As someone who worked in a deli for 4 years and would have to cut hundreds of pounds of onions a week, the best way to cut an onion is with the sharpest knife possible. It creates the least damage to the onion and prevents spraying the onions enzymes into the air. Plus ski goggles. Those work great.
i have a pair of swim goggles in my kitchen utensil drawer that draws a lot of questioning looks from anyone rummaging for a spoon. "those are my onion goggles" I'll sometimes cut and process 8-10 onions at one time, and it's a necessity!
You know Link doing the underwater cutting was actually the most dangerous thing he did.. and the crew just let it happen even when Link said multiple times that it was unsafe... Lmao .. and it was a round bowl not even a rectangle with a flat bottom!!! This could've been it!
It IS it dammit. I have super bad onion sensitivity and I'll cut mine in the sink often. Rhett be like "You'd need an aquarium in the kitchen" and im like ITS CALLED A SINK YALL.
I want to see Josh and the Mythical Kitcheneers perform this experiment, in a more scientific way. There needs to be more time/space between onions to avoid cross contamination of methods. I am very interested in more accurate results of this
Agreed. From my own experiments, chop the onion in half and leave in water for 15-30mins before cutting, alternatively leave half an onion or a whole onion chopped into two in the fridge overnight. This is how I avoid the onion juices
I personally like Ramsay's way of leaving the ends on and cutting in half, then slicing sideways about halfway through and finish chopping vertically, but leaving the ends to the side. Not wasteful and quick and efficient.
As someone who cuts onions all day the bread method works 100%. I'm not sure if they test it here but it definitely works. Look it up if you're interested
As someone who is also "a little accident prone", I know the whole "Link can't be around knives" thing isn't just a bit. I'd love to have a mythical crew to sorta babysit me, I seriously don't know how I still have all my fingers 🤣😅
yeah link's right about moving them. they can be a foot or two away and still make me cry. the chemical floats through the air quite a ways so rhett's getting the effect from the other ones still. so the cold test does work, at least for me it did
Rhett coming in with facts about adulthood around the 14:39 mark! He essentially said "I don't care about what YT thinks", which is fantastic. Here, take my help with the algorithm!
I'm so sensitive to onion mist that my eyes literally started to sting and water the moment Rhett cut into the first onion. In other news, memories harbor great power.
Other than unsafe knife wielding. Link obvi hasn't cut an onion in his life. Cuts it down the middle, looks around confused. Leaves the peal on and then continues julienning with the peal on.
First of all, who thought it would be a good idea to have an entire episode that involved Link needing to use a knife! Secondly, I cut my onions on a cutting board with my sink faucet running over them and it works really well
I'd rather let Mr. Magoo drive my grandmother to dialysis than allow Link to use a knife around me. Not only is he a spazz, but he talks with his hands a lot and often forgets he's holding a lethal weapon.
i think their friendship is super wholesome and adorable. the jokes and goofiness shared between them was just so nice to see :) also that whole gotteem thing was hilarious. great episode.
Rhett reprimanding the comments is just like me reprimanding my kid and half way through realizing it wasn’t that bad in the first place but I’m already this far.
Y'all should look into onion cutting goggles! Someone in my family got them as like a gag gift years ago and we still have them in our kitchen because they work so well!
"Let's see which method works the best" as they proceed to chop onions one right after another in a growing puddle of onion juice. I don't know about anyone else, but putting your onions in the fridge works ok for me. Now if someone can point me to the Never Let Link Ever Ever Ever Have A Knife Again petition I'll go sign it.......
the paper Towel works if you drape it over the chopped onions to keep more from getting you. also if you leave the root intact while u chop it helps some but it can make your preferred method of chopping a bit harder if you go from a certain side.
I wasnt going to comment but I am commenting now to increase the engagement with this video meaning it is more likely for good mythical more, a show I enjoy, to exist going into the future. GOTEM
My first head chef told me that by soaking the onion in warm water before you cut it, helps to loosen the skin and also stops the reaction that causes tears.
I don’t think Link’s perfectly timed “Got ‘em” at the end will get the respect it deserves. Here’s to you Link.
He really got 'em.
It made me smile
It was a brilliant moment!
Proves Link's comic timing.
Rhett's entire rant about onion comments was HILARIOUSSSSS 😂😂😂
Someone needs to put together a montage of Link's mishaps with knives.
You Tube disallows that much bloody gore.
there are several... and theyre hilarious and frightening
they have haha
The one by youresoloud is fantastic!
Do people actually complain about them taking knives away from Link. Anyone who tries to advocate for Links knife usage is an absolute Moran.
The key is not to form an emotional bond with the onion first.
Same as my childrearing policy.

I have designated onion ski goggles! I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Team Onion Goggles all the way! It's really painful for me to get onion fumes in my eyes so those swim goggles are a lifesaver!
Rhett’s snark about comments was priceless.
These onions were sacrificed for the greater good of humanity.
goteem

I love how it ended with Link saying 'got him' after Rhett realized he burnt his fingers on the candle.
this episode should’ve been called “link giving the audience and crew anxiety for 18 minutes”
Agreed. I was in panic mode the whole time. 😂
Rhett: “You see, I win.” *looks down at rough chopped onion next to solitary unscented candle* “This is so romantic.”
You know Link doing the underwater cutting was actually the most dangerous thing he did.. and the crew just let it happen even when Link said multiple times that it was unsafe... Lmao .. and it was a round bowl not even a rectangle with a flat bottom!!! This could've been it!
The comment I was looking for!

-I can’t believe Rhett could be so wasteful with onions-
Got Him.
The onions are martyrs for science, man. Loved Rhett’s explanation
Link’s knife skills are a 10/10 on the Pucker Factor Scale.
it'll make ya' pUCK'eR
Link should never be allowed to wield a knife, every few seconds he does something scary, most of all he's USING a knife BLIND
not to mention the whole underwater thing....
being blind should help.
The whole time I kept saying he’s gonna cut himself I’m more shook he didn’t 🙈
They gave him the larger knife too....
Every aspect of him holding and using the knife looks unnatural and wrong.
I love that they give each of them a knife and Rhett just takes Link’s knife away…🤣🤣🤣
When Rhett takes the knife away from Link at the beginning is total dad moves 😂
Man, the title should have been "Link Uses a Knife"
That would have ABSOLUTELY gotten the clicks. What an event this is
There should be a playlist for all of Link's knife-using.
"Link Uses a Knife WITHOUT HIS GLASSES" fixed it for you 😂
got em
As someone who cuts onions all day the bread method works 100%. I'm not sure if they test it here but it definitely works. Look it up if you're interested
THANK YOU RHETT for scraping the board with the back of the knife.
My eyeballs are getting stressed just watching Link putting his face that close to the onions.
I feel like Link thinks the knife thing is a bit but the whole crew knows the truth lol
Link hams the bit up, until he's cutting it underwater and it really slips and nearly cuts him 😂
As someone who is also "a little accident prone", I know the whole "Link can't be around knives" thing isn't just a bit. I'd love to have a mythical crew to sorta babysit me, I seriously don't know how I still have all my fingers 🤣😅
this reminds me of the old gmm ep they tried to make themselves cry and boy link's screams on that one were the funniest thing i ever heard
"Just call him 'boy'."
*KRATOS INTENSIFIES*
I’ve always thought link shouldn’t handle knives or anything mildly sharp for that matter. I wouldn’t trust the man with a spork.
The way Rhett nonchalantly takes Link's knife never gets old lmao 🤣
yeah link's right about moving them. they can be a foot or two away and still make me cry. the chemical floats through the air quite a ways so rhett's getting the effect from the other ones still. so the cold test does work, at least for me it did

Not being able to take criticism is not really a sign of maturity

He just doesnt care, theres a difference.
@@nuck- Exactly. Not being able to take criticism means you get upset/angry when you're criticized.

Got'em..!!
I was going to say that Link's knife handling was actually pretty mild this time...
Oh how wrong i was...
Loved links mood this mythical more/morning!! These guys make the start of my day go so well!
Discovered GMM right before I got pregnant with my youngest…heard Rhett talk about his son Shepherd and now I have a Shepherd. ❤️
I'm so sensitive to onion mist that my eyes literally started to sting and water the moment Rhett cut into the first onion. In other news, memories harbor great power.
But with great power, comes great responsibility.
Same. I need chemical goggles just so I can see when cutting onions. Just a few cuts and I cant see anymore.
Other than unsafe knife wielding. Link obvi hasn't cut an onion in his life. Cuts it down the middle, looks around confused. Leaves the peal on and then continues julienning with the peal on.
They actually have done a video about chopping onions lol
They both gave up peeling the onion. Which for their purposes was fine.
The “got em” is my favorite thing Rhett does.
The way link grabbed the knife from Rhett 😂 3:34
If you wear contacts you’re basically immune to onions lol.
It’s a great perk!
First of all, who thought it would be a good idea to have an entire episode that involved Link needing to use a knife! Secondly, I cut my onions on a cutting board with my sink faucet running over them and it works really well
I'm wondering why Rhett or any of them let Link do the under water cutting. That one had to be the most dangerous one!😹😹😹
Best advise I’ve gotten for cutting an onion is to take your cutting board, put in on your stove and turn on the fume hood/over oven fan
I'd rather let Mr. Magoo drive my grandmother to dialysis than allow Link to use a knife around me. Not only is he a spazz, but he talks with his hands a lot and often forgets he's holding a lethal weapon.
I feel like this comment tells a story, and I love that.
This is the comment that seals the deal on the stupidity of humanity (maybe just me) because despite all the evidence, I’d still give him the knife.

Rhett's "Got 'em" and Links camera stares got me rolling rn
Rhett reprimanding the comments is just like me reprimanding my kid and half way through realizing it wasn’t that bad in the first place but I’m already this far.
Rhett's defense against their flagrant onion wasting only motivated me to comment about their wastefulness!
Link still has all his fingers so I'm sure he'll be fine.
For now.....
5:35 as link defends him self he almost cuts his chin🤣🤣🤣

Omg, anxiety through the roof the entire episode!

Link with a knife gives me anxiety 🤣
I don't know why but watching two grown men cutting onions is entertaining.
Also, I agree if possible onion rings > french fries
I would absolutely go to the onion chopping show with Link!
Link has the most interesting thoughts . His What ifs are absurd but What if though.

I worked for bob evans for 5 years. I worked cutting onions in the walk-in fridge. It worked like a charm.
the moving air in the walk-in probably helped quite a bit also. lol
Rhett seems like the cool supportive teacher that is kinda weird at times but be saying the realist shyt ever that stays with you thru life.
Honestly, my heartrate was up the entire episode watching Link using the knife.
Rhett addressing *those* comments was hilarious. 🤣 Got ‘eem!
Not that I don't love Link's hair too but Mon Dieu...Rhett's hair gets more and more magnificent every episode.
Rhett's rant about comments.....made my day!
Link having a knife is absolutely terrifying.
I love how quickly Rhett grabbed that knife away from Link's cutting board

😂 Rhett is bringing all the sass today
I liked Rhett's rant about not wasting onions.

Link cutting an onion under water gives me anxiety
Rhett has hit a wall. Thought it was a few episodes ago, but this was it.
Though I love them both and wish the best
I feel anxious when Link uses knives and it was before I realized it was a whole thing 😂
Rhett's "bit" about the comments. Lol! So good! And so true
Link definitely let his accent take over for a while there. I love when we get hints of it.
Link's knife work is terrifying
I just watched two grown men chop onions for 18 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Link leaning over the onions without this glasses on and with the accent he was doing... he just changes into his dad. It's uncanny.
Link's knife skills are terrifying!!!
I wish Rhett would talk about the fun comments as well!
