I am very limited for space at the moment,so I have to be careful what I buy. In the past I’ve gotten rid of a lot of DVD’s and only upgraded the films I will watch over and over,the rest have gone to charity shops.

Things are always coming in about ten times quicker than (I can watch them and) they go out, but it is necessary for those of us with collections of our size. It's fun finding stuff for super cheap at the thrift store, or Dollar Tree, or whatever...but then a year goes by - or five - and you realize you haven't watched it yet, and you just know you will never get to it, so it's time to purge. It's just another part of the collecting process, IMO. Anyway, thanks for sharing, and I hope you feel better soon!
Mate think we all go through this time to time, we think about the DVDS, Blu rays, 4K in our collection and ask ourselves will I ever watch again, prob not, get rid of then, sell it online make yourself some much needed cash, I'm doing this myself with my own collection, I've bought too many and not given myself the time to watch. I’m in the process of doing this, getting rid of duplicates, films I’ll never watch again, plus consolidating movie collections(why have 5 separate cases when you can have a box set that’s smaller.)
I do a purge of my collection once in a while, but lately I've been doing it quite a lot. Sold many stuff in the last few months. Get well soon, and good luck with reorganizing your movie room.
Some of those boxsets are wonderful much better than standard Blu-ray fodder. I replace the dvds with Blu-rays inside my favourite dvd boxsets and keep them. Also means i have a steady supply of proper bluray cases to swap out those dispicable eco aka not fit for purpose cases that are inflicted on us today👍🍺🍺
I do an annual purge of my dvds every month or so, I'm like "god dammit, will this collection ever get smaller?", impulse buying, seemed like a good idea at the time.
if I'm not sure about an older movie I'll pick it up on DVD at a charity shop/garage sale for about $1 and if I think I'll watch it again I try and pick it up cheap on Blu ray and if I don''t think I'll watch it again I'll donate it to a local charity shop
No Rob! Don't do it! But if you must, I wish you lived in the states. (Or I lived in the UK.) I'd buy some of those off you. I love the look of DVD on my TV, it reminds me of a different era, and I love the old artwork on some of those cases as well. However, looking forward to seeing what you do. And get well soon! P.S. I have those star trek box sets but I am keeping them because they have the original special effects
Oh yes! My original series blu ray box set has the option to play the episodes with the original sfx or remastered sfx
