Good luck to you, Nelson and thank you for the views and for commenting.
Since I'm starting my CDL journey with a manual truck. Your videos are invaluable. Best ones I have watched so far
It’s a refresher course for me, even experienced drivers need a refresher on this
Easily the best video for tractor trailer turning on RUclips
Great educational video, i feel like I've gained the knowledge to skillfully make those tough turns and earn my CDL's.
I will hold on to this procedure forever. Thank you, sir.
Thank you very much! I like how you took me on the road with you as that’s how it felt. I was getting a front row sit
Great feedback, Miss Wendy! We have videos for the backing maneuvers and pre-trip inspection, too. Thank you for watching and commenting.
"Go straight, turn late." My most important takeaway.
I had a real bad instructor recently while I was attending a school here in Fontana. Guy did 0 to guide me through the turns and had me focus more on the tractor than the trailer.
Love the video! Colorful Colorado! I’ve been on almost all those streets especially us85 and the side streets by your shop!
Great video
Thank you! For this simple and easy to understand vlog
very well explained and covered a great important information especially new drivers.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful.
Right on, Darlene. Thank you for watching and commenting. Good luck with your training.
You knotty boy ! I saw you shift without the clutch there. Just kidding! Been doing this for 43 years, and I shift the same way. I do however teach my students to use the clutch most of the time. This was a very well done video, and I will have my students view it. Excellent work !
Yeah...Steve should have been double clutching in this training video. We also teach our students to clutch, Doug. After graduating, they're welcome to stop by for a quick floating lesson. Thanks for watching, brother.
Very informative video 👍🏽
thanks 4 posting this, right turning a tractor trailer is a little bit hard for me Lol
very useful, thanks
Well made video! thanks
And thank you for watching and commenting, James.
Very helpful. Thank you
Right on, brother!
Thank you!
Good information to have
Helping alot thanx!, got my CDL A test in a day & my driving still kinda sucks LoL.
thank you sir really helpful
You're welcome!
Ty!
Thank you
Good Video, If you're about to make a right turn and you need the oncoming lane momentarily, should you block traffic if there is an oncoming car? The oncoming lane on the road your turning onto, not the one you're already on.
I take my retest tommorow, thanks for the advise. I did button hooks that failed me.
Are you sure it was button hook turns? I can see failing for jug handle turns, but not buttons.
Antway, thanks for watching and commenting, Sulian. Good luck tomorrow!
thank you
You're welcome, Musa!
And thank you
What's a good gear to turn if your still rolling?
Excellent question, ronnie. With an empty trailer, you can make your turns in 5th or 6th gear with no clutch. Try this: approach a turn in 6th gear and place both feet on the floor. Allow the truck to pull you through the turn all by itself. You don't need the clutch in a turn if you're in the correct gear. Thanks for watching and for your question.
Any reference points to look for while making right turns and left turns how do you know if you came out enough ?
As he said. "Watch your convex mirrors" Turn right look right. Turn left look left. That's what those mirrors are for.
Thank u, about to take my road test
Same
@@AlecDaStar i took the test back then and passed been driving for a while now and its changed my life ! Since then I bought a new house and I have like 5k in my 401 k im off welfare lol been great !
What gear are you in while turning ? 5th or 4th. In a 10 speed.ty
Would this be the same for doubles like fed ex smaller trailers but how they are doubles?
Yes, but doubles usually require less space than a 53' as they bend in the middle and the back trailer follows the rear of the front trailer
ok what a bout a dual right turn lane into a 3 lane road, can you then use the outside lane and creep left into lane 3, and end up in the middle lane? seems smarter than cutting of the left right turners.... i have searched everywhere and cant find this answer...
I think your solution is fine, Nick. I haven't seen any dual right turn lanes in Colorado, though. Excellent question.
@@Cdlcollege thank you, my question though was, is it legal, and should i do it on a cdl road test
@@caropresonick You are correct. Always turn from the outer most lane on a double right or left turn. I will quote my Professional Driver's Manual for you. On page 61 it says "...turns must be made from the proper lanes...without interfering with other traffic. If there are two lanes side by side with signs indicating you are allowed to turn right from either lane, the turn should be made from the left-most lane. This will give you a larger turning arc and you should not have to worry about traffic to your left side." To turn from the other lane with a large vehicle is very dangerous and I don't know why anybody would want to do it. If you are taking your test and you turn from the inside lane and interfere with a car you will fail the test. It is dangerous and not worth it.
Was this filmed with a 53 foot trailer?
"We're not gonna change our mind at the light"
I’ve been told to use fender mirror. Convex cannot see that far away.
Are there ever double right turns? Like the double lefts
CheifChan yes sir
Yup, we got lots of them in my city, and you always take them from the outer-most lane, so you do not interfere with traffic in the other lane. See my previous post for the drivers manual rules.
Love the constant chatter. It's showing others all the mini decisions that are constantly happening to be a safe driver.
"Because we're a truck driving school, not a prison." hahaha!
Yep, we make it easy for people to come to school with mega-flexible scheduling. Our students tell us when they want to come to school. Thanks again, RumbleTruckin!
Failed my last test, in par,t for shifting in an intersection.
That sucks egg rolls, Clay. Sorry to hear that. You'll get it next time. I failed my first test, too, brother. Keep your chin up.
That's why he said to do all your shifting before your turn. A little secret here. We all shift in turns, but you are really not supposed to do that. All you new guys need to keep both hands on the wheel while turning, especially in the test.
How is it possible to make a turn on 5th gear? I thought the truck would be in a high speed. I thought 2nd and 3rd gears are for turns.
Our trailer is empty. With less weight, you can take turns in higher gears.
We routinely have students take turns in 6th with their feet on the floor just to show them that the truck won't die through the turn.
Thanks, zacky.
One more thought:
The maximum speed in 5th gear is 12-13mph, which is slow enough for most turns.
OK, bye.
I take most of my turns in 5th or 6th. If you want to take them in a lower gear that is OK, but 2nd gear is really slow and you might get some car drivers pretty upset.
Don't shift during a turn....
Hi
Where are there in Morocco
Please
little easier to get trailer to follow with a sleeperless truck short wheel base.
