that's actually pretty clever. Now, one might learn how to ride a bike, but, seeing as I, for instance, lack depth perception, it'd be handy. Though, out in front would be more of where I'd want to point it.
I have never heard this term, but yes! The effect is 2-sided as well: people wearing a helmet take more risk because of something called risk-compensation. You see the same thing with car drivers riding on snow tires.
Ben should have won the Hak5 challenge. That guy didnt make a case, he bought a backpack. "Lets go to a lan party and sniff packets!!!!" "Naahh.. I think ill play some games on Ben's awesome lan pc."
not to mention the effect is true theres a ton of evidence to support it especially in the military where safety equipment like body armor has become standard. any time something is made safer most people feel safer and take more risks and act in a less safe manner. psych 101 would be your friend.
could of added something so that when both the side distances are equal and within the blinking area they blink red but the light also goes green because not everywhere will have wide gaps and that would allow you to know if you're in center even if its a tight gap making it allot safer
Hey Ben, can you build a colar that will make an annoying noise when the man wearing it swears, just like the on the movie of south park, only that it will be on the wrist and not on the neck, and will make an annoying noise instead of shock. Love your vids. Keep up the good work.
Dude, you should totally come up with a vibrational or audio feedback instead of LED as something for the blind to walk around or something similar to that
Wearing bicycle helmets actually increases the chance you get in an accident involving a car, because automobilists take more risks you with you when you wear a helmet.
its no more concentrating breaking than people actually using their indicators, if your attention is grabbed from the road that easily by blinking lights, you probably shouldnt be driving.
lol how about the fact if your head gets ran over period your dead, in addition to the force your next is going to experience snapping it like a twig the helmets are only made of abs or high density foam and can only take a few hundred pounds of force. a cars weight alone would crush it let alone the added force from the vehicles velocity and the velocity of falling. the only thing it protects you from is impact with static objects like the ground or a pole.
this is the most useless thing hes ever made.. 1. wouldnt u be trying to pay attention to the road instead of blinking leds? 2. the sensors are aimed directly to the sides of you, when they go off wouldnt it already be too late and possibly hit something? lol so dumb.. angle them forward a bit so its an advanced warning and maybe a sound alert so you could keep your eyes on the road? or learn how to ride a bike? haha
Best...Ben...Heck...Ending...Ever!
That's exactly right!
Perhaps an audible alarm would keep the rider's eyes on the road.
Bonus points for the classy pipe
@sousuke121 yup! we wanted it to be the best quality it could be. Sorry about that.
That's true. The Mary Poppins Effect.

You could say that for almost anything he makes.
I'm surprised his house isn't fully automatised so lights turn on only when its dark and someone is in the room and windows open and close etc
that servo is gonna strip

maybe with a wider detection range, or a scalable detection range
in regards to the bicycle mod
a dynamo might work well with a bicycle

I wonder how hard it would be to make your own back-up camera?
We're all dorks. :)
You should try to make the most cost effective 3d printer you can. Extreme DIY. Use recycled materials and try not to buy much
HI-FIVE Heck yeah!!

Iron Man will return
Think they re-uploaded because it stayed at 240p lol
