Mary's voice actress actually got emotional reading the letter at the end, and that really shines through with her amazing performance. One of the best performances in the industry honestly. SH2 is an extremely emotionally resonant game, and I can't wait to experience the remake's take on everything. I've been liking what I've seen so far.
I am genuinely so impressed by your foresight. Many of the realisations you made in the room where you meet Angela are extremely accurate. I am also someone who enjoys analysing while playing a game, but I am definitely not as naturally able to find these connections. This is a very enjoyable video to watch. Thank you. Also thank you for not cutting the “boring” parts out. That is quite subjective and sometimes I feel like I’m missing interesting parts of a let’s play because the creator decided to cut some parts out entirely.
I am 40 years old. The first time I played this game was back in high school. I had never had a game move me so much as well as chill me to the bone. (except maybe silent hill 1 a few years prior) It's always nice to see someone younger enjoy these older masterpieces. It's a testament of how well they were made.
I just finished watching silent hill 1 gameplay and told myself it's time to study. However, I found the opposite: it's time to watch another silent hill gameplay! I love the way you enjoy the gameplay, the story, the art, the design, and the humor. Greetings from Argentina!
Hope you’re able to experience it first hand for yourself one day!! It hits different when you’re actually playing! If you have a PC, you can play the Enhanced version which is the ULTIMATE way to play it aside from the upcoming remake. All OG SH games are considered “abandonware” now so you’re gtg (in a legally grey area lol) to find all of them by 🏴☠️ means 😂
@@ArashiKageTaro I have a sweet relationship with Silent Hill. I bought the first one when I was 10, but I was so scared I couldn’t even leave the cafeteria haha. I ended up trading it for motoracer 2. Then at 14, I bought it again, and it became my favorite game. I also played the second and fourth ones, and I still have the third one left. Just yesterday, I tried it on a PS2 emulator, and it was running perfectly, so it won’t be long before I play it.
I do appreciate it when players and streamers don't just play through a game but also share their thoughts on the gameplay and story and provide a review of the game they have played.
My birthday came 2 months early!! Thank you Maggie!! I was on Twitch watching you back when you first played SH2 2 years ago. But, as you know, streaming makes it hard to focus. So glad to be able to see you give it your full attention. You’re on a roll with these vids. Silent hill and final fantasy are my favorite franchises.
Cool story about the footsteps, for James, they made around 100 unique footsteps so they always had a large amount for each kind of surface he walked on. It really comes out when you have the long walking sections like in the intro and the historical society.
44:26 You are pretty accurate saying his outfit looks military. The character design of James Sunderland was inspired by the character Jacob in the 1990s horror film Jacob's Ladder, which was a big inspiration for the Silent Hill series. The main character is a Vietnam war veteran and he wears the classic M65 field jacket just like James.
It's October, exactly, it's Silent Hill season. I relive them each year, I'm beyond ecstatic for the remake looking done correctly, and this is the first video on this channel I will have seen. You have my subscription for sure! Edit: If you haven't yet uploaded playthroughs of them (i apologize if you have, like I mentioned, just discovered the channel now), SH 3 and 4 are also worth it. 1-4 are all very much their own experiences, and all have different appeal and varying crossover themes. 2 and 4 are, to me, the most psychologically stimulating.
Instantly jumped on this SH train again with you! But please, I hope the staple "stomp/kick" engrains itself in your memory; It will help you in every single game.
You know, I didn't think you could possibly top the 11 hour Silent Hil video but then you go and drop this absolute beast on us? I don't think I have any words to describe this. This is unbelievable and you're just incredible for doing this. Cheers Maggie. Keep on being awesome.
Your 'mmmmm' sound reminds me of Betty Gilpin from the movie The Hunt and it makes me smile every time. I've enjoyed your playthroughs thus far. Only have watched Chris for RE director's cut and then Silent Hill 1 & 2. Looking forward to more!
This is exactly what i did when i played this game.."run away from the bloody tracks" " i check everything" i see myself lol. Love the different emotions!
5:33:37 "How many hits does it take?" 3 jabs, followed by a stomp. If it squirms on the floor it restores health. Also, watching this makes me think James might be a serial killer.
Just finished your playthrough of Silent Hill 1, and I almost started a playthrough of Silent Hill 2 on another channel. Enjoy your content. Just finished the full video, and I really enjoyed the video. Takes me back to when I'd watch my older brother play the Silent Hill games as a kid. The one I remember most is 4. Definitely couldn't forget watching him go through the school of the first Silent Hill, though. I'd have night terrors from that.
Finished both of your Silent Hill 1 and 2 playthroughs. Silent Hill 2 ending hit me in the feels for sure. Its a more psychological game than Silent Hill 1. Good job.
As someone that never played the original, I'm playing the remake which just came out and it's so interesting watching you play this at the same time and seeing the differences.
I watched both this and the silent hill 1 videos and I enjoy what I see. But I get minor anxiety that you never stomp! 😂 Rule of thumb in silent hill, once an enemy is down, stomp it before it crawls away or get back up. That's an insta-kill that (if I remember correctly) will kill an enamy instantly even if it's not very hurt. You will not waste time, bullets and health drinks this way. If you can't stomp, then the enemy is really dead.
Just finished watching this, and wow.. I first played this when I was 10 years old (borrowed from a friends older brother), and while the game deeply disturbed me at the time, I really didn't pick up much about the plot or symbolism because I didn't really understand much English yet and I wouldn't have understood the themes anyway. I love how you really explore and analyse clues to figure out the lore and story. I spent so much time after playthrough #2 (when the HD collection came out) figuring out wtf was going on and what all the symbolism meant, and it's really fun to see you organically arrive at the answers in exactly the pace the developers intended. I was on the edge of my seat whenever I knew you were about to face pyramid head, especially on the hospital roof and when I heard the slightly slower water footsteps in the labyrinth tunnels, as he was approaching that corner. Literally screamed at my screen a couple of times during this, and that was definitely one of them 😂 Also, it was such a treat to me that you also didn't really figure out the power of the stomp mechanic. I only figured it out my second run and that kind of trivialized the combat for me. If you still don't know, the stomp basically insta-kills all the enemies in the game, meaning you pretty much just have to knock the enemies down once to dispatch them permanently. Because of that I never really used the great knife, so seeing it in so much use was awesome. Seriously, great video. Probably the best blind (ish) playthrough I've seen. It's such a breath of fresh air to not have a backseating chat telling you all the tricks and secrets. I noticed you recently dropped a born from a wish playthrough as well, so I'm heading there now. Please keep making these, love to watch them while I eat 😌 Thank you!
I'm starting this rn, and I love that you're playing these. It's 4 am rn, and dark along with it being Halloween month.. seems, perfect, I'm going to fall asleep to this ❤️ I love watching these and just putting you on, and having your energy emits through my house.
Choosing uniqueness over modernization~ Even if she plays the remake afterwards playing the OG first in order to compare the 2 is a really likeable move.👍
Imagine walking into a bank asking for a loan and they ask what your occupation is and you say “Protagonist.” Lmao “Get a load of this guy, Bill. He thinks he’s the main character.” 😂😂😂
Overall, something I took over a decade to really notice, is the other world is different for every protagonist. The otherworld produced by Alessa is filled with rust, charred surfaces, barbed wire. It is populated by things she fancied which she produces to protect her, and things she feared which her mother sends to get her. James's otherworld is filled with damp colors, browns, soaked walls, etc. It is filled with creaturss representing his emotions and his nine sins; with the exception of the abstract daddy/ideal fsther, which was his perception of one of Angela's monsters.
Thanks maggie for the great time i had watching you play. I just hope you read this so you understand all the characters in silent hill 2 are real people not imagination. whereas the psychological elements from james head are all the creepy elements happening to the town. Kay i ❤you!
I love that Maggie finds out at the prison section that she can stomp an enemy that falls to the floor, only to completely forget it 3 minutes later and goes back to bashing them 🤣 bless you, goldfish memory
I haven't watched the video yet so don't know if you mention it, but will you play Silent Hill 3? It's definitely its own game compared to 1 & 2, I call it "Grand Guignol" style (French style meaning lots of gore). Also, a comment you made in your Silent Hill 1 playthrough definitely leads me to believe Silent Hill 3 will have a strong story effect on you...
amazing playthrough, I really enjoyed all your comments and probably one thing you forgot to mention in the end is all the se xual imagery specially in the beginning, maybe representing the repression that they were having during the illness time and specially James' desires transformed into guilt for the hate that he developed, or maybe he cheated on her so those desires were deformed into the legs creatures and into the figure of Maria as a temptress. As for Laura, we don't see her again, but probably she wasn't experiencing any of the nightmares in Silent Hill because her being a child represents innocence so the curse of the town has no power over her, but still makes me wonder how she got there in the first place, so either she is real and is just a plot hole or she's also part of James' imagination. I hope one day you do a special finding all the endings or the good endings of SH and SH2, I think that would be a good idea for a livestream or another 12+ hours yt video :D
I could never play silent hill 2 in middle school because it was too scary. My friend and I would pass the controller back and forth saying "no you play it!" Im still too scared
i don't know if the ehanced will be good but you don't play it at this moment so it's just ridiculous to judge it now. The team seems to like a lot the original with a small budget. I'll try it and so i'll see if the game respect or not the original.
@@awake7586I think they meant the ps3 version that has new voice actors and more, which people do not like as it loses a lot of the charm from the original
I’m SO excited to see how Kastaclysm handles the psychological horror in Silent Hill 2! 🎮 This game is a total mind-bender with its deep story and eerie atmosphere-her reactions to James' journey and the insane twists will be epic! 😱👀 I can already picture her dissecting the symbolism and freaking out over Pyramid Head-this playthrough is going to be legendary! 🔥💀
From sh1 (likely year between 1986 (make and model of Harry's jeep) and shortly after 1991 at the latest, the year glocks were legally producing 15 round magazines for police/civilian use as before that the legal limit on handgun magazines was 10 shots) to sh2.. (1979 car, vietnam jacket except James is too young to have been in vietnam so likely his father's jacket. M9 handgun, specifically the Berretta m92s, (not fs), 10 round magazine standard which saw civilian use through the early 1980s and became the official US Army handgun in 1985. This is before the events of Harry, but likely during the time or just prior to when Alessa started suffering in the basement of Alchemilia hospital. We begin south of the amusement park that sh1 ended in, beyond the lake. The fog regularly sets upon the town during certain times of the year. Welcome back to Silent Hill.
4:01:36, holy shit, you got the whisper! The whisper doesn't always play here. Every playthrough its random weather the whisper sound effect happens or not.
I just finished watching your silent hill 1 playthrough. And found this Im excited to watch this. I hope you do the rest of the silent hills the 3rd game is suppose to be a direct sequel to the first one and I do believe it's harry daughter as the MC Silent hill 4: the room. Is the first silent hill I've played
I'm helping my girlfriend get through SH2 for the first time so she can experience it + we can get to playing the remake and comparing the 2 games together. The reviews are super great and I CANNOT WAIT 😭😭😭 You're so dope for going through the series this Halloween szn, Maggie. 👊🔥🔥🔥
Hey there Kasta, just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your playthroughs especially this one seeing as it is one of my personal favorites. Anyways I hope that you and Ginger are both doing alright and everything oh and before I forget I just wanted to recommend a few games to you Octodad dadliest catch and pumpkin jack. 😊
I like your take on the 'Hole, gone now' message, in the Heavens Nights bar you do get a hint that he did turn to alcohol but also that he believes he didn't need it anymore. A lot of different theories have been made on the hole message but being found in a bar does help your theory.
My favorite part is when you are with the buster sword smashing every monsters head and wondering if you can use this formidable weapon against the pyramid head, and as soon he appears you panicked like everyone's else and run away. 😁
1:11:23, fun fact, if you listen to the radio closely you can hear her say "why did you kill me"? they straight up tell you the twist right at the start and we didn't even notice.
...this video is literally a full playthrough. Anyone watching this will have either already played the game, or been spoiled by watching the video anyway. I'm also not a "bro". Please don't assume everyone on the Internet is a man.
oh shit I scrolled through your videos because I saw your silent Hill one playthrough, I left a comment on that one wondering if you would play silent Hill 2 because I didn't notice this. looking forward to watching 👍👍
Woah... I was so close for being 14 hours!! Well You already know what I got planned for this upcoming week!!! Keep up the fantastic work Maggie and as well as the Editor in chief ... Also great Costume Kasta.. for spooktober day 2.... Creep factor 101...
Just a tip: You can kick the monsters when they are on the floor to finish them( just release the hit button a second to let james change position and then press the hit button again)
"This water bottle goes to church with me." Same problem. I even get a little afraid of what people will think about my Mothman sticker. It looks a little too creepy. Also, the whispering in room 209 of the apartments is a random thing that can happen. I'm not sure what percent chance there is it will happen but it doesn't happen for everyone on every playthrough.
Awesome your playing Silent Hill 2 this going to be a great Friday October 14th is my birthday and this is really great to be watching it here on a nice Friday afternoon. You and Ginger have a blessed and beautiful weekend thanks my friends.💓🧆🐈:).
So for anyone curious and that didn’t fully understood, I’ll try to explain it: The whole concept of the town of Silent Hill in this game is that the place is a literal physical manifestation for EVERY person who walks in. The things that each character see during their presence in the town are ONLY VISIBLE by the person itself. All of creatures, the nurses monsters and even Pyramid Head, are all a physical manifestation of James’s guilt, as a way to torment him for killing his own wife, and also as a sort of test for him to came to terms with himself and accept what he’s done. As for the others characters, Silent Hill treats them completely different. Ever wondered why Laura always sounded so confused and even annoyed when James told her that the town was dangerous and full of monsters? The answer is simple: They don’t exist for her. She can’t see them, or anything like that at all, because she hasn’t done anything wrong or terrible to be tested by the place. For her, it’s just a ghost town invaded by fog. As for people like Eddie or Angela, they are not welcome very gently, as each of them have to deal with what they get to see as their own guilt for their past. Angela, for example, what she sees in Silent Hill is just about as what we as players saw: Fire. Literal flames, everywhere, all time. Because that is how she feels her life always has been. The reason James during their final cutscene together he said something like “it’s hot as hell in here”, is because in that very brief moment, though he couldn’t see it, he could sense and feel the fire that has always surrounded Angela, a young woman abused by her own father. It’s then when the player can imagine the conclusion if either Angela made it out of Silent Hill or she succumbed to her punishment. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t give us that answer, because we, as James, still have to deal with our own past. Legendary game, one of the best horror titles of all time. Let’s hope the remake gets to be as good as the original.
Almost. For the average person silent hill is a totally normal town, not a fog filled ghost town. Thousands of people live there and it even has a tourist industry.
Not finished yet watching your SH1 playthrough, but looking forward to this SH2 of yours, it's the most "chill" horror game of the series for me. 😊✨👏🏻💕
Silent Hill is a mixed bag of literal and psychological. Not everything represents something in your head, but some things do. The town is real and the people you encounter there are real (for the most part), but Otherworld takes the form of each person's own inner demons and trauma. The other characters in this game are also there and going through their own version of Silent Hill with their own trauma. They aren't all directly related to James's past. Silent Hill 2 is sort of stand alone from the series in terms of characters and story and is more on the psychological horror end of the spectrum, while the rest lean more literal. btw, most of the enemies only take 3-4 handgun shots to kill. If you remember from when you played the first game, you can just stomp on them as soon as they fall to the ground. EDIT: Also, I just wanted to say that the extreme darkness in this one is not normal. The game wasn't that dark originally, so I think something might just have been off with the default brightness settings. You should still be able to see well enough without your light.
I played through them both many years ago on Twitch😁 Outlast: ruclips.net/video/QYfH2aefVKc/видео.html&pp=iAQB Outlast 2: ruclips.net/video/gnOhkw0PVkM/видео.html&pp=iAQB Enjoy!!

I could never play silent hill 2 in middle school because it was too scary. My friend and I would pass the controller back and forth saying "no you play it!" Im still too scared
Another awesome playthrough 🎉🎉🙌✨ I'm so excited for this!!
this version is so much better than the enhanced version
i don't know if the ehanced will be good but you don't play it at this moment so it's just ridiculous to judge it now. The team seems to like a lot the original with a small budget. I'll try it and so i'll see if the game respect or not the original.
@@julienhyx94 im not talking about the remake that's coming out
@@Whires ah ok sorry^^
I think emulating the ps2 with enhancements is peak SH
@@awake7586I think they meant the ps3 version that has new voice actors and more, which people do not like as it loses a lot of the charm from the original
I’m SO excited to see how Kastaclysm handles the psychological horror in Silent Hill 2! 🎮 This game is a total mind-bender with its deep story and eerie atmosphere-her reactions to James' journey and the insane twists will be epic! 😱👀 I can already picture her dissecting the symbolism and freaking out over Pyramid Head-this playthrough is going to be legendary! 🔥💀
You can do whatever you want, Maggie .. we're here for it❤
This video was great. Kudos for playing the original before the remake.
That was a truly awesome story! So emotional!
😮😮😮
You should play the remake right after that would be a cool experience back to back. It's such a good remake.
Enjoying the playthrough!
I just finished watching your silent hill 1 playthrough. And found this Im excited to watch this. I hope you do the rest of the silent hills the 3rd game is suppose to be a direct sequel to the first one and I do believe it's harry daughter as the MC
Silent hill 4: the room.
OMG This is the best Halloween ever!!! 😁😁😁 Thank you Maggie!🙏❤
Bro just ruining days out here for cool points
...this video is literally a full playthrough.
2:25:30 Pyramid Head just can't get those mannequins put away.

You make the best videos 😁.
I loooove SH2🧡😌. I can't wait wait to play the remake next week 😍.
Happy thanksgiving kasta
YES! I am so happy about this!!
Just a tip: You can kick the monsters when they are on the floor to finish them( just release the hit button a second to let james change position and then press the hit button again)
damn, new fave channel
Its Halloween month and Maggie is an awesome cosplayer when it comes to her favorite characters!
11:32:08
Perfect timing - that sound just after looking at that.
Awesome your playing Silent Hill 2 this going to be a great Friday
October 14th is my birthday and this is really great to be watching
it here on a nice Friday afternoon. You and Ginger have a blessed
and beautiful weekend thanks my friends.💓🧆🐈:).
So for anyone curious and that didn’t fully understood, I’ll try to explain it:
The whole concept of the town of Silent Hill in this game is that the place is a literal physical manifestation for EVERY person who walks in.
Damn i love this game too much .
The "memo" tab is a great way to check notes you read in future SH games...
Watching cause remake comes out tomorrow. Can't wait. Great playthrough as always
5:07:25 Harry: "Its like we're being pulled to the 'other world', a world of someone's nightmarish delusions come to life."
Thank you for playing this! I'm currently watching and I'm loving your commentary and interpretation of the art. Do you plan on playing the remake?
I'd like to play it one day! Based on my schedule at the moment, I may get around to checking out the remake during the next Spooky Season
@2:25:35 The face I think we all made when we stumbled upon whatever THAT was for the first time lol
"This is the Nightmare. it has to be the Nightmare" It's Reality. For James....Reality IS the Nightmare
"honestly I don't want to but I think I have to?" Silent Hill 2 in a nutshell.
You’re killing me smalls! I’m waiting for some more FF10 plays
I love your play throughs! Keep em coming. Have you played any of the outlast games?
I played through them both many years ago on Twitch😁
Outlast: ruclips.net/video/QYfH2aefVKc/видео.html&pp=iAQB
Outlast 2: ruclips.net/video/gnOhkw0PVkM/видео.html&pp=iAQB
Enjoy!!
'Bad' endings on both SH 1&2, nice!
Nice! It would be awesome to get your perspective when (and hopefully you do) you play the remake.
Another fantastic playthrough Kastaclysm ❤❤😁😁.
Just played through Short Message for the second time, and able to appreciate it even more.
