Garth picked me up hitchhiking in '75, took me across Golden Gate Bridge. I saw The Call open for Peter Gabriel in '83. Saw Michael at a hole in the wall, wooden set in Seattle, in about '98. Like Gabriel said, "a band with a lot of love". This song resonates strongly. Blessings to all who feel the call.
Amazing song. And the lyrics are spot on, aunt boo conspiracy theorists, only BS analyzers. These guys were way ahead of their time in what they were telling us.
Saw The Call and The Simple Minds I believe the summer of '85 while stationed at CAFB they played at a university venue if my memory serves me correctly. Great show from what I can remember 33 years ago. Did any others reading this comment see that show?
I saw The Call with Simple Minds headlining at San Diego State University. Jim Kerr joined on Walls Came Down . It was fantastic. Very likely the same tour you saw 👌
I saw them in '85 in Calgary Alberta, Canada, they opened for Simple Minds and it was a very memorable night for me as well. I'd never heard the Call until then and thought WOW these guys are awesome!
One of the most underrated groups of the 80's. These guys ROCKED!
Got to see them twice in Houston, back in '86 and again in '91. Absolute POWERhouse!!!
The happiest saddest song ever written... A masterpiece
Well put.
I was at this show!!! Omg. And I remember Garth Hudson too. What a great band. I still listen to them.

@@ronmclean309 Great story! Thanks.
I wish I could have been at that show. Good that I got to see The Call in the late 80s and early 90s.
I saw them live, too!
When I was a teen and first heard this on MTV I had no concept of the lyrics but I knew I absolutely LOVED this song. R.I.P.
Seen them in 84 in Fresno opening for Simple Minds , Excellent Show !
I believe Simple Minds just praised them at Cruel World. Bonds of friendship truly stand the test of time.
I wish there was a time capsule to go back to the 70s/80s. Seemed like simpler times
My right ear feels it.
Absolute classic. Just as good live as there recorded album. GOLD.
Thanks for a timeless performance and R.I.P.
Gold iconic song. Very underrated band. Just listen the vibe. Gold.
God bless Michael Been....
I often go back to these guys for some classic good tuneage. Wish things were still the same.
What a great song. This has to rank in my top 10 all time fav.
dkapone! yeah, man. The Call a timeless band and performance! "When the Walls Came Down."
Amazing song. And the lyrics are spot on, aunt boo conspiracy theorists, only BS analyzers. These guys were way ahead of their time in what they were telling us.
"The New Romans"
Prophetic song.
Indeed
And retrospective of the fallen past
So right. That's awesome that Garth was there too

I also saw them that tour in St. Louis at the Fabulous Fox Theater. I still get goosebumps thinking about the Simple Minds performance that night.
No, but I did once travel for an hour to see them open for the Psychedelic Furs, then left before the Furs came on.
That bass player is awesome. (They’re all great btw)
Garth hudson on keyboards. That says a lot about this band.
Great song . . and that's Garth Hudson!!! The Call rocks!!
it still rings true!
Loving Harry Henderson on keys 🔥🎹 anything was possible in Mr Been’s world
🤘😃
Indeed they have come down!
❤❤❤😂Danke.fürs Senden. Danke für die Performance ❤❤😂😂😂
He was so cute 😊
Outstanding.
Saw them live, mosh pit, punk rockers, good times...
A Song for our Time!
Amazing!
I still share this band with people
best. song. ever. change my mind.
Edit: anyone know if these guys are still alive?
Sadly no. The lead singer, Michael Been passed away in 2010 while traveling with his son's band, The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Great performance. Would be a lot better with both channels
For the musically trained, check out the harmonics of the main riff added in around 1:30 . Bitchin!!
Very Old SOUL and I do believe that they did him In 🤷🏼♂️
Considering some of the lyrics of some of their songs. I think The Call was a clandestine Christian band 🤔😉
WOOP !! WOOP !!!
That person at :42 is really into this song.
brandon wymer great observation!
Gold
The Great Garth
Party on Garth!
For years I didn’t understand the meaning of “cornbread criminals”
It's corporate criminals, isn't it?
@@ScottKornfeld they’re interchangeable
It’s weird to not see him playing bass.
Sound is off left channel barely audible
13 reasons why
Garth Hudson.
were the audience asked not to dance or what?
JERICHO 🤔 ??
most of the melody of the boss' latest, ghosts
geez - that bass player goin at it...
So does that left handed lead guitarist, Tom Ferrier...
Biblical story of Gerico
Jericho 🤣
I don't think there are any Russians
Poor Garth Hudson, stuck in a nervous 80's band for almost a year.
What?
Garth gives them cred.
One of the better 80's bands
Wow, there are Russians
No Russians. No Yanks. Just the Federal Reserve. Ya ya yaa, ya ya yaa..........
