- Installation and review of Wilwood TX6R brakes in a 2022 RAM 1500 TRX.
Wilwood’s Tactical Extreme TX6R Big Brake kits are ultimate in braking performance for Truck, SUV and Armored Vehicles. Using TX6R radial mount six-piston calipers and massive 16.00” GT-60 straight-vane Spec-37 alloy rotors, these kits deliver consistent stopping power and extreme duty durability under sustained high heat with this ready-to-bolt-on kit. The calipers are volume matched for compatibility with the original equipment power brake system output. Kits include radial mount caliper brackets and all the necessary hardware to complete the installation. Braided stainless steel flex lines will need to be purchased for some applications. A minium 20" wheel diameter is required to clear the calipers.

Those black calipers look great behind those wheels! I kinda wish Ram would have offered some painted calipers from the factory! Huge performance truck with meh looking brakes!
Great video! I cannot wait for my TRX to arrive later this year. What size rims and tires do you need to get the Wilwood brakes? Do they come in any other color? Finally Wilwood brakes!
Check the link in the description, says 20" minimum. My truck comes in this week and I want bigger brakes but not willing to go up to a 20 personally. Guess I'll deal with the stockers.
Gonna be upgrading myb19 F350 with those brakes

There are no brakes for the rears yet because of the electronic parking brake. Wilwood is working on it.

Stock TRX brakes suck! Big miss on Ram, not that a 100k truck doesnt have enough profit margin to have some decent stopping power of a 6000lb truck with 700hp.
I warped my rotors in first 15k miles, upgraded slightly with ebc pads as only options available at the time were the roterra’$$$.

Hey man I need help I just put new routers and pads on my ram trx and the steering wheel shakes when I apply brakes around 75mph
Man I want these for my TRX. Where do you usually go to take your TRX off road in the desert? I’m right in the San Dimas area. Where would you recommend I can take the truck and really feel its capabilities off road?
I want these for my 2020 Ram 1500 and since I pull a trailer I'm curious how much more they would benefit me.
HUGE benefit. I had the same set of TX6R brakes on my 10,000 dually and they trimmed 60--0 stopping distance by 11 feet. That may not sound like much but that's half the length of truck.
The question here is not about the looks but performance. How do they perform? Will they be better than the original for a truck with a trailer? That is the question.

Well... I have Wildwood on my 1991 F150, and a 1970 Charger and I'm not feeling the difference. The reason for my question. On the other hand, I've done other conversions, with OEM adaptation to other cars I have, my 56 & 57 Chegy and found better results and that's no laughing matter. There's no bigger disappointment than paying big dollars for a system like that, and not achieve what you're looking for... Better breaking.
Let me go even further... I swapped the brakes on my 2014 Jetta for the GTI, it has bigger brakes and the performance on that swap is better than the other two that have Wildwood. Those were picked up from the Junkyard. Again, I'm not a regular Joe asking a question, but somebody with experience on this matter.
@Jay Tilles I have the same kit on mine and brakes shake like crazy, tried new rotors/hats and same thing - any issues you've experienced with this kit yet?

16” rotors are still pretty small for that truck. Not a bad price tho.
They are the largest you can stuff within 20" wheels. Any larger rotors and you won't have room for the calipers.
I don't even want to know the priceeeeeee brakes but is definitely stopping now...
