  • This is a very simple process and very affordable. If your not afraid to turn a wrench you can easily accomplish this preventive maintenance on the wet clutch/transmission and save tons of money in the process. this covers the 2003 to 2012 Suzuki Burgman 650 Maxi Scooter.

    I never bother with removing the inspection bolt. Just put the correct amount of oil in, as the manual states. No need to see the oil run out to know it is properly full. Less possibility for a mess too. Great diy demo! Very much appreciate your efforts. Thanks!!

    I just got the oil changed. Took out 2950 cc. Measured out the recommended 2600 ml . Unable to check window so will do it tomorrow when friend comes over. Both filter and bolt very difficult to remove. Had work done at shop last yr. A mechanic friend had to use foot and a half ratchet and got it loosened for me. I was able to complete the job. Job done by 70 yr old women…hope to do transmission oil tomorrow. Watched video’s several times.. Thank You very much. The dealership wrecked my drain bolt on my suzuki bouldevard a few yrs ago. Then denied it. Got that repaired at the Honda dealership for $almost $300.00 dollars….

    Found that the inspection hole is a good place to add the oil to the transmission. The fill plug is such what a pain in the butt to get to. If you add the oil thru the inspection hole with a syringe to the point of being over filled, letting the excess run out, your good to go.

      Tried this - liked the idea of saving time and energy removing the t-ware.
      However as I injected the oil, it started coming back out of the inspection hole after only 100cc's or so. Since I had the t-ware off, already, I went ahead and pulled the upper filler bolt and finished it the canonical way. I added about *200(!)*! more cc's before the oil started dripping out of the inspection hole.
      So, no - I don't think this is a good alternative.

    Had my 2017 650 Bergman oil Transmission oils replaced by York Suzuki yesterday, very upset as they damaged the outer casing plastic sealing lugs (catches so there is a Gap now,(won’t click back in) they denied damaging it said there mechanic Did not have to take the side panels off, as you can Clearly see they have to take them off to work and fill the Rear Transmission , last year they Major serviced the bike a Day later the Radiator Leaked and the engine Ceased they said it was a Road chip that must have caused it? I lost the bike out of action for three months and had to pay for a new Radiator, my thoughts were they must have moved and cracked the Radiator to fit two new Plugs is this RiGht ? Service cost me £350 plus an Extra £750 for a new Radiator, I’m still upset about the whole event, would like your thoughts here many thanks Pete!

      I think anything‘s possible with the stealerships they make their money by the service, not by selling the bikes. I always had the opinion that nobody’s going to take care of my equipment as well as I am so I always try to do all of my service sometimes that involves going down the rabbit hole, but I just take my time and muddle through. I think it’s very likely that they could’ve broken both items. It’s a tight situation getting getting to the plugs. It’s possible that they could’ve cracked it the plastic cover. I’m sure they probably broke if it wasn’t broken before. Good luck and ride safe my friend. I hope this helps.

      nolafishr I’m sure they are very similar but I can’t confirm this 100%. I know the plastics are different but the drivetrain should be the same.

    What's the mileage of the scooter buddy?

      @ManCaveMayhem  5 лет назад

      I’m not sure what you are asking? The miles that are on my scooter at the present are about 12,000. My average fuel mileage is anywhere from about 55 to 65 mpg. I hope I covered it.

    Always open the fill before the drain plugs!! If you open the drain and can't open the fill, you're screwed!!

    Why are you comfortable using a viscosity oil that isn't recommended by Suzuki, and what is the reason for using an oil formulated for diesel engines? I saw another guy on RUclips using the same diesel oil for a smaller 4 stroke, gas powered scooter. Harley Davidson recommends using an oil formulated for diesel engine's if your unable to get their oil brand, but never explains why. Why not use a viscosity oil recommended by Suzuki and formulated for motorcycles? Are you privy to information nobody else has including Suzuki? Seems like darklore someone picked up from online motor oil forums.

      MotorheadRedo The diesel oils are formulated for wet clutch applications and have anti foaming agents in them as do motorcycle oils. I use it with confidence I’m not advising you or anyone else to use it. I’m sorry if I gave that impression.

    Hello my friend possible to know the type of oil is it Sea Oil or what I would like to keep a picture of the oil if possible

      deea deea You would use a wet clutch compatible oil. The oil that I’m using is a 5w/40 Rotella diesel oil.

    Sorry dude. You've been misled. There is no need whatsoever to remove the lower left body panel to do this service - nor the crankcase oil change. The wet clutch does NOT have to be filled by putting fresh oil into the TOP opening. The reservoir can be filled from the center opening, in the exact same manner the rear drive oil is refilled. No need to remove the lower body panel to do the oil change either. Yes you must still remove the maintenance lid to access the oil filler plug.

      I take it off. I find it's easier. also while it's off I clean up all the road scum and junk off of the lower end of the engine. Thanks for watching.

      A noble reply. But the panel is still a major-league pain-in-the-geezer. For the deeper maintenance items, I'll let my mechanic mess with it. And one more item, I will be changing the rear drive oil every time I change out the rear tire. Just seems to be a more convenient maintenance venue. Keep up the good work!

      Will you please explain HOW to remove the lower panel? it looks like a pain in the butt....

    • @michaellandis2144
      @michaellandis2144 6 лет назад +1

      There is more than one video here that explains it. I totally is a pain in the geezer I recommend letting your mechanic do it when he does the "heavier" maintenance. For simply changing fluids, it simply isn't necessary. Happy trails!

      I second this. I don't remove the cover to do the transmission. Just re-fill from the level hole. Way easier.
