Floating balances wear out, are somewhat pricey, and more difficult to adjust thsn a pendulum. The upside is that they are fairly easy to install and you can move the clock around without any damage to the escapement.
needed to narrow my discovery research for clock lingo. I want to order a mantle or wall clock idea with an 'eternal' type floating escapement/balance wheel exposed. thank you
great video - i tried both ways and no change, also the clock stops after 2-3 days - any ideas? Also very tough to make the adjustment without taking movement out of clock - any ideas on how to make it easier?
I have been looking for you. I can't tell you how long I have been looking for the image you provided on how to adjust the speed of my Tambour Mantle clock. Thank you very much.
Does anyone know how to keep the floating balance moving? When I move it in my Smite mantelpiece clock, it stops quickly and the clock stops working. Help PLease
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY MANTLE CLOCK.I TOOK THE BACK OFF AND OILED EVERY PIN WHOLE ON THE BACK ANY PIN THAT LOOK IT WOULD MOVE . OIL THE STEM BELOW THE SPRING AND ANY THING THAT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD MOVE.YOU NEED TO USE Tri-Flow OIL IT'S SUPER SLICK. WE USE IT AT WORK.MY DAD GAVE MY DAUGHTER A CLOCK THAT WOULD NO STAY RUNNING AND THAT'S WHAT I DID.LEAVE IT ON IT'S FACE FOR ABOUT A HOUR. HOPE IT WORKS.
