“Im a proud American” i love it🤘🏽 we need more people out there like that. Realize what opportunities we have actually being able to live in the U.S.A
I am a proud US citizen as well, BUT what I am not proud of is the well accepted history of lies associated with the wars our military have been lied into fighting.
Just because you love the US and the military doesn't mean you have to blindly accept the narrative associated with it and our history, a great deal of it goes further than what you were taught or are told in the media, don't trust me on this, look into it.
A great place to start would be with Dwight D. Eisenhower's final speech to the US and General Smedley Butler's speech and book, War is a Racket.
Before anyone says anything, my primary motivation is the military, we shouldn't let them be used like they are and everyone needs to see it!
I guess you two are anti BLM too huh
TheGoonies410 i support everyone being equal but the riots an looting an having people in the streets needs to stop. The Mask stuff needs to stop thats just a tool by the left to see how well citizens would react to socialism
So I guess you're just going to overlook the deeds of your ancestors in America wow 🧐👀🤐
Ijah Maccabees first, I’m speaking as an American of Asian descent. I’ve never bought into the view that someone should be held accountable for the deeds of their ancestors. If a white American’s ancestors owned slaves, does that make that person guilty of the same crime their ancestors committed over a century ago? What about the whites whose ancestors fought on the side of the Union?
There’s plenty of racial injustice that needs to be removed from society in the present day without dragging in the misdeeds of people long dead. We remember the past so that history doesn’t repeat itself but work on the present to secure a better future for everyone in our country, regardless of race, creed, or sex. Hope I don’t offend, just my two cents.
The American dream will never die and you are certainly living it
Shut up 🤐
SimManiac that’s what I thought
The American dream is being held at gunpoint as we speak
Highstranger951 just be quiet no one cares

This man is such a wholesome guy I just got done watching the video about how he will give a full day with him if you help out kids and their families by donating and to me that is such a cool idea. Not only is he helping out kids that are sick and their families but he is giving two people a chance to spend a full day with him. He is helping out people, not earning any money, and he is paying for a flight and stuff so he can help people out. Not many people would do that. Much love Robert✊🏻❤️✊🏻❤️.
Land of the free because of the brave. Eight years Navy myself.
Becoming less free every day. Especially in the state he’s in. Virginia is attacking the 2nd amendment. Thank you for your service 🇺🇸

I've destroyed myself, thrown away a fortune and somehow found my way back from sorrow and synthetic happiness, I have to tell you that your story and life and adventures have lead to very positive aspects in my life. Thank you and blue Gabe for your awesome videos and constant messages of positivity. You guys rock.
Hope you are still doing well. Happy holidays.

Great Video! Can’t wait to see the next collab between you, Gabe, and Kelly that he keeps teasing.
In Trinidad we call those cutlass fish, they're the best for frying ❤
nice
When I used to live in Trinidad I called em ribbon fish, we used em for big tarpon we would fish at and catch a lot of them
@@alertsparkz5423 that's cool, I didn't know they were good for tarpon bait I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for the tip
I'm addicted to your show!!!!!! i love the way you love your family and the way you praise GOD.
Keep the videos coming. Asheee
This is just what I need in these days, although lots of things are going on in our country you point out all the good things and that's what we need to do is listen and watch positive people it's too easy to get discouraged so thank you for your Channel and your recipes may God bless you and your family.
14:00 Rob, Glad you got a chance to see some of the Naval ships and Aircraft out of Norfolk/VA Beach. You appreciate them and their service... but they definitely appreciate the support from proud Americans like you!
have a son in the navy, he was stationed at norfolk for his first 4 years. Made many a trip to virginia beach/ norfolk over that stretch. Its a very nice area with very nice people. My son is now in san diego and still in the navy, he loves it
His fishing equipment is fantastic, CONGRATULATIONS his fishing was incredible, it reminds me a lot where I fish here.👍🎣😉
Dude I'm not sure what I like better...catching the fish or your amazing off the cuff cooking idea's! Oh who am I kidding, there's nothing like the amazing thrill of seeing what you bring in! That was an amazing fish!! Then to see the sub and destroyer...priceless! I lived in that area in 1979...Little Creek in the beginning...wow...that place was like going back to the sixties on a crazy acid trip! Only I was the sober one. I lived in a household of Navy Seamen. Rent was cooking, cleaning and haircuts! Then I got a real job and moved to VB....sooo beautiful! At the end I lived right on the edge of Little Creek and Chesapeake Bay in a 1926 old funeral home made into a duplex. Right on the beach where a permanent carnival used to be. Got to board the ships and go out to sea on family day...amazing. So much to tell and quite a testimony... one of so many in my life. Unfortunately it seemed God's direction was for me to go home. I did. Which is crazy because I am a landlocked beach bunny and I live in Farmington, NM. NW corner of The Four Corners. We're at 5600 feet and surrounded by the Rockies on all sides. I miss the ocean so much. Grew up as a little tyke in Daytona. No access to fresh fish other than trout of all types, bass, catfish (the best I must say as our waters are very cold and the flesh is far more tasty and firm!) Pike and our salmon is unique blend of Kokanee and King. Found nowhere else. Amazing! Also crappie which is soooo yummy but it takes a couple hundred to feast on as their fillets are so tiny. Tons of work but so worth it! God bless you and yours and praise God for all your blessings....
Hi, I am a Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 employed in Qatar. Even though I am unfortunate to catch fresh fish like you, I really enjoy by cooking and dining some of your simple and tasty dishes with the fish I buy from the market. 🙏 Ayubowan (long life) to you.
It was soooooo much filming these! Thank you Robert and crew! Deermeatfordinner is the best!
I watched your video today and loved it. I clicked like and subscribe not because of the content but because you showed honor in your country and I love patriotism. Thank you.
We don't call it Virginia for nothing, I love it here, always something to do Corona or not. Thank you so much! God bless you and your family! Ribbons are delicious.
So a few years ago, some AMAZING Vietnamese families taught me about ribbon fish. I was on the apache pier in Myrtle Beach, and they do an annual trip for these fish. It is a HUGE delicacy in their culture. They were pulling them in hand over fist! Introduced me to vodka beer in a can, the BEST instant noodles EVER! Such a great group of people! Spent two nights fishing with them! So great!
Hey Rob...my Dad and I love your show. And man how we wish we could go on a fishing trip with you. We appreciate how you are A man of faith and always thank God...because we do as well. It would be a moment of a lifetime for my Dad to get to meet and fish with you. Eat some of that delicious food and spend some time with a wholesome person such as yourself. God bless you and many wishes for the future.
Spent many years serving in subs. Always proud to support true Americans. Outstanding idea with the ribbons.
I love how you sounded like a little kid asking if you could go crabbing
Nice video Rob like always your channel is the best keep up with the great job...
Brilliant shout out to the military at the start there rob, in a time of such uncertainty it's more important than ever our great countries (UK and US) remind the world of our powers!
Lived in va beach for 6 years in the lynnhaven area when I was a kid moved back up north when I was about 12 beautiful spot still have some family down there always love to visit when I can
Sounds like my life. Moved from there in 1979.....
Those ribbon fishies are crazy lookin! The oceans have millions of different creatures, most we will never ever know about or see.. Captain Jake was a nice addition to you and Paul, be cool to see him again perhaps down there... looks like you lost alot of weight when ya was on the islands..
I thank you for your compliment on the U S NAVY AND YOUR LOVE FOR OUR COUNTRY. I WAS IN NORFOLK VIRGINIA AT ONE TIME. Never got the chance to go fishing though. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Glad you liked VA Beach Rob! Born and raised here and you made us look great!
MERICAAA!!
After watching Rob, blue, DemoRanch, Donut Operator and a few others i have fallen in love with your way of life.
Awesome people and an awesome country!!
on the last episode when jordy jumped into the ocean for the fish was epic best camera man ever!
Glad to know you are a proud American! We need patriotic spirit more than ever! As an Arab immigrant I am BEYOND blessed to be in the greatest country in the history of the world.
I really love your passion for food. I’m also a foodie and can appreciate your culinary creativity. It’s great to see you use what you catch to feed your family and friends. I am looking forward to seeing more videos and culinary creations!
And to think I just made wontons the other night. Looks Delish
Waiting and excited to see what you can do with these now
Robert, those appetizers you made with that beautiful looking ribbon/chrome fish meat looked so delicious😋. They reminded me of some taquitos with seafood, and I love me some Thai chili sauce. Well done Robert👏👏👏. Really enjoyed that one!!!
3:40 this guy knows what he's talking about. this fish is carnivorous so the flesh has incredible sweetness to it. It's one of the most popular fish to eat in South Korea, and the most important contributing fact to that is Korea's chopsticks culture. Koreans mostly cook fish without filleting. They just cook as a whole and pick the flesh with chopsticks. The fish doesn't yield much meat when you try to fillet and its bone structure is just strange. Bones are there on both top and bottom of the fish as well as the vertebrae. This is probably why Americans generally don't eat this fish. They call it "Gal-Chi" in Korea. It's best when char-grilled. Check out this video for a wicked deboning trick. ruclips.net/video/pWZjvnyJSd8/видео.html
addition after fully watching this video : Never seen Ribbon fish filleted that well. Actually never seen Ribbon fish filleted until now, period. What a skill!
Wait, I thought carnivorous fish would taste bitter while herbivorous fish tasted sweeter. I mean, I probably shouldn't take words from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure without a grain of salt, but I've heard that there.
JoJonoMuskets i don't think there's bitter tasting fish, but generally carnivorous fish taste very well. tuna, cod, barracuda, swordfish etc.
Many years ago, I was in the Navy. I was stationed at N.A.S. Pensacola from September, 1978 till I got out of the Navy in December, 1982. I was married then. Often, my wife and I would go fishing at the Lexington Pier. The Lexington was a World war II aircraft carrier. Anyway, we'd go fishing at the pier. Often we'd see ribbon fish that people had caught and just thrown on the ground. People said they were a trash fish and weren't good for eating. Then one day, our neighbor who lived in the apartment above us, invited us up for supper. He served ribbon fish. It was some of the best fish I have ever eaten and I love fish. I mean this fish was delicious. He told us if we ever caught any, bring it to him if we didn't want it. I never caught any but if I ever had, I would have kept it for myself. That fish is delicious. I don't know why people would throw them away. They are delicious. But it is a scary looking fish. It's got a head like a barracuda. I bet it could hurt you if it bit you. But it's good eating.
To live in America and be a citizen are the greatest earthly priviledges a person could enjoy and be honored with. Great to know more people feel the same.
Rob, I have been watching you for while and I was a chef by trade for 32 years...Man you are the Chef of Chef's. I Love your Channel. You have Class. :)
One of the first videos I’ve seen without seasoning on the cook! Still looks amazing!
It’s crazy how much this show has become apart of my life I just can’t wait until I finally catch a fish 😩
Looks like a cuda
Thanks for including us in your video brother! Believe it or not, a lot of us Sailors actually fish off the fantail of those warships when we get a break in the action of carrying out normal duties or standing watch. A lot of Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo have been caught off the flight decks and sterns of those ships and shared amongst crews! Thank you for continuously inspiring us, be it showcasing our backyard or giving us a way to decompress by watching your videos when we get home from long days onboard... thank you!
Spending almost 4 years on a tender (AD29) and 2 Destroyers, out in the west Pacific, in 1968 - 1971, I spent alot of my free tiime fishing off the fantails of my ships. I'd give my catch to the Philipino cooks and they would cook it up for us with a side of Gili Gili rice. Ah! The good ol' days, over a half century ago.
Made your recipe and it is delicious! My first ribbon fish to catch, clean and cook.
Seabass, flounder and... whatever else 🤣🤣 love this channel
Chromed like a bumper on a 1965 Pontiac GTO.. Yummmy ribbon fish finger food..!
You guys are the captains of the sea
Man rob I want you to come catch cats with us here your enthusiasm is so great
Marvellous video old chap. Very interesting seeing you encounter new ideas and develop them. Where is Alligator Mum? How are your ladies? Always enjoy you showing a happy family. Welcome back.
We go hard and I'm glad you were able to show that
Sir, that looks so good, thanks for sharing. God bless your crew and families. 🙏🏻☮️
I used to catch these back in the middle and late 70's for bait when I was a kid. Never ate them though.
Dearmeat and BlueGabe are really quite impressive in the kitchen, they got me cooking more creative lately
Now that's living it up nothing better than deep sea fishing
That ribbon fish is an Asian delicacy. GREAT sashimi. In the fall between sept-dec you can catch those at night in orlando right near cape c. I used to go there and you would see a ton of asians fishing with GLOWSTICKS as bobbers and catching 100-200 given the right conditions.
the size Robert caught is easily a $40 fish in South Korea.
Great video! Ribbon fish look wild! I am from VA and am staying about 34 miles south of VA Beach in Corolla, NC. I am catching small red drum, sheephead, and whiting in the surf:) Love when you cook something that just came to you......I do that too! Looking forward to more VA Beach videos!!

You've brought back so many good memories of when I went fishing on the Chesapeake Bay almost 40 years ago. A friend of mine caught a 6 1/2 # Tautog! I caught Blues, Spots, Croaker's, and different kinds of bass. I too, am a proud American! 🇺🇸🙌
Stevenowski Brought back old fishing memories for me too, 40 years ago when I lived in Norfolk and Southern Md.

Good cooker, very good fisher and the meal looks so delicious😋
I really enjoyed the clip of hairtail fishing with great silver color. His teeth look really scary. It was a very pleasant viewing. I caught the rest of the meat well. Like 👍
Chrome colored! What a crazy looking fish.
great skills Ropate , yummy!, the addition of everglades seasoning would boost the taste with alot of flavours.
Great one.!! Great Strike and Nice Fishing sharing.!! Powerful & Support..!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Been watching your vids for about 2 years
Just caught a few of these outside of OC MD. We weren't even targeting them. We were going for king and spanish mackerel, false albacore and bluefish but the water temperature was too low the week we were down and they were out way too far for the time we had booked. Just happened to hook onto these which surprised our captain. Rolled them up and beer battered them. They were delicious
Hi Rob! Alot of Filipinos are a huge fan of your YT chanel and your lovely Family, hope you could visit us here someday in the Philippines! take care & godbless!
I was in the Mariana islands this summer my goal was to visit the Philippines!!!
@@deermeatfordinner yeah i've watched all your videos when you were there☺️ you must have to visit General santos City. It's a great place in the PH to catch Tuna and many more ☺️
Hi All,
that ribbon fish is probably the best bait for big king mackerels, slow trolled or on the drift, we have awesome success here in SA with them. The trick is getting them to swim properly on the troll.
Awesome Rob. Thanks for making me hungry..lol great video.
Great video Robert, glad to see Jordyn tasting your roll ups. That was a great way to deep fry the roll ups. Love you channel, great seeing Paul, & Jordyn, ( still wanting dry gar fish skin for primitive project.) Love you guy’s be safe, stay healthy, God Bless everyone.
Hey Rob. For that amount (or a bit more) of sweet chili sauce, add a knob of ginger (a bit smaller than your thumb) that been VERY finely minced, and about 2-3 tsp of rice wine vinegar. Let it sit for a couple of hours before serving as a dipping sauce. It's insane, bro. Amazing flavor! 😊
Mr. Rob is the legend of CATCH CLEAN COOK
My father was retired military and he loved fishing on the base in Virginia Beach.
My father was on submarines in the pacific and patrolled around Saipan, Guam, Hawaii, Midway, and the Marianas where you and your beautiful family just were there! Amazing to see the F-18’s flying in and out of NAS Oceana and I’m sure seeing that Massive Sub and Destroyer were very cool also!!! I really want to meet you someday love your videos and content have learned a lot from you since living in Kansas we are land locked and don’t get to the Gulf or Ocean very much..........
In 1988 when I first moved to the Tidewater area in SE Virginia, I went with my in-laws to a brunch at the Chamberlin Hotel on Ft. Monroe where my Father-in-Law was stationed. As we were eating a submarine came by and he said this is a rare occurrence. Since then I've seen many as I was fishing off Virginia Beach, including seeing one surface about 1/4 mile from our boat. Labor Day I was at Ft. Monroe beach and the amphibious carrier, the USS Wasp sailed by. Got great video with the grandkids in the surf and the Wasp in the background. I love this nation, the military those who serve so we can sleep at night. On another note, this is the first time I've seen a catch, clean and cook with ribbonfish. When the charters catch them, they are usually given to the boat for bait.
Thank you for the shout out to my neck of the woods. Virginia Beach and the whole area has so many wonderful things to do.
that's awesom, my old stomping grounds when i was in the navy lived right there
Ribbonfish is a popular dish in Vietnamese culture. We love to eat the fish and a few years ago when the oil spill happened in the gulf, they were schooling like crazy in our coastal Florida Atlantic waters. Since then you barely will find any except being imported to Restaurant Depot.
Nice video Rob!
In Chinese supermarkets you can find these in abundance
Those ribbon fish are awesome baits for kingfish we catch them up here in Jax FL and use the whole thing for bait the bigger fish love them great vlog Rob n crew
Now that you're back home, I'm waiting with baited breath to see you and Guga get together and do a couple of videos. Please call him and get that going!
Thanks for checking out my home . I'd love to catch you some time
Well that is a new fish to me....wow, how interesting... a little package of love ❤️
