I bought two of these palms. They stayed in my home for about a week when it was a bit cold here in SC. I reposted them to outside with fresh soil. It usually loves the full sun and light breeze. I did this outdoors near my pool last year. This year they are turning brown from tips and light brown. It has rained a couple of days and the pot has great drainage holes. What is going on with my majesty palm? help
Mine looks similar. Moved indoors mid-Oct, originally purchased/repotted in May. Was thriving all summer, lots of new fronds outdoors. Now, this past month it's been going downhill. It started with one brown frond. I figured it was too close to radiator, and realized it wasn't getting enough water. Soaked it well, but then too much - water drained out the bottom. That happened twice over a two week period. If anything, plenty of water, but then I gave it a break, back to once a week. Now more multiple fronds are turning brown in the past two weeks. I'm hesitant to over-water now, and the top soil doesn't seem too dry. Could that over-watering a few weeks back done some kind of damage? (or created a bacterial/fungus problem down below?) I have 3-4 good fronds still, and 2 solid off-shoot new frond. Just not sure what went wrong.
Yay! Thank you! I'm sorry I'm late replying. Late spring/early summer is the busy time for our landscape business. We are getting back on track with postings and replies now though.
I bought mine from Ikea and placed it in a very very bright west facing living area and I've had to cut off three branches, weeks apart due to them turning brown and crispy. Is it possible the plant is getting too much light?
I keep my palms inside and they have good lighting and they were doing very good for eight months. Then I took him outside so I can clean the area they were in and it was windy and they blew them over and they fell on their sides, and after that, some of the prawns started to turn brown a week later, I’m guessing the roots were disturbed because I water them the same like I did for the first eight months. Thank you this video really did help.
No problem 👍 We always welcome feedback, both positive and negative. It's the only way to improve. Sorry I'm late replying. Our landscape business has been extremely busy.
I can't keep a majesty palm alive and have found cat palms to be easier to grow, but they don't look as refined and classy as a majesty. That must be how they got that name.
I'm having a problem with my cat at the moment. Also, I believe I am not watering it enough. It's just now starting to turn just a little brown so I added a little more water than usual.
Yes, it is. That just cam up. We didn't plant it there. However, we do water it very regularly. In fact, all the pots on our deck are watered regularly. It is interesting you brought this up because it's somethin we didn't think of.
I water mine twice a week and have removed from direct sun light exposure; now the plant is thriving!

I brought mind home and one was rotten I lost that one the other has just got two new plams after I repotted it. Is Epsom salts good for plams.
I have a question the prayer plant has bulbs at the bottom. Can you plant just them remove it from the bottom?
Thanks guys. You taught me a lot.

That definitely could be the problem. Try a bright but indirect spot instead of
Is it still alive

I think that's a good idea. As with our palm, the brown fronds may have to be cut off but the plant will produce new ones.
Uneven watering causes needs good strong light, roots don't like to be disturb, too much, plant willy eventually turn brown, better off starting off
Is that an asparagus fern growing in your palm pot? If so, I think those are water suckers and will rob your palm of moisture.
