  • This is a song that Granny and Pap used to sing together back in the day. Granny said they learned it from Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters. After Granny and I shot this video, I found that group singing it on RUclips (from 1972). They sang it with a very slow, lavish style. Pap and Granny sang it with a peppy tempo and in a style that was a little closer akin to bluegrass. I always liked the sevens in the pitches of this song's vocals, and I thought it was a cleverly written song that could make some listeners stop and think about their souls and eternity. So many folks requested another song with Granny that we had to oblige, so we gave this one a try. We hope everyone had a great Labor Day. We did. Granny received many nice cards from folks who watch this channel and Celebrating Appalachia. I took her to Walmart so she could spend a gift that card that someone generously gave, and she stocked up on more yarn. :-) In the month of September, there will be a song/video on this channel for Hank Sr.'s birthday, and a video or perhaps series of videos to mark the 50th anniversary of the Wilson Brothers' first album. The new CD's have arrived, and there will be a video about it on Celebrating Appalachia, though I'm not sure when it will "air." Thanks for watching. :-)
