I wish Charles Larkey could hear what she's doing here with his bass line from the studio version of this tune, I'm sure he'd be pleased to see her take it and just really make it her own with her perfect time and touch on that bass, man
"Tapestry". One of the best albums ever made in musical history. Great tribute to Carole King, one of the greatest singer, songwriter, musicians ever. When I found out Lake Street Dive was the band singing on "Somebody Feed Phil", I had to track them down. I am so hooked. I miss this type of soulful, clear, crisp music. Great job!
Odd thing. In this interior, small room performance, you can kinda hear all the power Rachel isn't using. The world needs more of that. Saving the vocal harmony for just a few spots is just perfect. Wonderful performance.
In 1971, I rode down with three friends to the State Fair Music Hall in Dallas to see James Taylor. Mudslide Slim had not yet been released, but he was doing songs from it as well as Sweet Baby James. The opening act was a band called Jo Mama featuring Taylor's guitarist. However, the second act was a singer/songwriter touring in support of her album Tapestry. I've been fortunate enough to see some wonderful musical acts (including Lake Street Dive). None have ever absolutely stunned me the way Ms. King did that night. And this version took me right back to that place and time. Thanks.
Rachael is truly gifted with the voice of an Angel. Her vocal range is flat out amazing and this is a fitting tribute to the great Ms. King. Good, good stuff.
This is pure magic ♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!!! The beautiful rendition of Carole King's song, the intimacy of the moment, the arrangement, the Band and of course the angelical voice of Rachael. All together created a magical moment in these difficult times of Covid. Thank you Lake Street Dive 🥰🥰 👋👋👋👋
Ladies and gentlemen, Lake Street Dive. If you'd already heard of them you knew before hearing this how good it would be. If you hadn't heard of them? Now you won't forget.
"Cold Chills".. Swear to gawd, as soon as I hear her vocals.... Damn it... Carol King's version is the only version that has EVER done this to me before. Very well done.
I stumbled across Lake Street Dive years ago when I was checking out a Bose sound system at Best Buy...thank god for random ass licensing deals because they quickly became one of my favorite musical groups and I can't believe they aren't more popular. The sheer talent present in this group of artists is legendary.
So far away Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door Doesn't help to know you're just time away Long ago, I reached for you and there you stood Holding you again could only do me good How I wish I could, but you're so far away One more song about movin' along the highway Can't say much of anything that's new If I could only work this life out my way I'd rather spend it bein' close to you But you're so far away Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door Doesn't help to know you're so far away Yeah, you're so far away Traveling around sure gets me down and lonely Nothing else to do but close my mind I sure hope the road don't come to own me There's so many dreams I've yet to find But you're so far away Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door It doesn't help to know you're so far away Yeah, you're so far away Hey, you're so far away Thank you, you were very kind
As a child of the 60s, thanks for bringing back the oldies but goodies. I love your original music as well. You are all so talented and your music is so inspiring and touching. Thank you!❤️
Very sweet, smooth voice. I like natural sounding singers with vibrato like a purring cat. This is one of the first songs I learned when I started playing guitar in 1972. I played it over and over until my foster brother would bang on his ceiling with a broom handle and yell play another song I’m sick of that one.
I’ll take a Rachel Price covers Carol King album anytime.
Rachel is one of the best singers in the business and the world should know it!
She really is. It's insane. I don't understand how she is not the most famous person on the planet.

She's amazing
@@jeffreyevans9431 Would have been nice if you had left out your second sentence, or maybe stated it differently. But, I agree with the rest.
Effin Bridget man, she's just so sweet and so slick, what great player.
Always has such tasteful additions to every song, and she always holds down the rhythm so hard.
She's KILLING this

Absolutely killer bass work on this. Sooooo very excellent.
Bridget is seriously underrated.
Seriously, made me wanna learn how to play it

They can cover about anything and add a creative touch, yet respectful of the original. Just freaking wonderful this is!
The bassist swings with real lyricism.
This song is perfect for her voice
3:16 to 3:25 is just magic, and the dude on keyboards knew it
THE perfect voice to cover Carole King.
Should have 1 billion views

What a great observation
Rachael hit every. single. note. with strength! Those harmonies were so great. That version hit every crevasse of my soul!

Rachel is excellent at this song. I grew up with Carole Kings music😊
Hope CAROLE hears this version~~!!
Three of the greatest musicians individually that I can think of. Together? Forget it.
Carol was a sweet lady, I met her years ago and still remember her laugh..She would have like this.....
She's not dead

Lake Street Drive is AWESOME!!!
DAMN so soulful and rich. I feel like that voice just threw its arms around me and made my whole day
I can listen to this on repeat...repeat...repeat...

Best cover ever
Perfect
Tapestry is such a great album
My favorite bass player currently. In particular her intonation is superb, way up there on the fingerboard.
One of my favorites songs, on one of my favorite albums, and now one of my favorite performances of that song. What a wonderful cover.

Gave me chills all the way. Surely one of the best covers . Carole King will be enjoying listening and chilling with this deep soul rooted band
This is such an iconic classic, in Carole's unique voice, who would think to cover it? Voila. Of course. La Unica.
I wish I could write a song that good!! So sweet.
We all do...(sigh)

Fantastic cover of a classic! Great bass work and vocals!
Wish there was a bigger "like" button. Nailed it!!
This band is soooo good. Can't wait to see them live again
Yes. They're first on my list.
Perfect.
Akie Bermiss is actually just the cutest
Particularly at the end, when his expression reflects ... how he thinks that take went.
Excellent rendition of this classic.
Awesome! Covering a song from Carole King. One of my favorite singer/songwriters and smashing it! Thank you for making my month. 😉
