    As a new Necron player, my thought was that Sautekh giving you Imotekh, Hyperlogical Strategist and their strategem are what make them effective. If you make Imotekh your warlord you are effectively gaining 4 CP, 2 from him and saving 2 by not having to buy the Hand of the Phaeron pregame to do MWBD twice.

    The custom dynasty I've been trying to make is one that has very recently awakened. They are nowhere near as hostile as the typical Necrons Dynasty, as they quickly made peace with the humans within their star system. Their bodies and weapons glow with a distinct purple hue, and are armored with a variety of colorful metals. They value 'mortal' life very highly, and adore the few eager-to-learn humans within the Imperium. They do have one species that they absolutely despise: the Tyranids. They view the Tyranids as a virus in an otherwise functional system, a virus that must be exterminated. Even the Orks are less threatening in their eyes, as the Orks at least possess some level of logic and reason. Their true goal is to foster the other species into a perfect golden age. That includes the Orks, which they plan on putting into an isolated, war-torn system, where they can fight to their hearts content.

    Gotta say after loving the colors and painting a Nihilakh army in 6th edition when they first became a thing in the lore, then struggling through their kind of mediocre rules in 8th, it's refreshing to see what they have now. In the few games I've played of 9th, the Obsec has been so good it's hard to remember they have other rules, though they're not perfect. Still, for all the new Necrons I've purchased I'll probably go Szarekhan just because I want to have them with the Silent King!

    I have a fun cheese list built. You go novokh and take 3 squads of 20 warriors with gauss reapers. Novokh gives you both directives of hungry void so you can shoot the warriors and then charge 20 warriors for 40 Strength 5 ap -1 attack for each squad.

    • @DenMedSvartNos

      But Hungry Void only gives ap on 6s and +1strength on charge doesn't it?
      However, thr Blood rites stratagem does give +1A to a Novokh unit, and Disruption Fields can give another +1S.

    Not a Necron player but thinking of starting one with the models I have. It seems to me that a custom Dynasty with Obsec and the 6" pre-game move would be the strongest. Most 9th edition games I have seen played it seems whoever controls the first engagement is at a significant advantage. Being able to move an additional 6" after deployment and seeing who is going first lets you dictate where many of the fights from the start and seems invaluable whether you are first or second in the turn.

    What about the other szarekhan ability where if a model with the code would be wonded as the result of a mortal wound roll a dice on a 5+ that wound is not lost? that's basically a secondary save seems pretty good but I didn't see you mention it?

  • @colt4512100
    @colt4512100 4 года назад

    I don't think there's anything in the Nephric dynastic code that says they can't charge after using translocate. Also by the wording, does it mean that you can choose to make an advance if you still want to fire assault weapons? If so, it seems ok. You can get guaranteed 6 inch advance if you don't intend to shoot and can still charge if you plan to.

    • @stephenhumphreys9149
      @stephenhumphreys9149 4 года назад

      When you translocate you are still advancing, so the normal 'no advance and charge' rule applies. And yes, you 'can' translocate, you don't have to so you can advance normally and still fire assault weapons.

    so question.
    i notice you already have a vd comparing the doomsday ark vs the doom stalker. but im trying to decide what the best anti-tank unit to put in my (mostly plained for close combat) list.
    the best four options seem to be the heavy destroyers and the three dooms. your opinion plz as to which would be the better one/ones to bring?

    • @alexanderbernau8023
      @alexanderbernau8023 3 года назад +1

      I would 100% bring the doomstalkers. Heavy destroyers do less damage and are squishy with less range point for point. The doomstalkers also don't need much babysitting from deepstrike with thier special overwatch rules.

      You can play as you want. There is no rule that you army has to be painted in specific colors.
      Your necrons can be pink with golden chains on them, as long as the models have the weapons they should have, you are WYSIWYG compliant for tournaments.

    • @sedy5297
      @sedy5297 4 года назад +2

      It absolutly doesn't matter anymore because there are custom dynasty traits, one of which is "Vassal Kingdom". This allows you to use the dynastic code of one of the big named dynastys. I am not entierly sure about Artifacts and Warolord Traits though.
      However the only person that would complain about that is "that guy" and honestly fuck that guy. No one will be bothered by it
