I actually would like to visit some of my patients resting place, but not yet. It’s too soon. Patients died without family or friends there. I can't fathom that in the US, supposedly one of the most wealthy and developed countries in the world, and in the 21st century, still do jane and joe doe burials clandestinely in mass like this. Why not just cremate them with dignity and respect? These interments were still human beings, they still deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and not just "dump " their bodies (and in mass) underground in a lonely, secluded, inaccessible island away from civilization just because they were either poor people or Jane and John Doe, it wouldn't surprise me that a third world country would do this, but in the USA?

Showing more than enough money in the account to have carried out his wish - send his remains down south to be buried near his mother. There were so many deaths that we had to use refrigerated trucks. Many funeral homes literally had no space to handle the influx of bodies. So, Hart Island was the logical way.

Pls don't treat the dead on Hart Island like prisoners. They have souls longing for comfort, remembrance & guidance to the other side. More than just RIP.
They cannot remove the penal system or the correction officers because a lot of the people buried there are convicted felons, inmates, criminals, disabled, mental retardation, homeless persons. Keep in mind that people who died in prisons are in Potters field as well.
I am sure there are a ton of unsolved cases in that cemetery in which why it is heavily guarded. Probably a lot of nasty inside dirty business going on there.

Pls don't treat the dead on Hart Island like prisoners. They have souls longing for comfort, remembrance & guidance to the other side. More than just RIP.

They cannot remove the penal system or the correction officers because a lot of the people buried there are convicted felons, inmates, criminals, disabled, mental retardation, homeless persons. Keep in mind that people who died in prisons are in Potters field as well.
I am sure there are a ton of unsolved cases in that cemetery in which why it is heavily guarded. Probably a lot of nasty inside dirty business going on there.
