it takes a good engineer to come up with simple robust engineering to solve problems, most people overthink things and make them much more complex than they need to be. excellent choice of the adjusting pin, loved the cat posing photos.
It can crush a square pipe of, apparent, one mm thickness wall. It's a waste of power with hydraulics. Like adding a JATO to the fastest production car in the world.
I miss a couple of videos and you’ve gone and got all kinds of part bins and other really cool stuff made, must be time for another marathon Make it Extreme video party, love the raised numbers and letters.
Those linear motion lead screw actuators have come a long way and is showing up in many applications. The couple applications I had to work on was there was one used to release bucket pins on a quick attach loader bucket. And the other one was used on a Vermeer SC505 stump grinder to engage and disengage the clutch. I believe they got their debut as a electric powered trailer tongue jack... As far as which is better hydraulic or electric, it all depends on the application. hydraulic would be more bulky with more component parts to make up the hydraulic circuit. Versus the electric version which is compact. The decision to use the electric powered actulator was a good choice. Just install a unit to suit your clamping pressure needs... I believe the guys did a fantastic job with fabricating a piece of shop equipment. And to all the naysayers, build your own make sure you record it with a video and then post it and let us see what you come up with.
6000N is probably the force of the actuator. What everyone seems to be forgetting is that the actuator isn't positioned in line with the clamps. Which on its turn is going to cause friction which will cost you clamping power. Probably not the best possible design.
Try putting the vice on a set of worm gears, it'll increase torque output from the motor and make it quieter so it doesn't sound like it's struggling quite as much, and it'll increase the actual compressive force of the vice so you can grip things more tightly with it.
Seems to me that some people are confusing the purpose of a vise with that of a press. I welcome a remote control vise that frees my hands up to hold an object till it is clamped.
Always love the way you over build everything. extra this and extra that, but the electric linear actuator doesn't seem to measure up to your badass way of building things. you are hands down the hydraulic king on youtube. I know you want to try new things, i get that, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'll shut up now, nice build as always.
Thats awsome! One question, everything is so heavy duty, but the link that all the stress is put on is what looks like a 3/8ths clevis pin. It would seem better matched to use a hydraulic dual action ram from maybe a snow plow or bucket loader that have a much larger clevis pin. Your design in the mechanics looks like it would be well suited for 20 tons. Just a question, not a criticism. Thank you for these awsome videos! You have no shortage of talent.
How much force is the actuator putting out. Im building a hydraulic vise but if I can get more force with your setup and will go with that. Love the vids.
I mean, good effort and quality, but the reason the crushing force is abysmal is due to the use of the wimpy little piston thingy. A real thread and handle or even a thread with a motor attached will give far more force. I'm sure you had already thought of that though!
I already have two cats... So, I am well on my way to having my own DIY/restoration channel. Most of the good channels I watch have cats. Now, I just need a workshop, camera, money, tools, a tripod, and better technical skills.
I have a couple of questions. What brand of hole saws are you using they seem to cut very well? This vice doesn't appear to use a ram so is using magnetics to work? Sorry if I missed something.
вроде хорошо, но упор в губку сверху бы сделать, чтобы губку не выворачивало, а то напряг получается на станину и на планки снизу, которые держат губку.
Purpose of this vice is not be very powerful, but helpful to hold some bigger (long) objects. It can be modified later (stronger actuator added, hydraulic).
There's people you want around you during a zombie apocalypse and you sir are one of my chosen to restore humanity
P.S. Hats off to you for scratch building anything without a blueprint. Thanks for sharing your passion with us.

Wouldn't one of your hydraulic cylinders be more powerful?
It's a vise not a press
@@mitchellpatterson3323 Actually your right, sorry my bad. Or else it would just crush the stuff instead of just firmly holding them.

Best can crusher ever.
I'm loving the new fast paced format, much more enjoyable! Also very good video quality. Great work guys!
I can't WAIT for 0100, and I have NO IDEA what it may be, but I know it'll BE EXTREME ! Thanks for all your creative genius.
Man oh man, can't wait for machine #0100.
i hope that the #0100 is a big machine
Un-freeken-real, an electric vice which has some pinch to it also.Great build guys. . . . waiting on the next adventure now from you.
Que bonito trabajo hiciste amigo.....congratulations
Another quality build!

I wondered if it'd have enough clamping pressure, clearly it does. Bravo!
Purpose of this vice is not to be very powerful, but helpful to hold some bigger (long) objects.

Да, для размера тисков они слишком мягкие и слабые

YES. Stupid idiots complain, that this is too weak, and useless. They are useless beings.
You guys do the coolest stuff. I want to go to Cyprus someday to see your shop!
Great job, well done, that's a vise like that I'd need.

Love the tiny vise on the monster vise at 4:08 😆
Good idea
Does a hydraulic cilinder also fit in there?
And awesome work as always
Yes it can be added later if you need more force (idiots complaining in the comments, that this vise is weak).
How much do you wanna bet he's gonna stick a home made hydraulic ram in it, in his next video.. great build man!!💪
Cant it's not built for it.

What kind of welding equipment is that? Is It some kind of TIG?

I don't think that will be a problem because it hasn't got enough power to destroy itself.
what brand are those blue clamps
Super nice build. Although I would have loved to see a hydraulic system with a pressure regulator. You could set the exact clamping force easily.
Purpose of this vice is not be very powerful, but helpful to hold some bigger (long) objects. It can be modified later (stronger actuator added, hydraulic).
