chugging might be because that motor doesn't like to be run with pulsed square waves. A sine wave would definitely be quieter and smoother.
same i honestly wish i could do stuff like this to help disabled people all the time. I would really love to help amputees as well some day. Hopefully i can get this biology degree and then maybe minor in computer engineering or something and start helping people
why is there so many hates ben is doing a good thing for a disabled person! dont be evil!!! ben should be applauded for this not put down for your horrible comments -- @Tom Wilson @TitoTheGreak @Darkinertia2
I have an old tablet laptop (with touch screen, not one of those special pens), and it no longer works. I was wondering if it would be at all possible to use the touchscreen as an extra monitor / drawing tablet for a pc. I'm guessing it isn't, or would be hard since the controller for that stuff is probably part of the motherboard on the laptop, but if it is, that would be great. It's an HP Pavilion TX1000 Anyway, it's just an idea.
Thank you Ben Heck!! Finally I understand H bridge, since Im a design engineer, and just starting to apply automation on my design :D. Keep on hacking Ben!!
lol @ 11:55 MLG dual-wielding. I'd be interested to hear more about how you end up mapping joystick input to motor control... You have to bad discontinuities, such as when the stick is pushed completely to the right (in-place right turn) and then moved slightly back (reverse in-place right turn==left turn!?). Also, what to do about the audible buzz from low-value PWM? You want to offer a large range of control at the lowest speeds but it has to be whisper-quiet. There must be a solution...
Ben, I bought a Raspberry PI via E14 cause of you. Also made a new startup with you in mind, I would LOVE to send one of Digital Apparel items to you...
Seriously? You get easily annoyed. There's so many other great things about this video and you focus on the toothpick? Great video Ben, I'm sure Josh really appreciated all you've dine for him :) Keep up the great videos!
THE MAN IS ASKING FOR SOMETHING WHICH IS ALL READY INVENTED, AND PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS WITH SEVER CONDITIONS SOMETIMES USE THESE THING, BUT THIS GUY IS SAVING THEM MONEY BY BUILDING ONE.
depends i guess. if the concept is already taken then you cant use it for profit. plus i pretty sure ben doesn't do anything so someone else can make profit.
This wouldn't work for me, because I can't use my feet, but I love that you're doing something for people with disabilities. Oh, and get rid of the frickin' toothpick!
Ben could you make an keyboard like the WASD but you can plug it into the xbox 360 and use it on there? And space could be a R and could be x could be B and shift could be pushing down the left anologe stick and v could be pushing down the right anologe stick.I love your show!!!If you would give it to me i will put it on my youtube channel Cporductions and yes i know it is spelled wrong that's how i like it. please!!!!!!! :)
They did invent it but I'm guessing that he wanted to save money because he couldn't use insurance for it since its for a baby not no arms so I'm guessing he had no way to afford or buy a motorized chair so he also wanted to teach pepole how to Mel it
i hate stupid people who ask celebrities youtube celebrities for birthday messages... i mean seriously, there are over 7 billion people on earth which means thet you share your birthday with MILLIONS of people. if celebrities were to actually give out messages to birthday people, they couldnt do it. how would u like to send a message saying "hi" to 30 million people, EVERY DAY?!?!?!?
Helping others is always good Love seeing that...
Hey
I had this idea years ago, but didn't have the technical skill and knowledge to build it. I'm so stoked Ben built one. I really need to get this.
It was a difficult project to tackle in just two weeks - chomping on the toothpick helped to channel some of the frustration :)
That's true. This project was created for Josh in particular to best suit his needs.
Glad it was useful!

I liked the part about the H-bridges. Very informative! This is why I love your show. :)
That was pretty awesome. I love product that help disabled people.
The Tank I drove had a Accelerator as normal and a Motor Bike type Gear Selector, (No Clutch) and Forward/Reverse Transfer Lever, So I don't know what Tank you drove?
You should get this onto kickstarter and help lots more people, I love it :)
Can't wait till next time! :D keep up the great work! I want to get as good as you someday! - aspiring mechanical engineer
Helping disabled people with toothpick in your mouth adds a rebellious flair to the otherwise good and noble deed

this is one EPIC build Ben...
The concept is great. An add on for an existing chair. Is this a new idea our was it one you modified for this purpose?
Noted.

Great episode, Ben my man!
So the hum at 10:53 is caused by PWM? I am asking because I have same thing with small motors in my arduino car :).
That shirt at the beginning and end if the video! :-)
are those n-channel enhancement power mosfets? or which ones?
I love watching Ben Heck, Even though I have no idea what hes talking about XD
what about swinging the feet side to side to trigger the chair. that way it would have an at rest spot. by the way love the toothpick ;)

Those motors make a hell of a noise.
Mr Ben heck
what is the specs of the motor used ?

very impressive mods! you make kipkay look like a amateur lol.
Has anyone found a link to the arduino code for this project? I know it seems straight forward, but I'm struggling nonetheless.
omg thx m8 ur the best
Hey guy, do you know if Ben has an instructional video of making a ps2 portable?
The idea was Josh's.
hey be can u make a flower pot that can give water to the plants automatically
I saw your price for Xbox 360 Slim Laptops, are they really $10,000?
I wanna be an engineer like you!
i agree to the max
hey ben can u make a flower pot that can give water to the plants automatically

I think that it is
Emitter
Base
Collector

I dont think he's completely paralyzed. 12:30 he moves his foot to get out of the way of the wheelchair.
Every other Monday? It's been like 3 weeks now hasn't it?
1:47 LOL
Try a 3DS like stick or a psp like stick not so rounded more flat and still able to move.
This wouldn't work for me, because I can't use my feet, but I love that you're doing something for people with disabilities.
Oh, and get rid of the frickin' toothpick!
The bobble heads is in his hand
a mosfet is a transistor.
its been 2 weeks!
Nice idea but won't the noise irritate the baby and make it cry?
that's how you know it works well
the noise of the motoros is very loud!
handicap equipment is really expensive every diy helps
The guy was holding the bobble head
**You have to avoid bad discontinuities
people it was built for someone specific! its not for everyone
that would make sense if he had 7 billion subscribers
hmm... then send it on over.
what's up with the toothpick?
New baby? That is redundant! Have you ever heard of an old baby?

hi
Hes using a MOSFET not a transistor
It's because he's a bad-ass.
Look at modern excavators.
i know it i have made a rc car like this with sw
more game hacks, less life hacks
why you mad tho' ?
he can move his legs.
email benheckshow@gmail.com
Not really, most people do not hold a child with only one arm.
Not toothpick its a lolipop
They did invent it but I'm guessing that he wanted to save money because he couldn't use insurance for it since its for a baby not no arms so I'm guessing he had no way to afford or buy a motorized chair so he also wanted to teach pepole how to Mel it
why was there a toothpick in your mouth the whole video?
Just like most you tube users can't use "their", "there" and "they're" correctly.
the toothpick was so annoying
OR, you could have just made the control horizontal, thus avoiding all that pointless engineering.
What's everyones problem with the toothpick. So what? Does it really matter to you all that much?
Potato
did you know most disabled people cannot use there legs
Mumbling a bit due to joystick :/
Toothpick was very annoying!
Ben it's my birthday can u hook me up with a hi or something in my message box pleaseeee
Obviously not every man in a wheelchair can use his foot...
Don't incorporate stupid distractions in your videos. Toothpick was annoying and took away from the quality of the video.
first

second jajajaja
So horribly over engineered....exactly what is wrong with 90% of the electronics already in existences.
Your so extra instead of having two tank like joysticks and pedals you could just use one normal joystick to do it all.
building a new pc who wants to give me 5000 dollars
What is up with the toothpick?
