Your videos are entertaining to watch. I’ve just cleared out a load of old stuff as I really needed to create some shelf space and there’s a lot of movies that I didn’t actually like much and won’t watch again. Sales via eBay and CEX have also helped generate a bit of cash which is always handy 😊
I keep some of my DVDs as some of the special features from them don’t always make the cut. If you are in commentary tracks, those sometimes don’t make the transition. For example, I got From Dusk till Dawn on Blu-ray, but it did not have the Tarantino and Rodriguez commentary track of the DVD.
I really liked your video, I have a bookshelf full of DVDs, boxsets that I have gathered over the years and the last thing I ever thought about was getting rid of them. Without Netflix and Prime and everything these days I dont use them as much. But I want to start siting down with my kids and watching some. I seen gremlins and goonies on your shelf, 2 of my favorite films :)
Over the years my vhs gone dvds iv got rid to make space , just Blu-rays and 4 k Blu-ray inmy physical media room 😍👍 im 53 so yiu can only imagine the stuff i would still have if i didn't get rid over the years 📼💿
I hope you’re feeling a bit better after your last purging video. Where do you pass your unwanted films on to ? Here in the U.K,we use CEX (if they are worth some money).
That's a problem for me, here I. The States. Well, at least where I live. I dot have anywhere I can take movies to sell/trade. I hate dealing with the anxiety of eBay and selling in Facebook groups would be okay, if it wasn't for (this might rub someone the wrong way) how cheap some people are. They want / expect a whole box of Blu-rays (50-100) to be $25 shipped.
Used to regularly purge the collection pre-Covid and still do so nowadays to some extent. Space is finite and you can't keep and store everything if you're a serious collector (unless you live in a mansion). Gotta be careful what titles you select though. Over the years, I've ended up giving away old horror titles that are now out-of-print and having to track them down online in order to re-watch them.
Cool to purge I say. Especially if the same content and better resolution is there. Sometimes I get lost in the physical appearance of my media rather than the media itself 😂 so strangley im guilty of keeping things because it just "looks cool" to me.
you even have paws 0:11 i have same paws mounted on the wall next to , lucasfilm ltd THX sound system , poster those disc are all near field tampered soundtracks , i get laserdisc or compare with 35mm , need radio astronomy , spectrum lab , compare the waterfalls using " all colours " bit tricky set up as its designed for radio astronomy but is best for testing soundtracks , when connected to , booth monitor , i get 35mm if i wanted but been there done that , uci , warner bros , no need for studios to tamper with soundtracks , since 1998 brain vessa has made hone cinema market a sheer mess , all that goerge lucas and tom holman set out to putting right all in vain , some early dvd had theatrical mixes but some people moaned they too loud apocalypse now THX/AC-3 compared to some early dvd , i may as well bin the dvd , ( aspect ratio on all is zoomed in ) first blu edition had corrected scope ratio , uhd dolby atmos i may as well bin that , the AC-3 is unique , so is the THX prototype laserdisc , that even tom holman told me when he compared THX laserdisc transfer was transparent with the 35mm , my reply was , tom that is how it should be , transparent
15 yeas ago I started a major purge, as I was tired of format updating over and over again, plus not having enough space. My solution was iTunes. And since iTunes extra and free movie upgrade to 4K, I have just replaced everything. My digital collection is not that big, it’s 750+ movies, 380 of them are in 4K. Only about 50% of my movies was bought 4K, the rest was upgraded. Over the past 15 years all my movies are still accounted for. And I know that for sure, as everything is registered in CLZ. So I know, when purchased, at what price, etc..

I've got a stack of DVD and Blu-rays next to me that were upgraded to Blu-ray or 4K (respectively) that I sell on ebay.

Trying to purge collection as well

I really can not purge and luckily I can keep everything in sealed boxes in the garage.
you even have paws 0:11 i have same paws mounted on the wall next to , lucasfilm ltd THX sound system , poster
those disc are all near field tampered soundtracks , i get laserdisc or compare with 35mm , need radio astronomy , spectrum lab , compare the waterfalls using " all colours " bit tricky set up as its designed for radio astronomy but is best for testing soundtracks , when connected to , booth monitor , i get 35mm if i wanted but been there done that , uci , warner bros ,
no need for studios to tamper with soundtracks , since 1998 brain vessa has made hone cinema market a sheer mess , all that goerge lucas and tom holman set out to putting right all in vain ,
some early dvd had theatrical mixes but some people moaned they too loud
apocalypse now THX/AC-3 compared to some early dvd , i may as well bin the dvd , ( aspect ratio on all is zoomed in ) first blu edition had corrected scope ratio , uhd dolby atmos i may as well bin that , the AC-3 is unique , so is the THX prototype laserdisc , that even tom holman told me when he compared THX laserdisc transfer was transparent with the 35mm , my reply was , tom that is how it should be , transparent
I go through and check once a year
When you purge are you donating, gifting, selling, leaving them in your apartment lobby for grabs?
