Puede ba can be translated to "may I' or " can I". And you can respond to it by saying "puede" which means "can be /yes" and "Puedeng-puede" which means "surely, you can".

Viktoria is the Original singer of PUEDE BA (1999) and she is a 90's singer that is why you said this is like a 70's 80's song. Hope you could check also the original one.
What's amazing is she is very very very down to earth person. Just the way she talks, you'll know how down to earth she is.
This is a revival from the 90s and Victoria/Vanna Vanna was the original singer.

a bit of a correction, as stated in the credits. rox santos produced this version but it was written and composed by viktoria who also sang and produced the video in 1999. if he wrote it as you said, he would've been only 14.
Maymay did not just give justice to Viktoria's song. She gave it a little spice to the original song by Viktoria which is also a big hit during the '90s

It makes me think that it's a play on hey name as well May (I) May (I)....translated to tagalog it becomes catchy. 'Yes' and 'No' is Oo(Oh-oh) ang Hindi(like the language, yes but said a bit faster with an abrupt stop in the end). 'Po' is added for familiarity and respect when talking to acquaintances and people older than you. Alternatively, OO becomes 'Opo' for added seriousness and respect.aside from that, you can just add 'PO' in the middle or end of the phrase.

That’s why Filipinos like me who studied Spanish became so confused because we’re using Spanish words in our daily conversion but when its meaning amd usage os totally different from what it means in Spanish language. Like same words (or sometimes there’s a tweak on the spelling) but the usage is different.
