Cool Water

I think this take of Cool Water turned out okay, considering that I did no practicing or additional takes. I blanked on the third verse for a few beats but was eventually able to remember it. :-) Unfortunately, the automatic gain control of the camera, RUclips, or both squashed the chorus down a little and kept it from being louder than the verses. That seems to be a tricky thing for me. If you noticed, All of Curt Oxford's videos did not have this problem. He seems to know exactly how loud to make the loud parts of his vocal without getting too loud, which is impressive. Those kinds of singers make it very easy for sound engineers to set their levels in the studio or on stage. Thanks to Pap and Granny, I've seen thousands of western movies and TV shows, and in many of those stories, characters were short on water and trying to cross the desert. Invariably, one thing that annoys me in those shows and movies, is that there's always at least one character who drinks sloppily or carelessly from the canteen or waterskin and spills as much water as they manage to get into their mouths. In those moments, I can't help but criticize them out loud, as if they can hear me telling them what a dumb move they just made. :-) Please let me know in the comments if I'm alone in this regard or if you too have done that or been irked by that same common detail. :-)
