  • Multfunction display rattling and squeaking. Extremely annoying!
I fixed it with 3M Friction Tape I bought at Home Depot. You have to open up the transparent cover and put the tape over the (7) points where it connects onto the MFD itself. Then add friction tape where ever else you think is necessary to mitigate the rattle and squeaks while it's open.

That dash rattle is driving me nuts! The noise varies with the cabin temperature. I'll tackle this one once the weather warms up. Good video

Ha, I just took apart my center dash area of my 2014 Forester XT Touring this last weekend to try and fix some rattles and squeaks. I also noticed that the cover of the MFD readily squeaked and added the same 3M anti-squeak tape to silence it. I also noticed that the MFD cowling is composed of two plastic parts that snap together. In my case they seems to squeak when pressure was applied to the them so I separated the two halves and added both 3M tape and felt tape to places where the plastic could vibrate/squeak.
While this work had silenced the squeaks and buzzes I still have a rattle coming from the front dash area, possibly from the A-pillar covers. Hence, it was good to see your other video demonstrating the possible source of this noise. I'll be tackling that area next.

Wow, I had assumed the squeaks were coming from the top cover, not the transparent housing as well. I guess I need to take it apart. I got a 2016 premium 8 months ago and the rattles have been making me so mad. My '03 Forester had no rattles of any kind. Thank you for this video!

That is the one thing i hate about our forester is all the rattles. The interior of these is sub-par.
