Another one of Amtrak's newly painted Phase 7 P42DC engines AMTK 138 has been hanging around the Los Angeles area recently. Last night it came in leading Amtrak 11 the Coast Starlight. I grabbed a shot of it near Main St. It appears this engine was replaced last night with the other Phase 7 P42 in the LA area AMTK 167 for the trip back to Seattle today on Amtrak 14.
Unfortunately the AMTK 138's nice sounding narrow font K5LA was swapped for this garbage raised letter few months back.
Threw in a bonus horn show clip from the AMTK 6906 departing Fullerton.
Thanks for Watching!

I think 138 so far has to be my favorite of the current Phase VII repaints along with 75. Nice video, Chris!
Yeah it’s a bummer when 138 got repainted they replaced the old horn it had, I didn’t see that coming honestly I was almost sure they would fix it instead of getting rid of it but this is Amtrak we’re talking about so makes sense. Nice video and I dig 6906!
It actually got replaced before getting Phase VII. I have a video of it in November when its new K5LA before the repaint.
1:25 Somebody likes their job....Thumbs up! Great video!
I heard 167 is now running on the starlight
When was the hornshow clip taken?
In the evening

Nice horn quill and hornshow! They look very good together.
