Never have anyone lease on to your authority, it never ends well.

It's tough enough as a single owner operator. There is no way on God's green earth I would have driver leased on to my company.

    I'm non cdl...
    I would do power only...
It's hard to find good drivers that are legit...
I won't risk my reputation over some shady crap like that...

Falling back on just you and your truck(s) and trailer(s) is only an option if your insurance doesn't hit the roof like as what happened with Tow Piglet. I'm too old to close my business and try something else if it were to happen to me so therefore my answer is always a NO when people ask me about hiring on. I think your best option is to let them do power only for you with their own authority - and don't provide the non-owned trailer" insurance either. This way you are taking some risk with letting them service your customers, but not with your SAFER or insurance. Maybe after X amount of safe and compliant miles they can lease on or hire on with you. And I get it, you are young enough to prosper well by growing your business so you get to experience those irreplaceable family moments and build a future for your kids in the process. And by now you have signed countless broker - carrier agreements that spell out in black and white about not charging the customers and legal compliance. Step up your contract game with penalties for non compliance. Many of the power only loads I haul for JB Hunt include such "fines" that will be deducted from my pay for things like not bringing or taking out an empty trailer, parking alongside road near the shipper/receiver, being late... Obviously pet peeves with shippers and receivers.
