Seriously one of the best Neuro Bass tutorials i've seen so far. Thank you very much! Really glad, that you didn't pull out a random plug in which also costs money in the end to fullfill that soud, like a whole lot of people do :D
Great to see ur workflow in detail and not only a 5 min vid of u twisting the knobs. Not a lot of people do this, and even less people do explain it as well as u do.
Yeah that's something I don't like about some tutorial channels, "set knob A to 50%, knob B to 35%, and so on...", that to me just doesn't make sense because you don't really learn much from it. Instead I like to explain WHY I do certain things, that to me is much more informative and helpful than the other way of doing it. Thanks for your comment!
@@artfxdnb hey I have a question. I wanted to an off-rhythm modulation bass in serum which slows down over time but will be in 1/16 or 1/8 modulation in the start or mid of a bar. Basically, I want an off rhythm bass which is IN RHYTHM in the start of the bar but glides down like portamento to other rhythms when its nit in the start of the bar or the mid of teh bar. I tried my best to explain this but this is the best I can do...
@@arnav3133 Start by using the delay setting of the LFO, this will offset the start position of the LFO itself. Then you can automate or use a macro to move the rate of the LFO.
Another great piece of knowledge :D thanks! It feels like I already know everything what You showed and how You achieved that sound, but the way how You get there makes so much more sense, same with tutorial for crunchy paper bass, first create bass for a bass with not much high end, add filtering and from there go easy with introducing distortion. I’m always getting carried away with adding either too much distortion or adding it too quick and loosing all the structure I was going too what makes sound really messy. Keep it up m8!
Yes mate, this is a nice bass love it finally worked out how to get notifications everytime you upload. I've got some serious catching up to do by the look of it
If you use portamento, use longer notes and mess with the LFO a bit you can create some nice wild bass sweeps/loops. This bass sounds really fat 1 octave lower. Also, play with that compressor, especially the release knob, I thought it sounded best at around 90ms but that's personal taste I guess. Thanks for this video, you rock!
I’ve been cutting off the slightest bit of some of my bass midi notes and haven’t really realized why other than “it sounds better.” The note about retriggering the phase on OSCs tied up some loose ends, thanks!
When you start the manipulation process, it's a whole different ball game, and only you know how much time it takes to get that particular sound. When you ask a listener what they think of the sound, they usually don't know what they're supposed to be listening for.
is there a reason why you did the EQ before the compressor at the end of the video? i always use one (technical EQ) before the compressor when i dont need sub and filter it out that the compressor gets the signal without lows, so it compress the rest of the signal tighter (as we know sub has most energy) after the compressor i add a musical EQ, after that i duplicate the channel, remove everything except of the LFO2 you used on this bass and make a clean sine sub wich i saturate with tape saturation, i never mix the Sub inside the Bass Bus Channel because the saturation and compression whats going on inside the Buss will fuck up the Sub layer. i just use a little bit of limiting on the sub to keep it consistant in loudness you do a great job :)
interesting stuff with 3 voice reecing system (or just making sure theres a centered voice when adding them together in an osc) Cheers bro il be remembering that one :)
Not a huge deal, because it's an awesome tutorial so far. But there seems to be a problem with the sound quality. When you hear the pure saw wave, there are some compression artifacts. Maybe you could try to remove that? Otherwise thanks for great content as always!
Yes I know don't know what caused it but didn't want to record the video again. The information is still there so I will try to fix it with the next video. It's no big deal right now.
You're a god.
that lfo curve tip around 9 minutes was super helpful
Straight to the point, without needlessly frontloaded self-promotion - thanks!
Wicked tutorial man, definitely the best one I've seen regarding sound design in serum
Thanks a lot!
Just the sound I am looking for at the moment! Cheers ARTFX, I can’t wait to start making this.
Damn you're quick! Thanks hahaha 😀
ARTFX got you on my notifications man! I fucking love your tutorials.

4 yrs later. still a banger of a video
This is the best sound design tutorial I’ve ever seen holy shit
Good stuff thanks. Glad to see someone else that loves a bit of diode distortion.

Been watching your videos over the last couple years, and they never disappoint. Especially these 20-25 minute videos. Keep it up dude!
I learned a lot watching this, it was very helpful to watch you make it from scratch and tweak the different settings.
No words. This is just perfect

Nice man, thanks, i learned a lot. one step closer to neurofunk :D
That's a dope as fuck demo at the start, well done.
thank you for these in depth tutorials. i've been binging all of your stuff for the past couple days. top class content.
Yes mate, this is a nice bass love it finally worked out how to get notifications everytime you upload. I've got some serious catching up to do by the look of it
Thanks for this tutorial.
This is actually a really solid tutorial. This method is super fun when you create your own wavetables.

Damn toen je die notch filter gebruikte... Direct inspiratie!!! Direct die Phace en Noisia sound :) Ga zo door! Great channel!
Amazing job, learned a lot, thanks mate!
Learned a lot from this video fr
Dude thank you so much!! i learned so much and created a sick ass patch!
Would love to see more of these!
Please make more like this!
awesome man
This is a very good tutorial man, thanks a lot !
I’ve been cutting off the slightest bit of some of my bass midi notes and haven’t really realized why other than “it sounds better.” The note about retriggering the phase on OSCs tied up some loose ends, thanks!
Thanks for the upload man. :) great insight and knowledge.
really digging this one man!!!
Making tentacles bass ,yeah?)
18:53 Threshold down increases the amount of signal that is compressed, not Threshold up.
This is godly, dude!!
really awesome tut bruv
Zieke video man!
bomb ass tut

you do a great job :)
pro tip i learned from this video use odd numbers of unison voices to avoid phase cancellation issues!
thank you for this tutorial so cool
this sick
like all synth tutorial i missed half of it, but it was still sick!
@12:07 the dog approves the workflow!!!
interesting stuff with 3 voice reecing system (or just making sure theres a centered voice when adding them together in an osc) Cheers bro il be remembering that one :)
Lovely, but as previously mentioned, there are some artifacts in your recording.
Your advanced sound design deserves better
Yeah noticed it after I recorded the video, will try to fix it in the next video.
If u keep everything below -2,5 dB true peak, everything will sound fine. Thats an recomendation for youtube mastering ;) cheers! ;)
@Hugh Jones was hoping someone commented that haha
greatgraspof this sound.
thanks a lot
thanks, very helpul
you are a fucking champ
you know hes a producer when hes shakimg his head to saw wave 😂😂
very helpful, cheers
Yo so the multband comp doesn't let me drag the low and high freq?
What do you think about Inward, Hanzo & Randie?
Luuuuuuuuuuv dat iiiiiiiiishhhhhhhhh !
Some tips how to get better in sound design and overall knowledge in it? I mean something like book so i know what does what :D
Yo how’d you get the black/green theme goin on on ableton??
Real good
Very cool mate ;)
Thanks for this video man, you're a G !! You could rename it how to do bass like Monty - set the swing ;)

Or as likely, his recording software. There are many good-sounding videos on RUclips, so I think there's reason to try and improve :D
Yes I know don't know what caused it but didn't want to record the video again. The information is still there so I will try to fix it with the next video. It's no big deal right now.
@@artfxdnb it was never a big deal anyway. The cheek of him to nit pick at such a minor detail.
sounds cool but, to really sound Noisia like needs far more rhythm an contrast to it, a little bit of harmonics or FM mod through LFO
you re a real god )
I cant seem to control the low end on the Mulitband EQ in the Compressor.
Thanks Ä lot!
What is serum is there a free alternative or something i could use?
you can rent it from splice for 10 dollars a month
12:12 Back from shushing the dog?
get me to this preset pls :)
I thought you were James Bay
what is this program? (not serum)
Ableton Suite 10
Turns on soft clipping, track was never clipping. 🧐🧐🧐
I want to click the "like" button, but it currently shows 1337 likes, so I can't :-(
