He was debuted that times. He was debuted 6th July of 2016 with Nct 127- Fire Truck or maybe earlier but I know he was in Fire truck song. And this show was in 31th August of 2016.
so this guy nikolai does speak fluently but no one would ever mistake him for being Japanese if he were to talk on the phone. his sentence structure, his pronunciation, his intonation all sound very foreign. Don't get me wrong, he speaks well and he should be proud of his achievements, but if the whole point of the show is language, it should be said when someone doesn't sound natural.
+Satopi3104 it's natural to have some sort of accent since he's a foreigner and Japanese is not his native language. It's kinda different if they say that he's fluent even if he makes a lot of mistakes in grammar or pronunciation. Did he make a lot of mistakes? Did he keep it basic or did he make a complex sentence with one/two bad pronunciation?
The point of the show isn't language:) They mostly have Korean guests lol. And usually things like this are the fun opening parts but in reality usually they debate and share thing about their own countries etc
Sorry this is SO late, but his big issue was pronunciation and smaller, subtler grammatical issues. The way he said "host family" is not at all close to how a Japanese person would say it, and the way he inflects the end of this subphrases doesn't sound Japanese. It's a bit too short of a gap between the end of his subphrase and the start of his next subphrase, and he doesn't change his tone either (Japanese tend to raise it and stretch out the sound to signify the break). I hear his accent with a lot with native speakers of european languages. He also said "oneesan wa kodoma ga dekita" but it should be "oneesan ga kodoma ga dekita". It's a subtle difference but a mistake a Japanese person would never make. It's similar to someone saying "she had a baby" to "she had the baby" - the two are not interchangeable. Also, he ends with "ai ni ittekita" and maybe adds "yo", but in either case, that just sounds... awkward. Like, too declarative. A native speaker would have said "ai ni ittekitanda." Hope that answers your question.
+Satopi3104 Good God it is not his native language and I still find it pretty impressive that he does understand Japanese and can speak, no matter how. Do you know how difficult it is to speak a different language ? Especially an asian language for a european.
Lol why do Koreans love grouping all “foreigners” together? The “foreigner” accent they were talking about was literally just the typical American accent. Oh look, that’s just one country! I wonder how the other 193 countries would pronounce hajimemashite? Edit: for anyone who wants to reply, please take a look at my own replies and interactions with others under this comment before doing so. I’m tired of explaining and repeating the same thing again and again. Thank you
American media and culture is always at the forefront of most people's minds. America is one unified country with half the population of a tiny land area comprised of tens of different countries and a multitude of still-developing nations (europe). America is 360 million, while the WHOLE OF EUROPE only has twice that. It is much easier, considering both the availability and representation heuristic to call to mind American speakers, visitors, tourists, etc than it is to distinctly recall a German tourist, a Latvian tourist, or a Chadian tourist.
Exactly, that annoying guy whos always on variety shows who went "well I heard...." is showing he's ignorant and dependent upon stereotypes without doing his research. Nikolai didn't sound anything like what he was describing either, it was ridiculous as if he denied what just happened in front of him even after Yuta told him his accent was perfect. Unfortunately a lot of Koreans do the same thing
@@zoecooke4082 And as a result, they become ignorant and create inaccurate, often negative, images of people from other countries/nations because they're lazy. They just do what's convenient for them at the expense of other cultures' right to be respected. Also, when citizens of East Asian countries talk about Americans, they often just mean white people. So it's another annoying act they do, as well as contradictory, to think of white people when referring to Americans while also grouping all foreigners together but describing Americans.
@@soobinhowcanyounotlovekai7725 it's not malicious. I personally can't parse out every individual southeastern asian culture and language, so I refer to someone as "Asian".
this is like 4 years old so idk why its being recommended now but im still seeing people talking about his pronunciation so as a japanese speaker (not a japanese person) id like to clarify that his intonation is perfect and pronunciation is almost perfect (the pronunciation of the japanese 'r' sound sticks out). what makes him seem more foreign is probably the tone of his voice - usually you dont hear that sort of nasality with japanese speakers such as in 0:32 when he says だけど (dakedo). if i heard him irl i would probably be able to tell that hes a foreigner in the same way that jaehyun speaks english fluently albeit with the occasional foreign sounding american pronunciation if that makes sense
