Here's an idea: Safety Green (Color of your RUclips Logo). Then get some custom Andy's Hobby Headquarters decals. Add one "Emergency Tank Recovery" to the side. Put your true phone numbers on the decals.
It's been a dream of mine to build one of these massive Tamiya big rig RCs since I was a kid in the 80s. Just looked up the price... that is one dream that is going to keep on living in my head. WOW.
I've built the Grand Hauler and use it to haul the Pole Trailer and Flatbed Trailer. I've modded the pole trailer with a 3d printed hitch and built up a 3d printed converter dolly to run both trailers as a double combination. These are as much fun to mod as they are to run.
I’d like to see it in some kind of two tone painting. Like the bright green from your logo here on RUclips and the greyblue from the intro where you are standing on the tank. You should definitely add the figure from your intro as a logo on the truck together with something like „Andy’s towing“. Have fun!
I'm normally an AFV modeler and never tried anything else but this kit has me really interested. I am looking forward to your build Andy. From what I can see of the comments so far green is a popular choice and I whole-heartedly agree with that. Keep up the great work. So looking forward to this!!!
Oh nice an RC truck! I've got a Globe Liner project going and...well, lemme just say this: Tamiya semi trucks go together so nice you just shake the box and wait a few hours.
Hi Andy what a great video that's a cool tow truck by Tamia I built a Tamiya 1/14 scale Grand hauler and it was fun to put together everything was precise everything fit very well in fact I still have it
I always liked the LEGO Octan color scheme, White with Red and Green stripes. I think it would work well on this towtruck. Another could be Green all the way, the White/Red warning signs will stand out nicely then.
Red with big orange horizontal chevrons on the side.. And the chevrons with shadow on.. ie black edge under the chevron to look like a shadow.. Make it stand out I have made other tamiya trucks and trailers and they are terrific.. Great detail.. I have been waiting for this wrecker.. Great stuff
Yellow body with blue trim and logos (Andy’s HHQ yellow and blue that is). Has got to say Andy’s Towing Service on it no matter what though! As an R/C guy I’m very excited to see this build!
Something with an American flag or American high flying eagle on a silver base, and for sure Andy written somewhere in gradient blue/white/red. Have fun with this huge one!
Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline (read any Tim Wolfe?) - Red too much like a fire truck - and yellow - boating Second choice would be metallic blue - goes great with chrome. Stay away from any greens - you do plenty of greens with armor.
If it were mine, I would spray it with Tamiya transparent red over a fine gold base.. then some gold stripes and lettering.. and gold rims. I just love the combination of dark metallic red and gold accents. :)
I built the king hauler kit, it was great. Just watch out on the transmission, my slips a lot. I'm planning on building the grand hauler with a shapeways cab.
I built the King Hauler with the MFU and the automatic 5th wheel, automatic trailer legs, lighting kits, the works. It looks to me like you have the 27mhz controller, if that's true, you'll need to be crazy careful with your wiring as interference with the controller can be a big issue. I'd suggest some threadlock on the metal on metal parts because of the vibrations which can be quite pronounced.
Hi Andy the truck looks good I built a couple of rigs myself, electric blue looks good just a couple of top tips use rollers bearings and do not use the vibration unit it shakes the rig to pieces in time looking forward for the build j
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters If it doesn't have the ability to turn off and on out of the box you could add your own switch in series with the Vibration circuit. Very simple and economical to do and tons of switch options, push button, toggle, hidden reed switches, etc.
Orange. Most photos on-line show yellow versions, some red and one very nice sky blue one. There are several two-tone schemes mainly red/yellow. Orange is good. But w Adobe photoshop one can explore more colours..
id say the red or perhaps white, here in the uk we use those often in white, then you can use the red decals for the side lettering, the red would be good as it would be similar to the trucks from norway
I'd go for (very) dark green or dark blue with orange decals, but given that it's a tow truck and needs to be seen, maybe the other way round would suit it better.🙂
I'd suggest straight out of the box Andy, but add additional accents with scroll work and/or pinstripe decals and your youtube logo. Anyway, it's your model and whatever you choose will be great! Cheers.
I thought orange would be a interesting color on the vehicle, but I do agree with everyone on painting same colors as your RUclips logo that would pop out a lot.
That is a hell of a lot of plastic! Good luck building it maybe you should turn the build into a three part one? As for the color maybe a medium blue with light blue trim and Andy,s Towing on the door of the cab.
Make sure you have RC grease for the axles and transmission. Do some research and learn how to lock the rear axles using the displaced gear method. If you get it done in 2 videos that will be amazing.
Red with 50’s style lettering that says Andy’s Towing Services
Here's an idea: Safety Green (Color of your RUclips Logo). Then get some custom Andy's Hobby Headquarters decals. Add one "Emergency Tank Recovery" to the side. Put your true phone numbers on the decals.
Lime green with blue detailing - like your avatar
That would be cool ,thank you.
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters I agree, neon green and blue.
I really like this idea!!
Yep, this!
When kits start requiring suitcase handles, you know the end is near.
Gundam PG has handles.
I would say a brilliant blue with your logo in white.
Like some have suggested, lime green and blue from your logo/avatar. AND have some custom decals made with "Andy's Towing Headquarters".
Orange with Black Trim...
That is quite an involved Kit!! The photo etched Grille is a nice piece too.
It's been a dream of mine to build one of these massive Tamiya big rig RCs since I was a kid in the 80s. Just looked up the price... that is one dream that is going to keep on living in my head. WOW.
I think it would look awesome red and black with the chrome bits

Arizona sunset colors. The most beautiful sunset I have seen was in Arizona.

purple with glitters, golden stripes on the edges and your logo with flames. Andy rules!!! Enjoy, Alessandro
Oh nice an RC truck! I've got a Globe Liner project going and...well, lemme just say this:

Oh gosh Andy, i am so glad you know what youre doing, too many parts to remember. I think the yellow would be great. Take care and be safe
Hi Andy what a great video that's a cool tow truck by Tamia I built a Tamiya 1/14 scale Grand hauler and it was fun to put together everything was precise everything fit very well in fact I still have it
A brilliant blue color and white. Andy's Towing decals.
Euro style safety green and white print your own decals for Andy's heavy wrecking
I always liked the LEGO Octan color scheme, White with Red and Green stripes. I think it would work well on this towtruck.
Another could be Green all the way, the White/Red warning signs will stand out nicely then.
What a beast !!!!
Fantastic preview Andy
Paint it Red!!!!
Very awesome Andy
Thank you !!!
Red with big orange horizontal chevrons on the side.. And the chevrons with shadow on.. ie black edge under the chevron to look like a shadow.. Make it stand out
I have made other tamiya trucks and trailers and they are terrific.. Great detail.. I have been waiting for this wrecker.. Great stuff
I like the orange & silver. I googled Volvo FH16 and there are a ton of choices. You can't go wrong with any of the other suggestions.
Yellow body with blue trim and logos (Andy’s HHQ yellow and blue that is). Has got to say Andy’s Towing Service on it no matter what though! As an R/C guy I’m very excited to see this build!
For the color - black and orange. Like black base paint and bright orange marks and signs and so on.
This is going to be an awesome build, colour, yellow or as Ross said below!
Something with an American flag or American high flying eagle on a silver base, and for sure Andy written somewhere in gradient blue/white/red. Have fun with this huge one!
Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline (read any Tim Wolfe?) - Red too much like a fire truck - and yellow - boating

Black with lime green accents!
Go for green and blue, like the channel logo. Nice video!
If it were mine, I would spray it with Tamiya transparent red over a fine gold base.. then some gold stripes and lettering.. and gold rims. I just love the combination of dark metallic red and gold accents. :)
Just done 4 tamiya RC cars myself over the past 3 months loved every one . Yellow must be yellow
Wow! What a kit !
Can't wait to see that monster built and running. 😀

Looking forward to the build video(s)! Not going to do one myself, WAY out of my price range!
Check the information on the side of the box, the leads for the rear lights need to be replaced or modified 👍
Gloss black with lots of chrome and gold lettering
Million comments, million opinions. IMHO... orange... And definitely with Andy's HH custom decals.
Andy, this has to be one of my favorite builds. Looking forward to seeing the project. Yellow with black highlights.
Hi Andy the truck looks good I built a couple of rigs myself, electric blue looks good just a couple of top tips use rollers bearings and do not use the vibration unit it shakes the rig to pieces in time looking forward for the build j
Thanks for the tip, is it possible to turn off vibration unit if i install?
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters If it doesn't have the ability to turn off and on out of the box you could add your own switch in series with the Vibration circuit. Very simple and economical to do and tons of switch options, push button, toggle, hidden reed switches, etc.
just unplug it that simple
Cant wait for the full build and painting
Something predominantly lime green with the Andy's markings
Sunflower yellow. Will really Pop!
Red, but the orange hue sounds interesting too!! Cant wait to watch this one
Orange. Most photos on-line show yellow versions, some red and one very nice sky blue one. There are several two-tone schemes mainly red/yellow. Orange is good. But w Adobe photoshop one can explore more colours..
I would do red, would make it look a lot better. And I agree with doing lettering that says Andy's Towing Services.

Tamiya lime green gloss with a few drops of tamiya gold leaf
Bright Lime Yellow like a modern Fire Truck.
Yellow with black fenders. White for that separate roof of the cab.
I think a fan pattern air brush will be in order to someting that big. And Yellow.
Chrome yellow with jade green seaweed style flames.
Metallic Red With yellow Andy's Hobbies haulage on the sides
Royal Blue from tamiya
I could get behind Blue. Prefer the Yellow, but anything but Red. Red just wouldn't look right for this.
Bright green like your logo, make up custom decals with the blue shop logo
Yellow looks great Andy.
Metallic purple to make the colour 'pop'!
Also the truck color id do a nice blackish blue gloss paint
Great video Andy as always love the truck..i think red would look killa..
Black with your logo on andy's headquarters in gold Steve 🇬🇧
I'd go for (very) dark green or dark blue with orange decals, but given that it's a tow truck and needs to be seen, maybe the other way round would suit it better.🙂
It nees to be Andy's Hobby Lime Green. Your blue logo with picture of your intro assembled tank on the front rad grille.
The yellow that’s shown on the box!
For thinning paint will water work the same way
I'd suggest straight out of the box Andy, but add additional accents with scroll work and/or pinstripe decals and your youtube logo. Anyway, it's your model and whatever you choose will be great! Cheers.
I’m doing mine the Chrome Yellow. It would be interesting to see one in a bright red.
I thought orange would be a interesting color on the vehicle, but I do agree with everyone on painting same colors as your RUclips logo that would pop out a lot.
Red will be a nice colors on your truck!
Hello I was wondering is there any more add on to the fh16 apart from the actuater
This is going to be awesome! Can’t wait!
Blue with andy's Towing Services
Hi Andy, thanks for another great review, I would say Black with silver lettering, keep safe and well.
Yellow and Egyptian blue just like your youtube logo colors.
Maby you should make it navy blue like your shirt and have YOUR logo in white on the side
Not a bad idea thanks
This is exactly what I thought when the question was proposed.
Blue with a yellow stripe!
Orange with shiny chromes.
stobart green with gold retro lettering as ross asked for !!! itll look proper lol
Bright hunter orange for the paint color
Red with white pin-striping, with Andy's Model Recovery on it ;)
Looking forward to see this coming together 👍🏻🇦🇺
That is a hell of a lot of plastic! Good luck building it maybe you should turn the build into a three part one? As for the color maybe a medium blue with light blue trim and Andy,s Towing on the door of the cab.
Would like to see Tamiya do a similar kit with a Kenworth T800, also must be full of chrome and working chicken lights.
Red with a yellow tow boom
By the way, Andy your mail order business was a great idea. Because people want to buy from you and not all of us can get out to Arizona.
whats the link for mail order please
My last name is Hall, so I think it's a sign that I should by this kit, lol! Great reviews as always Andy!
Lime / yellow combo Andy’s Towing Service
I vote turquoise for the color. Thank for you ☺ Andy, i just love it 😉
Make sure you have RC grease for the axles and transmission. Do some research and learn how to lock the rear axles using the displaced gear method. If you get it done in 2 videos that will be amazing.
GREAT thank you for the advice
Black with gold detailing.
Superb kit to build Andy. How about all black with two bright yellow stripes, front to back. 😊👍🏻
Red, for sure!
You need to carry Tamiya RC Models on your website!
Orange is my vote!
Orange for sure!
Yellow with flames
Which radio set are you using with this tow truck
I think a red like a red Ferrari will be great!
Bright orange
Got to be your youtube logo colours with all that chrome ( bling ) it's just a thought though, wait for more replies.
