    April and May are so dry that not being able to flush the toilet can be a problem. I love the Chapala Area, but drought is a serious problem.

    I am a mexican who lived in Vancouver. I loved it, the landscapes, the nature, the beauty. But it was hard to make friends and the weather was really hard to adapt. No complaints, however I love to be back to Mexico.

    Absolutely right. 5 years ago I was on the coast in Oregon. Beautiful. But I wouldn’t want to live there I visited Cannon Beach too. Too cold. Overcast. Rains too much. And very expensive.
    Thanks

    Watching from Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. I couldn’t agree more, and could add many others. I have been really disappointed with our government here in Canada for many years for many reasons. The lockdowns and mandates were terrible, and our freedom is beginning to disappear. I am less than 5 years from retirement and want to move to lakeside. I believe it is critical to live in a country where you have control over the essentials of life (energy and food). Been watching for a while now and enjoy your videos. Cheers.

    Thank you Ricardo…We spent 3 months in San Juan Cosalá(came home in April) and one month last year. We are renting our house out for a year here in Bend, Oregon and planning on coming down for a year stating in January. We love it for all the reasons that you mentioned. Have traveled all over Mexico for many years and surprisingly really loved Jalisco and Lake Chapala. Hope to buy a house and take our time finding just the right one. We love West Ajijic to Jocotepec. Keep your eyes out for us…thanks for your channel. Watch it all the time!

    I hate to tell you, but the USA has the most expensive health care in the world and we have to wait. Even with insurance getting an appointment is not simple. Money upfront drives Mexican health care.

      With my family doctor it takes 2 to 3 weeks to see him that is if he is not vacationing overseas for 6 weeks at the time without having another doctor to cover him ( and we are very lucky to have a family doctor). MRIs take at least 3 to 6 months. Specialist take up to 1 year, surgeries up to 2 years. That is my family and friends experience in BC🇨🇦

    Will the governments at Lakeside or for Jalisco ever seriously work toward preventing the extreme shortages every April and May? Drought is my fear for the area with climate change and the Lake shrinking.

    • @RetireInLakeChapala
      @RetireInLakeChapala  Год назад

      I doubt it. Sorry to hear you have experienced some water shortages. Overall, most areas are fine but they have had to drill new wells in some areas.

      @@RetireInLakeChapala tell me which areas are fine? I live in West Ajijic and read posts from around lakeside and I don’t hear anywhere it’s not a problem.

      @@sue3745 I also live in west Ajijic and have not experienced any issues in the past 3 years. Prior to that I lived further west near La Reserva and they were forced to drill another, deeper well.

      @@RetireInLakeChapala last year we were told a new well was drilled, but not sure it’s any better. We live close to La Reserva. Can you name areas that have plenty of water?

    • @RetireInLakeChapala
      @RetireInLakeChapala  Год назад

      @@sue3745 how could I possibly know that? There are many, many well heads. I doubt that the municipality even knows the water table of each one. Some wells are deeper, some not so deep.
      This is the downfall of living in one of the drier climates of the world.
      If you don't mind the rain, areas like the Pacific Northwest coastal B,C, or Amsterdam might me more suitable.

    Hi Ricardo. Que tal! I've enjoyed your presentations on Ajicic real estate over the last couple of years. Would you say that prices are starting to moderate in light of the higher interest rates and/or the general dampening of the housing market throughout much of the US? thanks!

    • @RetireInLakeChapala
      @RetireInLakeChapala  Год назад

      Hi Bernie. Remember that all sales here are cash. Mortgages, while available, are very high interest and no one uses them. There is still upward pressure on prices and it's dictated by low supply and high demand. Lots of new stuff being built but it's most desired by the Mexican market whom are buying ip everything.
      Short answer to your question....not really, but I feel we must be near the top.
