Fawful's character is really tragic and generally well thought-out. The servant to Cackletta which was nothing more than a tool eventually tried to rise to power that would maybe even topple Cackletta. However, a fatal mistake in his plan led to his utter defeat. Fast-forward (Get it?) to Partners in Time, and we can come across Fawful, but only as the babies. He hides down in the Mushroom Kingdom sewers, trying to be a humble trader (weird place to do so), but seeing the babies in red and green sets off Fawful. He goes on a long rant, screaming about how much "fury" he has towards Mario and Luigi, eventually falling over and realizing the insanity in his actions, apologizes, and begins to trade with you. What we can see here is that Fawful suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder because of the events that transpired in Superstar Saga. Then to Bowser's Inside Story, where Fawful has become the main antagonist, and one of the first to get so close to conquering the Mushroom Kingdom. Of course, he put his money on a copy of Bowser, which, once again, led to his downfall. And even as he lay defeated, Fawful causes himself to explode in a final last-ditch effort to destroy the bros. As Fawful put it, he put in the time, got his hands dirty, and gave it his all. But in the end, Fawful had it coming. He was a real evil bastard. Do I feel sorry for him? No. Do I feel his character arc is awesome yet tragic? Yes. And that's why I love Fawful. They should make him a Smash Bros. character in my opinion.
So many characters in any Mario game has barely any character development. But, Fawful he's not like any character in the Mario universe. His character is extremely unique and he makes the Mario and Luigi games quite more interesting. He deserves to be more recognized honestly!
Thomas D. Bowser's minions sidequest hints the fact fawful was gonna over through cackletta, he was building mechawfuls under Bowser castle which also eggplants how they got to the mushroom kingdom so fast, he was going to wait until she got full power and assinate her most likely or overthrow her with his Mechawful army he was building right under cackletta's nose
Say what you want but Fawful will always be the best mario villain in existence Started out as a little servant working for a witch and ended as the most insane genius who exploded after his final failure
He was a good villain, but no a good character. To be a great villain he'd have to cut off the annoying/unfunny dialogue and have a more appealing design imo
@@MoonGhostDoodles the third view perspective he is using whilr talking about himself is pretty cool though. None of his dialogues were long nor annoying
@@noysam3570 Yeah, the third person dialogue kinda represents how far gone he is compared to when we first met him in Superstar Saga, where he barely said anything in third person
This captures the true essence that Yoko Shimmora was going for! Dark, ominous, mysterious, yet somewhat subtle in some ways like you know its the finale but you feel confident that you can take Fawful down!
I think it would have been cool if there was a secret room in the castle. The entire room would be littered with many things related to Cackletta. In the center of the room would be a plaque with a statue of her face on top of it. It would read "Though defeated you may be your plans have not been forgotten and your followers still live. In the end what you started shall be finished. I will see to that personally." Bowser would be like "Man whoever made this weird shrine has issues." after he reads it.
Although I would have liked it, that wouldn't really make sense for Fawful. If you think about it in Superstar Saga he realized how powerful he is without Cackletta and how she relied on him. Even in Partners in Time he says HE terrorized a neighboring kingdom and he never once mentions Cackletta. Still would've been cool though.
Yes, but that still would have gone against his character development. Although this is long, read this comment from Envy May on another video where they are talking about like this. This explains it very well. In my opinion, that would ruin his character development. I personally believe that Cackletta was a terrible guardian, and Fawful only stuck with her because of his inferiority complex, so he wouldn't be doing anything for her. His inferiority complex likely originated from possible abusive tendencies on Cackletta's behalf in the first place, judging by the kind of character she has canonically shown herself to be. SPOILER ALERT FOR THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY There's a bit before Fawful's boss fight in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga when he realises how Cackletta's been using him for her own personal gain and he gets close to betraying her before Luigi whacks him out of the flying castle. You later find him in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time running a shop in the sewers of Princess Peach's castle. Since Cackletta died, he's become mentally ill (possible schizophrenic) and has random anger attacks. In other words, he's really suffering. When he vents his entire story to the babies, he makes not a single mention of Cackletta. Not even a hint. Note how he's started speaking in the third person; he didn't do that in the first game. Skip forwards to Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. He's finally learned to control his anger issues (note how he says "I HAVE CHORTLES!" instead of "I HAVE FURY!") and he has formulated an ingenious plan to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, and he succeeds with the help of a toady, Midbus. He's calm and collected, but his childish side shows when he hosts the Fawful Show and dances about on-stage, giggling and grinning as his brainwashed audience cheers him on to boost his ego. He uses things like this to cover up his inferiority complex, also filling the Mushroom Kingdom with monsters, machines and statues that look like himself, but none of it is enough. So he turns to the Dark Star, a powerful artefact that he ultimately doesn't need. However, towards the end of the game, his true colours show again. He grows vulnerable, and increasingly more insane, especially with Midbus' freezing. Bowser and the Mario Bros. bring out the worst in him, and his rage builds (note how he goes back to old insults: "Fawful says farewell to all your fink-rat faces forever!" and mentions 'fury': "Your meddling has made Fawful have a fury large as the world!") until it leads to his downfall at the hands of Bowser. (Side note: I really like how they play a snippet of Cackletta's theme in this song, showing how she has shaped the person he has become.) In his final moments, Fawful is a sad, broken child with years of pent-up rage towards the two plumbers who have just defeated him within the body of the one who took his empire from him. In a last-ditch effort to make up for the way he feels, he explodes with the intention of taking his most hated enemies with him, but he probably knew beforehand that it would fail by sheer common sense. So in a way, Fawful's story is really a tragic one, and avenging Cackletta is the last thing he wants to do. In a way, I think he's kind of having his revenge on Cackletta for all the things she probably did to him. TL;DR In my opinion, Fawful has anger issues, schizophrenia and an inferiority complex, all of them effectively induced by Cackletta. He hates Cackletta, the Mario Bros. and Bowser and in his tragic story he never got his revenge on any of them, but rather died a broken boy with nothing to his name but his smashed glasses and blobby head. In the moments leading up to his battle with Bowser, he was already long gone and it's mostly Cackletta's fault. If there was a cutscene like that, it would ruin Fawful's arc for anyone who shares this opinion.
@@Brodie-np4te Alphadream is dead, but the Mario & Luigi saga belongs to Nintendo, they may do other game in the future, but it's definitely the end of an era...
This is one of the greatest, if not the best best final area theme I have ever heard. This ultimate theme has it all: Intensity, sadness, even hopeful sparks. You can just feel the weight of this theme, that the finale is just ahead and everything is at stake, the final conclusion and revelation near. Mario sure has come a long way.
This is the kind of music I'd expect to hear if I was inside my head. Dark, Hollow and sometimes Depressing. But also epic and big. Which is partly why I have a great imagination.
Thanks.... I'd put this music in a scenario where someone takes over the world, and then me and my friends form a massive resistance movement and start a revolution. This music would play as we sneak through the halls of the World Dictator's Base/Castle/Lair. I just love coming up with these scenarios! I hope to make video games in the future, and my imagination will really help ;)
By the way, when I play any dark/epic music, I also imagine crazy and hectic scenarios in my brain. That's what I love about these dark songs, they bring out so much creavity and emotions in your brain and makes you go through deeper in your mind... and you just think. And listen, having a great source imagination is already a great step for making games. You need that! It is something that not a lot of people have, so don't take that talent for granted. Keep following that dream you have and work hard to make it! :)
I've got it! In a Mario-Zelda crossover, in Peach's Castle (which the villains had taken over) just after betraying Ganondorf and killing him, Bowser shrouds the two Nintendo worlds in darkness, preparing to conquer them. Peach and Zelda escape from the top of Bowser's Tower, and find Mario and Link. All 4 of them march through the desolate halls of Peach's former castle, fighting the TOUGHEST enemy's in the game. Mario sees Luigi being tortured by Emperor Bowser (his new title) Link sees one of his friends die right in front of him. As Mario, Link, Peach and Zelda (The Breath of the Wild Link and Zelda to be exact) prepare to risk their lives to save everyone they know and love. Because IF THEY FAIL..... EVERYTHING they stood for and knew, would be lost FOREVER. This Music fits perfectly.
This better be the Deep Castle song for the remake. Its too great for it NOT to be, just everything about it makes it perfect. The Bowsers Castle from Superstar Saga (remake) was really good...so this would fit perfect like the Bowser Castle theme.
