This is a reupload of the video that came out about 1h ago to fix the visuals being out of sync with the audio. It was due to an error that occasionally happens with my (very basic) video editing software that I usually catch before release. I figured it was worth re-editing and uploading given that this one will hopefully be of use to people searching in the future.
Hey brother, would you make a "How to start a Night Lords army" video? I have been looking all over and no one has made one. Love your work keep it up!
When I was a young lad and wanted to start a RUclips channel, I came to the conclusion that I would never be able to do it with only iMovie on my mom’s laptop for editing software. Auspex Tactics is now proving me wrong.
@@austinschmidt4165when we get our codex and our legions have their detachments untill then build basics you like. We are getting some refreshes in spring so avoid any dated kits you don't like (and hord the ones you do).
Returned to the game recently. I hopped in originally at end of 4th Ed when Necrons weren’t used much. Loved their ability to come back from the dead and be a lingering annoyance. Returned a month or so ago to find out they were the last editions headline army with space marines and got A LOT of love. So cue me grabbing two Indomitus halves and all the crypteks I could grab to bolster my older models. Gonna be busy in the next few months
I first got exposed to 40k about 2 years ago. Immediately fell in love with Necrons. I've been putting off actually buying stuff, but you are tempting.
Thank you so much for the video, I'm isolated in this hobby and I'm reasonably new. I have part of a 9th edition necron set, a few random units, and a whole lot of tyranids but tue necrons are my true passion. Thank you. This is wonderfully helpful
Found my necron 3rd edition codex, a monolith and a couple units of my necron army from a decade ago! So excited to get into matches again. got the combat patrol and re learning 10e and beyond. Happy gaming in the grim dark future fellow Necron players 👍🏽🤖
I'm a beginner in living in Japan. I want a Necron Lord, but the only way to get it is to buy it on eBay through an agent. Stupidly, I ended up paying nearly $70 for shipping and handling charges. Therefore, I will modify and demote the $20 overload.
Necron Lords don’t exist anymore in the new codex (they removed the data sheet completely) so there is absolutely no point in getting one unless you want it to sit on your shelf until 11th edition
Honestly if you can go to Games Workshop's Tokyo branch you should have access to almost all the models. It is the biggest and their main shop in all of Asia I believe. Also one of the only places in Asia that carries forgeworld models.
I’m thankful I started my Necrons army back in 9e with the Indomitus box, and expanded it with the Command Edition starter box. Those two boxes gave me plenty of Warriors, a half dozen Skorpekh Destroyers, and a good assortment of characters. I also appreciated that the starter boxes didn’t overlap with the 9e Necrons Combat Patrol, giving me Immortals/Death Marks, 3 Tomb Blades, and a Doom Scythe. The Doom Scythe is virtually unplayable because of 10e’s Flyer rules, but I’m glad I got it - and at a great discount. In comparison, the 10e Necrons Combat Patrol isn’t a great value, but it’s the only option because the 9e Starters and CP boxes are gone. The tricky thing is that 10e Necron detachments are geared toward specific unit types, whereas 9e’s dynasties had some good rules without as many restrictions. For new players, they should choose a detachment and buy for it. Don’t try to do everything. I have over 8000 points of Necrons and I still can’t fill an all Destroyer or Canoptek detachment. Another reason to be cautious about starting/expanding a Necrons army is that Necron models aren’t the easiest to build. They can be pretty spindly and break easily if you’re not careful. Remember: Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Also, I highly recommend magnetizing the Necrons models’ bases for safe transport. Packing them in foam tends to result in breakage.
A good mention that there's still weekly magazines of Warhammer Imperium that should cover near 2500 to 3000 points Necrons for a massive discount, there might be areas that are in the early numbers and some at the later numbers.
@@Oncomancer the current run has finished (at least it has in the UK), but GW may decide to do it again in future after the current AOS run. Many of the issues with the most savings went very quickly
@@Oncomancer Wasn't sold directly by GW but by 3rd parties like Forbidden Planet. There was a subscription through Hachette Paintworks which was pretty good. Just Google "Warhammer 40k Imperium Magazine" if you want more details, but as I said, it's pretty much done now 👍
Dipping my toe back into Warhammer and annoyed I didn't pick necrons originally as they were always the most interesting to me, Orks were funny though 😅
aw you didnt mention their killteam box. For $65 GW retail youre getting a decent discount, one battleline and a great HQ. Even cheaper if you get it through a LGS. You could also get more value out of it if you have some extra necron legs or find a couple bits or warriors for sale. You could make a royal warden proxy with despotek and a cryptek proxy with the apprentek. Total thats roughly 200 points for at max $65.
Huge starcraft fan here, my entire life (im 37) ive wanted to recreate a starcraft battle type display. Choosing space marines (not sure which) as terran, necron as protons, and tyranids as zerg. Anyone have any better replacement for protoss or which space marines would look the most like terran?
I've just decided to finally get in army making and after buying fish patrol I could get my hands on, you upload this. Perfect timing really! It'll come really handy
Hi. I am a Necrons player and that is all I've ever played. I'm starting to feel weird about reanimation protocols because a lot of the time when I win I have nearly my entire army on the board. All the reanimating, regen, high saves, cover, LOS, etc. It just makes it hard to put my army down. Now I realize it's not a top tier army and this likely has a lot to do with my opponents and their armies, but it does feel kind of odd. And when I face my friend's Genestealer army he does a lot of "reinforcements", which essentially feels like reanimation. And same thing with the Tyranids. It seems like there is a ton of this in 10th.
my sneaking suspicion is that its an overcorrection to first move advantage that could result in the majority of your army being dead before you could play eith bad luck
What I mean is that my army just never seems to die because they're so durable and keep coming back to life. So when I win I have barely any dead models.@@mark1A100
I just got back into warhammer after and I used to collect necrons. Most of my old army is 5th edition tho I have some from the 3rd, 4th and 6th editions, I used to collect from 2011-2016 (older stuff was gifted to me). Would it still be possible to use these models to play? I don't plan to enter any competitions or tournaments as I just want to play occasionally for fun.
Really helpful video, love it! I was always into the 40k books and recently won the Combat Patrol set from the christmas raffle of my local store. Do you have any Tips for how to progress from the patrol set to a 1000 point army to the 2000 point army you suggested? Not really sure about that 1000 point middle step :D
When will the imperium of man use the Dragon on Mars for new and blasphemous weapons!? Would it be of any use to the Necrons? Ohh I want Hexmarks and warriors next for my collection because of a western episode I saw on the internet! Stay fly!
How good is the old combat patrol? I am considering starting 40k with necrons, and the combat patrol is an obvious first place, but I hesitate to get the new one it since it has Skorpekh destroyers, which I find to be rather ugly (like of all the units I have seen, I would rate them either dead last or second to dead last) and make me completely uninterested in it since about 1/3 of the money is Skorpekh destroyers.
@royaltyfree9607 neither does the tachyon arrow. Just pointing out the differences. If you're going to run an overlord competitively in the current setting, you'll want the new one with the shroud

Yeah, they got a lot of love in 9th, that same love got progressively eliminated with 10th and the codex
