Another great video. We are usually one step or behind each other. I did my driveshaft not looking ago. Just did the alternator, radiator and valve cover gaskets this weekend
@@Awesomoto wasn't too bad. On the driver side the vacuum hose that runs from the PCV broke instantly, get one of those, it's cheap. I did the PCV valve at the same time. The spark plug seals can be a bear to get in and can tear easy, get a few extra just in case
LMAO!! 😂 You know that should have been a statement in the summary section, but I think my exhaustion in the garage got the best of me and I forgot to mention the key point. Ultimately, yes it did get rid of the oscillations and it drives smooth as butter with the new driveshaft.
Great video, considering I'll be installing my new driveshafts tomorrow, so it's great seeing a preview. I'm wondering what would be the downside if you only made one mark with the paint pen, instead of three? As a matter of fact, what would be the downside of no marks, considering the universal joints are already installed on the driveshaft. Of course if you pull the driveshaft apart, it should be in the same position on the spline as when you took it apart, when you put it back together.
Honestly, in hindsight it probably doesnt matter as they are balanced and rotationally should not have any difference in the degree that its positioned as the entire shaft spins. Hopefully your install went well and you are happy with the smoothness of the new driveshaft.
@@Awesomoto I made two attempts to get the bolts out and finally gave up and let a local repair facility do the installation. My impact wrench wasn't strong enough to free up the nuts, and I couldn't get enough leverage to do it manually. It did motivate me to get a kick ass Dewalt impact wrench, should I need it in the future. In hindsight, I should have saved the installation fee and bought the wrench with that money. Oh well, the car drives great and I'll keep up on the greasing of the zerk fittings. These driveshafts will outlast me!
@ Hey, no shame in that. I’m shocked my garbage Ryobi impact was able to do the trick. Glad to hear you got it replaced and yes keep an eye on those zerks!
Hey Jason, great question lol. I have thought about doing a remote controlled exhaust cutout so I have control of being loud on the trail and quiet on highway driving.
Mine is an 08 GX. Do You have any fluid recommendations for the transfer case and differential fluids? Or is it best to just stick to the OEM fluids? Thanks.

Thanks JW! I’m about to do the valve cover too! 😂

Wish you had commented on those oscillations you were feeling and if they went away. 😀

Got a random question... Have you thought about getting a straight pipe for your GX?

Perfect timing for your question! In vlog 78 I cover the fluids for the transfer case and differential.
@@Awesomoto thank you. I'll check that one out.
