I love this set!!! The ship is really well built and it has an awesome look to it. My favorite ships in star wars were and always will be the TIE Fighters, and for the sake of that my favorite minifig is also the Special Forces TIE Pilot! But all the minifigs are great, and when I will have the opportunity to buy it, I will! Nice review Jang, and TIE Fighters rule!

Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter is just the rebellious teenage phase of the TIE Interceptor.
I see the interceptor in the wings but the body has the expanded flat shape of Darth Vader's TIE Advanced. I get it but I don't like it at all. Maybe something like the body from Vader's TIE fitted with properly proportioned Interceptor wings would look good.
The scene in the last jedi with this ship was so good

Back here after the ship appeared on the new trailer! I just absolutely adore this ship, it's so slick and detailed. For some reason it just feels much more menacing and bigger in person. Even though I have the Saturn V which is over twice the size of this, the Tie Silencer just somehow looks more impressive
It's actually a First Order Tie Interceptor. Not this ship. What do you think about the new Disney Wars 3 trailer?

It's so fun to see Lego play it safe (which is understandable) given the many vehicles for the first wave of Star Wars sets prior to the movie's release. Then we see a secondary wave after the set's release which take place on more of a scene or ground-base (ex, battle at takodana). Curious to see what will come next..
I feel okay with this set, I don't particularly love this set nor many of the other ship-releases but I like it. I think I'm still leaning on the buildable BB-8..

The Rolls Royce of TIE fighters
Hey, to cover up the exposed blue Technic pins, add two more of those pins either side, in the available holes, and cover it with a 1 x 3 plate in black.
Fantastic lego set. Far better than it looks on the box and also a good time now to buy it...Its getting retired and is frequently being sold at a knockdown price. The thing about Force Awakens/ Last Jedi/ Rogue One/ Solo sets is that while the sets are not as iconic as the original series or the prequels the build quality of them is massively superb. You can really see that with the remakes of the Rebel A-wing and Y-wing. I am so looking forward to getting my new Rebel X-wing set in a few days time
Thanks, jangbricks. I was originally resentful about this set, but your review and the more I see the set, I like it more. Now the Last Jedi line looks somewhat good, as I like this set, the smallest one, the bomber and the BB - 8 set.

Like Jang, its really hard for me to stay objective about this. I really like the design of the older TIE Interceptors and Defenders, and also thaught about getting one of those in Lego form. Now that I see this, I really get some hype for the upcoming movie. It takes so much inspiration from the original Trilogy and adds Kylo Rens theme to it, as the windscreen really resembles the one his Command Shuttle had (well, sadly not in Lego form). The included Kylo Ren fig also looks very good in my opinion and the inclusion of Darth Ball makes this set perfect for me. In conclusion, this is defenitly my favourite set of this wave.
How cool would it be if Kylo's ship purposely didn't have any monitors because he uses the force for target acquisition, spacial awareness, and even ship diagnostics?
That's just what I thought looking at the barren cockpit...
All jedi/sith ships still have basic systems (sometimes with Astromechs) to handle things. Even if theoretically they could manage everything, some things are still better left to the droids/systems to monitor (like diagnostics or communcation, or navigating) while they focused on the more important things, such as piloting

I really can't thank you enough for all this Star Wars! These are some of my favorite sets, and same this is hitting me in the nostalgia zone as I did see return of the Jedi in the theater, this also seems a little too much for me.

Awesome Krennic Poe is going up against the grandson of Anakin Skywalker, best pilot in the Republic. I think it would be cool but if that's in film I would believe Kylo can shoot down Poe.
The boxart really surprised me on this one, with an asteroid field, a planet(I think a specific one) and a KABOOM in the background

When you said Seperating Personal feelings from reviews, and when you said nostalgia from return of the jedi, I thought you were gonna say you hated this model Lol!
I think he kinda does because it feels like a very warped cross between an Interceptor and an Advanced. I kinda get the design but it feels like it would look incredibly out of place in a hanger full of TIEs.

I love this thing, but I switched out the black hilt for a gun metal grey. My U-Wing came with two.

Could they not just put a tiny drop of paint on the lightsaber blade so it looks like it actually has three exit points for the blades? Would that be so hard?

Looks great, but very poor interior spacing, shouhd have a space to store weapons and tools.

This set, and _maybe_ a Praetorian Guard, is all I'm interested in buying.
I think this set needed just one or two more action features...just like a personal vehicle inside for terrestrian movement or special missiles or a integrated small module to scape in case of impact...that would have been a great final touch for this set. Very beautiful though.

This is one of my favourite sets
Just built this one and it's absolutely huge! I really wasn't expecting this, it's literally bigger than the Clone Turbo Tank(that has over 1000 pieces) and was my biggest SW set. I bought the First Order Star Destroyer(haven't built it yet) and I thought only that one would be able to rival the turbo tank but apparently that one's even bigger!
The clone turbo tank has 933 pieces. Not over 1000

I just built the set and I realized the cockpit windshield looks nothing like it did in the movie. I wonder if this set was designed after an old concept model. Still a great toy tho!
Beagle.in.red The majority of sets based on designs that are new for movies like Star Wars are usually based on early concept art. There are many examples where the sets released before the movie like this were not accurate to the in film model. Such as kylo rens command shuttle, the first order walker. You can always expect that at least one set in the first wave of sets released on a new movie with new model designs can end up being inaccurate.

My only struggle with this set was the weird ridge on the front of the cockpit that isn’t really characteristic of the in movie vehicle. However, the mini digs and the rest of the set were pretty good. The blaster fire was also green not red.
It’s just such a good looking ship. But when I looked at the price tag...

The type of saber Kilo uses has the crystal purposely broken/ damaged to have the side saved parts. This explains the why the saber is not sleek like the others, but rigged and electric looking. If you want more information there are videos explaining it called "Star Wars to 10 unique light sabers" his saber is at 3:27

Someone on Reddit made an alt-build of the UCS TIE into an interceptor. I used his alt build to make a Royal interceptor and I can confirm that his wing design is A+. I think his username was /u/itallguy.

Bought this for 9k in our currency (philippine peso) which is about 180 USD (yeah they sell Legos here way overpriced) but I must say, it’s worth every penny.

I was just about to write a comment on how this set is not that good, but once I saw you start to swish it, I instantly fell in love with it. This is a much better set then the original first order tie fighter

I could tell you hate the angry clone face lol, I do too it gets kinda annoying now since clones were decommission after the war and were replaced by humans.
Martin Almanza yeah and we even see that Finn is a stormtrooper! He’s not a clone, so the movies are now explicitly telling us that real people are used as stormtroopers, and yet LEGO still uses the angry clone face. I honestly wish they would use the heads they used to where it looked like a person wearing a black balaclava. That way the troops would still have a face, but from the sides around the helmet it would still look good.
Finally a new SW wave set that I love! I don't really like any other new SW set that you reviewed.
