Gents this whole series has been absolutely fantastic. I have a similar background, though as a layman. Born and raised in the charismatic/Rhema/prosperity gospel movement. By the work of the Spirit, confronted about my beliefs as a 39 year old man. Now four years later serving in worship ministry at a PCA church. How does that happen? The work of the Lord to discipline me, love me, and call my wife and children and me out of a false movement. Praise God!
James 5:15 (KJV) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15B and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Forgiveness of sins AFTER Regeneration
God works through people, yes? He worked through Paul and Peter and the prophets and the patriarchs. Does he not work through musicians and rhetoricians as well? How was his tabernacle crafted? How was his promised land conquered? How is his gospel preached? You can apply 1 Corinthians 2 too far I think. I don't know where the line is between faith and failing to act, both in liturgy and in life. Any insight?
I think if you are responding to a biblical message of the gospel after being confronted with your sin through the law, it is completely understandable to become emotional during worship. If the words of a song move you, there’s nothing wrong with that either. However when you manufacture music to intentionally provoke an emotional reaction, and THAT is the metric you use for if the spirit is at work, that is so dangerous. We become inwardly looking as a result and the work of the spirit becomes subjective and experience driven.
@@johannastromberg1224 so if the emotion comes from music rather than rhetoric it's dangerous? Or is it that conviction is an acceptable emotion and ecstacy is not? To clarify I'm looking for an answer to the question "why". What is it about certain forms of worship that is dangerous or distasteful? I do think perhaps you touched on a significant point when you described the convicting message as "biblical".
@@Lawofkings does God not appoint people to lead worship, worship pastors as they're often called? It seems to me that God would take an interest in such an important part of the Church. Was David acting by himself when he composed the Psalms? In addition to questioning the positions of Pastor and praiser, we could also question the holders of the positions. Is everyone acting as Pastor of a church following God's will? Are there none who God directs to become musicians? It seems to me that God appoints far more than Pastors, for the church is a body with many parts.
No one has any of the gifts that were given to the first century apostolic church. The last word spoken by God was through the apostle John when he penned the last verses of the Apocalypse. God has not spoken directly to anyone since. There are no tongues that only a few ever experienced and certainly no visions, dreams, or prophetic utterances by direct revelation of the Spirit. Those who are not satisfied by the sufficiency of scripture will be given over to Satans delusions just as it is in the pentacostl and charismatic denominations. Thankfully, God will deliver His elect out from among this pseudo Christianity and lead them to the truth. Which is the primary work of the one called the Spirit of truth.
Another excellent installment in this series! Very helpful!

Preaching has been appointed by God, a band hasn’t. I think it’s that simple.
