Hi Tipper and Matt, thank you for sharing your life with us. I love Matt's humor. He has a look about him that says hes getting ready to get into trouble. Lol I bet he was a hand full as a kid. Whenever you see a red bird in your yard, its a love one visiting from Heaven. So Miss Cindy is watching over yall. Im praying for Granny and for you as well. Always remember, if God brought you to the rhe storm, He will see you through the rhe storm. I love you all. Hugs

Hey Tipper and Matt, so good to see ya'll out in the garden. It is beautiful. Keeping ya'll in our thoughts and prayers. Granny we love you. You are a sweetheart. Praying for good report ❤
For me, a tour of your garden is as profound as a beautiful church service. I can't think of a more exquisite way to praise God and thank Him for what He gives us. I was touched to tears and I thank you for sharing it with us.
I'm sorry to hear that your Mother hasn't been well. I'll keep her in prayer! My husband is the same as Matt about deer hunting. We’ve had a few yellow squash but plenty of zucchini and I’m the only one who eats it. Just put up a lot of corn off the cob. It’s called Peaches and Cream and it so good! We still have onions to pull. In southwest Va today we have Tornado watch. I love our weather until after Christmas. Jan, Feb and March are just dismal dark days. HEY guys, I've been growing Early Girl 🍅s, in a big window on the West side of my house during the winter... When the sun starts moving to the South, I have a patio door I drag it over to... This year I started 1 early girl and 1 Roma... I get enough for little salads during the freezing weather, 😀 They get a bit leggy, but, it's worth the trouble... SOOO GOOD in the middle of ❄... 😋... 😘
God blessed us with an abundance of Cherry tomatoes also. I put my excess in a dehydrator. Just cut each 1 in half, face up, sprinkle with a little Sea salt. Once dried(4-5 days), I store in a plastic bag until I make spaghetti sauce. Then, I pulverize them into powder to thicken the sauce. Hope this idea was useful. 😊
I moved to Idaho back December of 2000 and lived there until April of 2002. The day our furniture arrived the high was -1⁰, and stayed cold like that for weeks. It warmed up one day, so I decided to was my truck. I went down to wash it, washed it, went to get back in it and it was frozen shut. I basically had to chip the ice off of it to get back in it. Even though I was wearing short sleeves, it was still 15-20⁰, but it just felt warm to me. I'm originally from Alabama, and it gets hot here, and when I was younger I liked the heat, but not now. I don't care for the -25⁰ , but I like 0-20⁰ weather a good bit, plus I like snow. I may move back to Idaho, mainly because it snows every night(at times), but their snow is kinda light and dry like dryer lint. People are nice, bunch of stuff to do, and it is pretty.
I have had a ton of cherry tomatoes too. I even let too many of the tiny, pea-sized tomato plants grow and they have taken over all of my other tomato plants. It takes forever to pick them all. I keep canning them because they are so numerous moreso than any other variety. Ugh. My San Marzano and Cherokee Purple did not do well this year. I was able to visit my grandma on jer bday in July. She turned 95. I told her she'd be proud of us bcuz we are canning garden veggies. She said she LOVED canning. I remember her kicking us out of the kitchen when the pressure cooker was out and the walls of canned green beans, tomato preserves and apple butter. I noticed driving to church yesterday that the sun's position in the sky cast an early fall-like look. Perfect for me is 75-85. You can leave the house open, walk out of the house without shoes or a coat. And can grow a garden. But it wouldnt be the same without a winter. They say when a red bird visits you, someone in heaven is visiting. I know it is folklore but one visited while I was holding my grandson at his sliding glass doors and one came so close and watched us for a while, while the other birds flew off. My mother passed away a while back and never met Parker. Boy, I love these videos. So relaxing and funny!
Each vlog I say is my favorite. The chemistry between you two is what helps people flock here. If you ever get a divorce, they'll have to give me therapy. Same girl--my cosmos grew tall along with the marigolds and my tomatoes took forever to ripen. But my nasturtiums will reseed on occasion and there is no rhyme or reason to it. I can't help you figure that out. This changing of the season's feeling is something not every state's population gets to know. I remember when we had to live in California during hubby's AF days, it nearly drove me nuts cause every day was the same throughout the year. Like the movie Groundhog Day. We lived around Santa Barbara and it was just disappointing cause having a big snow or fall color just didn't happen. Well thanks for inviting us along. I could talk all night but you've probably gone to bed with your chickens.
I just watched Miss Cindy bake a ham. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. My mom passed away 2 years ago and I still reach for the phone to tell her about my adventures and hear her voice, so I know what you are experiencing. I am also an only child and it is a very lonely feeling. I am so grateful to have a beautiful husband to help me make it through the loss. I’m sure the two of you have the same bond and help each other in trying times. Bless you and your family. Love you and appreciate taking us along on your life journey.❤
Well... I know the insult of the birds eating things up. Got out in the garden this morning and there was a beautiful yellow bird...sittin there on my trellis and casually nibbling on a green bean! Not a care in the world but just shredding that bean to pieces! So discouraging. And the buggers have pretty much eaten all of my blueberries as well....before they even turn blue! Hmmmph! Did get the first okry today EVER...so proud that I have defied the odds and actually gotten okry to grow, bloom and set pods in the Pacific Northwest! Also harvested the first cucumbers of the year as well...tasted sooo good! I wish that I could send you some squash...had bunches and bunches of both yellow and zucchini. Ahhh the success and agony of defeat of a gardener. Am praying for Granny as well as you all.
Tipper and Matt, being from California I had never actually seen it snow, 23 years were lived in the high desert while it would get cold never snow. Well this year California got hit with big rain and while it was pouring and so loud hitting the patio cover suddenly it got quiet. My husband came upstairs and said “Jen you’ve got to see this” well it looked like big white feathers falling from the sky. My first snow at 59 years old. It really was a revelation.
I looked it up for you. "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride" is a proverb and nursery rhyme, first recorded about 1628 in a collection of Scottish proverbs, which suggests if wishing could make things happen, then even the most destitute people would have everything they wanted. It has a Roud Folk Song Index number of 20004. Praying for Granny and the whole family.
Poor hungry Matt. My husband says the same thing , like what’s for supper or when are we going to eat? Love the videos . Sending many prayers for granny.❤
Praying that Granny doesn’t have cancer and that the Drs will have wisdom to give her the best type of treatment. Prayers for all the family especially with y’all still grieving for Ms Cindy😢🙏🙏
My grandmother used to say, “If wishes were fishes, we’d all have fried”. My kids, when they were young, would laugh whenever I said that 😂. Granny is blessed to find comfort in the quiet repetitive motion of crocheting - and even canning those green beans! Wishing her peace and no pain through these days 🙏
39:09 - Matt on the remaining green tomatoes, thinking if they stay green they won't get picked: "I'm fixin' to hurt their feelin's."! Hilarious! I just love his sense of humor! Tipper, while your lovely mother has been in my prayers, I also pray for you. I know all too well the toll that waiting and worry take, and I ask for strength for you, too. Thanks for the visit, folks. Peace be with you. 💚
Praying for Granny. Life is not fair , but God is good. I'm going through a rough time with my other half. He had a bad heart attack and now he's in heart failure. I know God is with us but it's hard. My heart hurts.
I Enjoyed our time Together as Always!! I PRAY Granny's test results will not be Dr. Oriented but HOLD TO THE LORD, HE can Chance Great & Mighty Things.. I love Matt's shirt.. And when He teases about You & Katie needing dried out before next yrs. Tomatoe seed planting.. I hurt much in Body no matter the weather. But if I had a choice REAL Fall, winter (no ice) snow I love to see.. I can Always get warmer, but struggling now with over 100's degree and WAY TO MUCH humidity, in MO. Matt, if you could hunt in MO I could have deer meat.. I LOVE canned or fried, Yummy!! So Many Good Memories of a time when Deer Season was a Fun time to see others come hunt..to I got to go for a Few Yrs. Such Memories.. Fun times good outdoors camping & hunting & cooking in the Snow.. GOD BLESS YOU ALL THERE ALWAYS!!
Oh Tipper,my heart to yours, I send prayers,I admire your bravery, please get enough rest, y'all look tired, I wish I lived near you, I'd bring you some supper and clean up for you, help you with your load, sending love and prayers to you and your family God bless honey
Granny is so precious, I hope the best for her, there are many beans yet to can, and things to crochet. As far as miss Cindy's house, have an estate sale to clean out what y'all don't want, then turn it into an airbnb, lots of people would like to vacation there. Many blessings.
Ms. Cindy’s house may just come in handy if a storm damages your house or Corie and Austin’s place. When extended family comes to visit they could sleep there too. Please don’t sell her place. Someday Katie may want her own house and it might be just right for her.
Tipper, my sister in law started crocheting Christmas bulbs for her tree that are so cute! It’s done with a single stitch chain long enough to wrap around , and around and glue to a clear bulb. Topped off with a bow. Super cute! Just offering a different idea, something simple for granny’s crocheting projects for gifts. 😃🧶
A cardinal comes when you’re loved ones are around! Y’all were talking about Ms Cindy, so that’s who came while you were sitting talking about her! ♥️ They will show up when you really need them also! If you are really down or just thinking happy memories, the cardinal will Always come around!!! ♥️
Tipper, I know what you're talking about time flying. Doesn't seem like any time since your video about Matt's first tomato sandwich of the season! Interested to hear you mention lettuce as a fall crop. I obviously planted seeds too late this spring, because nothing came up. I'll try again when it cools off some. Heat index down here in North Georgia supposed to be close to 120° this week, so probably still too hot. Not only have I never done vegetable gardening, but now I'm trying to do it in deck pots, so I've got quite a learning curve :-) Granny's at the top of my prayer list. Love hearing about her pluckiness. Hopefully that will stand her in good stead in fighting whatever her physical problem is. Much love, and thanks to you & Matt and the girls for welcoming us into your online family. You've kept me company the last few years hearing about my favorite subject: anything to do with the mountains. ❤
I agree with Matt about the heat. I love being outside when i could but cant stand the heat. I could live in a cold place. Since my back got so bad. I can't do very much anymore. Years and years of being a nurse, working long hours. But i loved it. I'm blessed that i xan still walk. Praise God.
Sharon, I’m also a Sharon and a retired nurse with back problems. I also loved nursing and would do nothing different if I could do it again. We know we made a difference and I had to tell my husband’s family that my working on Sunday was doing the Lord’s work, helping bring babies safely into the world. We had a good life, and maybe we hobble some but others can help us some now.
Hard to believe how fast the gardens come in and then go out. We had pumpkins come up by themselves in the beds from the compost last year. We had pumpkins in the 1st of July. That was awesome. Always enjoy your videos yall take care
What an amazing garden, you all have taught me to enjoy growing our garden, pickles, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini , so fun but lots weeds about now, buying blueberries and corn for the freezer now
My garden here in Northern California was taken OVER with nasturtiums this year. My apple tree has so many apples that a main branch just broke under their weight. That's what all that winter rain did for us!
Matt is SO funny,be talking along and look, sound so serious, then say something like"thats alright, we'll just have to get you dried out between now and spring,so you can do better with the tomatoes we can get more Cherokee purples next year "!! Tipper I'm with you, that's what I would have done too, gone straight to my bed, said i need something to eat!! Only someone would have probably had to nearly carried me!! Yes you talked about summer being gone so fast, when you were talking about stuff starting to wind down you can tell,i thought just doesn't seem like that long since you were planting different things, and so anxious for it to start bearing(especially tomatoes), and turn around it's gone!! Ft Worth Texas it's been 105-108 temp, don't know WHAT heat index!!! For days!!!
What a fun video. My husband is in total agreement with Matt on weather. He cannot tolerate the heat. He complains when the sun is too bright. He wants it to be 50 - 70 and overcast. He spent much of his childhood in the Pacific Northwest. We live in Oklahoma and summers are definitely hot here.
No matter how long Uve been gardening. I love learning more from you. Differently, stuff is still growing like crazy here..so harvest is still a question. Some years I calculate how much I need to grow to eat good versus how much dried beans cost. Love seeing how purity they look and how delicious home grown food really can be. I LOVE volunteers. Grow all my along my garden edge with marigold volunteers..deadheading them will do thst.
Tipper, when your Butter Beans get easy to shell out like that first one Matt shelled, then they're ready to be picked. Give'em a couple more days or you can go ahead and pick'um..I was slap tickled when I saw your squash up an down underneath that vine where your punkin was. I could almost taste it cooked. I got slap tickled when you said you give the Okrie to Granny! The look on Matt's face was priceless. Lol. He's so funny! He reminds of my husband so much when he was alive, his humor. I'd praying for Granny. She's so sweet and precious. I pray for Healing for her and that y'all get good results from her test. I'm also praying for y'all for strength and peace of mind! Much love to y'all God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤
You can can the tommy toes. They would be great for cooking and soups. I like the watermelon popsicles. Those beans look fantastic. So many cucumbers, pickles seem like a good idea. Those butternut squash yum. Lots of prayers for Granny.
I love your hyssop and I’m jealous of your butternut squash, I only got one small one before the squash bugs and vine bores got them. I’ve already harvested my onions and I too was very lucky and had a wonderful harvest, best I’ve ever had. Hopefully will last all winter as I got about 50 pounds. I cured mine by braiding and drying them. I would love to have the seed for your beautiful butter beans. I did grow rattle snake beans this year but they still didn’t do very good. I think because we are so much hotter here in Oklahoma than you are there might be the reason. I did a second planting of contender bush beans and when they were about 5 inches high the dang grasshoppers ate them to the ground! My favorite tomato for fresh eating is the Cherokee Purple. I did grow several kinds for canning. We are praying for granny’s healing, she is precious and reminds me of my sweet mama. If everyone could only have just half of their wonderful old timey wisdom and compassion this world would be such a much better place to live. We had 14 or 15 days of 100+ temperatures. Average was 105 every day so that’s why my garden burned up. But I do not like it when it’s below freezing for long periods either, this body of mine is getting older and the cold just hurts! You are such a sweet couple and I so admire the wonderful relationship you have with all your gardening and your fun family. I get a half bushel of okree every other day. I’ve canned, freezed, pickled and gave it away. Got enough for the whole county. I’m praying I get some turnips and mustard greens from the fall garden. I’m like Matt, I love the mustard greens! Please keep me posted on granny’s health and give her my love.
Continuing to pray for Granny. Oh and I was finally able to get some of the pop cycles, they didn’t have a combo box so I got pineapple, they are so good!!
In East Texas temps over 100 a few weeks now….have taken to playing ur dad’s Christmas CD when in the car!!! I love winter! Y’all are the cutest couple…..always enjoy ur videos!
Thoughts and prayers goes out to y’all and Granny. My Mom would always say around September that Pops neck is starting to swell up like a buck in the rut LOL. He got excited just like Mr. Matt. Much love and God Bless.
Y'all always talk about how good Cherokee Purple tomatoes are. I have never tasted one, but I'm going to grow some next year. Your mom reminds me of my mom. She was a tough country girl. With all she went through the last 15 years of her life I always said she was tougher than a yeller toe nail.
I cannot believe it's already August either! When we were kids summer days were so long & so much fun and we would still be going at nighttime catching lightning bugs & playing hide and seek in the yard! Your harvest looks awesome! Thank you for another relaxing visit & hope you can get to the creek & dip your feet in.😊 Praying for Granny. ❤🙏❤
Hate to hear that about Granny, and I do feel stress you're having when waiting for results. It's just been a year ago since my sisters and I were waiting for the results of our dear mother. It turned out to be bad news for her😢 Her last week in hospice during the second week of September seemed to drag out forever, and all we wanted was for it to be over and to stop her pain. Then, when she took her last breath, and yet today, we want her back! It's coming up on a year we lost her on the 14th of September 2022. I find myself crying daily. It's so hard!!
Finally got myself some Outshine Popsicles to eat while I'm watching your videos. They REALLY need to sponsor you! My family taught me that sayin' goes, "If wishes were fishes, we'd all have a mess."
Butter beans are definitely ready to pick. With butter beans, you pick them when the pods feel full. Don’t let them dry out because they can be tough to eat fresh. So good cooked and seasoned with butter.
Hi Matt and you should take a trip up to Maine. The weather is never that warm; lots of fishing and hunting. The black flies can be vicious. Praying for Granny.
I love the fall . Watching my grapes 🍇 will soon make jelly. We have been blessed with great tomatoes one weighed over a pound made a great sandwich. Prayers for granny and all of you..😅
God has a way to make sure that all of your needs are taken care of when you are having to care for your loved ones. My mom was in the hospital for a month during July a couple of years ago and I stayed with her every day. I got the most abundant harvest I could have ever hoped for. God blesses those who bless others.
When we were children and said the word wish our Wonderful grandfather would say, if wishes were fishes we'd all have some! He was an amazing man of God who along with Grammy grew amazing vegetable and flower gardens! No one left their home empty handed! Will be praying for your sweet Granny! She's as precious as she can be!💝
We sure do thank you for sharing your time and family with us. It is a kindness to all who watch. We all need the surrounding prayers for your family to be round the clock. Surly goodness and hope pursue you,as the lord has said. Psalm 23. Blessings and Gods good report to y’all. Brooks Oregon 🙏🌺🍉🍅
Them butter beans are so pretty! I hope they taste as good as they look. If they do I can see y’all planning a whole bunch of them next year. I love Matt’s shirt. Before I broke my arm and was wanting to put a new cabinet under the vanity in the guest bathroom. My husband, who hates to do any kind of woodwork or build anything decided he wanted to help me. My daddy taught me how to build things and started me out with small tools when I was around five years old. He was putting a big addition onto the back of our house and he would throw me pieces of wood with nails and a hammer and let me learn to do those kind of things first but, he didn’t start teaching me to use power tools until I was about 12 years old. I love to build things. I kept on building things even after my kids were born and I wanted to add another cabinet under the guest bathroom vanity. My husband told me that he would help me with it and I just cringed because I knew what it was going to turn into. His math brain kicks in and sometimes it’s just not the way that I measure things. I kept telling him what to do and he kept saying no we’re not gonna cut that down and do this or that with it we need to build a whole new one. I finally convinced him to do it the way I wanted to do it and it took a whole lot last time and came out beautiful. He said I don’t know how you do it the way you do it. So the next time I was building something he said again that he would help me. Once again he was determined he was going to do it his way instead of my way. I had found a shirt in Walmart that I bought and just hung in the closet. I went in and put it on and the saying on the front of it was OK, let’s do it your way, the dumbest possible way you could do it! It was bright orange with black letters on the front. He took one look at it and said OK, your way worked the best last time so I guess we will do it your way. L O L. I told him I had a very good teacher from the time I was five years old when it came to building things and that’s why I build things the way I build them. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida😎🦩🌞🦩😎

Oh my your butter beans are beautiful. One of my favorite things in life is shelling butter beans and peas out on the porch.
Just watched ‘My Life in Appalachia 1,2 and 3’ from two years ago..Three of my favorite episodes on this wonderful channel.
Thank you!

Prayers for granny❤😊❤❤❤
I would love the 75 degree te.p. all year long!❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am now addicted to the outshine creamy coconut (dried toenails) lol as Matt would say!! They are so good!!
😀
Even though it’s your garden, it just makes me happy to see you pickled vegetables
Many of God's blessings to be thankful for.

😁
The beans are so pretty. It's amazing how many different kinds of plants there are. It is nice to just sit isn't it
I just watched Miss Cindy bake a ham.
I’m sorry you lost her.
Thank you for continuing the discussions of old days and sayings❣️
Enjoyed the popsicle chat. Matt's right, the grape are the best.
🙏 for Granny and your family.
Grammys, in my prayers and thoughts... So are all of you ! ❤ STAY STRONG thru your FAITH !!! 😘😘😘
My Granny would always say if wishes were horses then we would all ride. Loved that saying
I never heard that but I love it! ❤
My mom used to say if wishes were horses beggars would ride. I like your Granny's version better!
My daddy would say "if only he'd been born rich instead of so good looking"!
Praying for Granny. Life is not fair , but God is good. I'm going through a rough time with my other half. He had a bad heart attack and now he's in heart failure. I know God is with us but it's hard. My heart hurts.
Prayers for Granny, that there will be a treatment for her.
Momma used to say if wishes were horses all men would ride!
I always thought the volunteers did so well because they were just so glad to be alive
Praying all goes well for your mother.
"If wishes were horses, beggers would ride." I believe.
Love and prayers to Granny.
And , If a bullfrog had wings……🤣🤣🤣🤣wonder if that’s the “r” rated one Matt was thinking?
Correct if wishes were horses beggars would ride nursery rhyme,
If lifs and buts were candy and nuts, we would all have a Merry Christmas”.
A right peaceable visit.
Stay safe today in the weather ! Storms !!
Love and hugs and prayers!
Matt i agree with you 100% nothing like deer season !
We grew purple hull peas. They did so well we froze them for the winter .❤
Glad you are feeling some better Granny. I 🙏🏼 the culprit of your troubles will just dissolve.
Those are beautiful rows of green beans!!
Can I just say Matt’s tshirt is right on point lol
Matt, I love your tee shirt. Must make Tipper feel good, too. Love you both and Granny. God bless you all.
Not only have I never done vegetable gardening, but now I'm trying to do it in deck pots, so I've got quite a learning curve :-)
Granny's at the top of my prayer list.
I'm sorry there's another family member that's so ill.
Love ya'all, hugs & God Bless YouQ
Hard to believe how fast the gardens come in and then go out. We had pumpkins come up by themselves in the beds from the compost last year. We had pumpkins in the 1st of July. That was awesome. Always enjoy your videos yall take care
Everything is beautiful Tipper!
What an amazing garden, you all have taught me to enjoy growing our garden, pickles, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini , so fun but lots weeds about now, buying blueberries and corn for the freezer now
Garden looks great! I like how its all organized. Great Job !!
What a sweet REAL video!! Keep on keepin on!!!
Curl up like a hound-dog! Love it!
Cherokee Purple Tomato sandwich;; lyrics and music to carry Matt's lament ! Alright musical🎻 family compose 📝your best.
Love your video. Prayers for granny.. God bless..🇺🇸🌹❤️
Thanks so much 😀
My garden here in Northern California was taken OVER with nasturtiums this year.
For days!!!
Kuwait is about 150 and Israel is like 120 or so. At that temp it doesn’t matter if it’s humid or not. Hot is hot(and I love it!)
Enjoyed praying for granny. God bless her she's a treasure, thought it was sweet that she wanted to show Katie her crocheting as soon as got home.
My tomatoes are just now getting ripe. I hope they are tasty. You sure have had a good garden. Prayers & Hugs. Hello Granny
Y’all’s bounty & garden looks great. Enjoyed the chat time. Praying for granny. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Pastor Lon 😀
Glad you like them! Thank you!
Love that 😀 thank you
🙏 for negative results. I’m so happy she’s feeling better and her spirits are up. That’s a huge plus
It turned out to be bad news for her😢
Her last week in hospice during the second week of September seemed to drag out forever, and all we wanted was for it to be over and to stop her pain.
Tipper, Matt's getting HANGRY! Better go feed him before the wind blows him away. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😀
Another nice visit. Love to hear Matt’s antics! 🙏for Granny.
Hi
Matt and you should take a trip up to Maine. The weather is never that warm; lots of fishing and hunting. The black flies can be vicious.
Praying for Granny.
Love your garden videos. I need to buy more Outshine popsicles!😂😂 It’s so nice to grow your own produce. Hugs and Prayers for granny and your family.
Love Matt’s dry sense of humor!! Enjoy y’all!
That wind signals Fall with the rustle of the leaves. They are drying out and you can hear them rustling. Prayers to Granny.
