It's not fair to compare them, simply are not the same. Anyway, yes, in this game Vergil's combos are harder than Dante's combos. I suggest you to play this game (Definitive Edition) and see that Dante's Devil Trigger and Demon Evade bonus damage and speed are broken plus, Arbiter and Kablooey have a brutal damage (and you can multiply the damage with the bonus I said). I think this Vergil is stronger than the Dante of this proper game, he has a lot of burst damage, enemies in difficulty Vergil Must Die can be vanished with only 2 moves.
I actually prefer his default hair in the main game , his head with this new hair look silly af , unlike the old Vergil where it look really cool and badass. but I respect your opinion.

the dmc4 vergil was too easy to use, like this vergil in the past game, if u want to use vergil(my opinion btw)you need real true skill,it's too mechanical for use it and do good combo :) (sorry for my bad english)
