A Relaxing Spring Backpacking Trip with my Dog | Sand Ridge State Forest B-Roll Only Version

- Remy and I head out for a 1-night backpacking trip to Sand Ridge State Forest. This little gem in Illinois is full of diverse terrain from dirt with tall pines to sandy trails with prickly pear. We hiked in about 0.76 mi to our campsite (#3) and then did a small 3.76 mi loop back to the car the next day. Overnight lows hit 32F, but we stayed warm in our Feathered Friends sleeping and had a nice, hot breakfast the next morning. Although the terrain is relatively flat, the sandy ground made it more difficult and we definitely had a good workout. The routes I took are below!

Yes, I felt out of practice, ha. I did make a full vlog with it but then just decided to do just a short b-roll video this time.
Such an awesome short video! I love how during the tent pitch speed up that it it looks like Remy is helping set it up lol.
He’s actually just waiting to get in the tent, ha. He gets impatient so I need to push him back so he doesn’t knock me over.

I was scrolling through your videos looking to see if you have something regarding rescue harnesses. Do you have a recommendation?
I don’t, primarily after watching Bailey Bremner. She has one that is helpful and after watching that decided I could not carry Remy out in one so would have to build some sort of sled and pull him out or drop my pack, hike out, and get help. So it was more important for me to learn first aid, bail out points, and emergency communication.

I pretty much used the slimmed down version of my weekend pack: 28L Jade, 10 essentials, water bladder, lunch and snacks. Usually I like to go 12-14 mi. I bought a new Gregory Maya 16L for shorter summer hikes.
