  • Is it a good idea to give someone you love a cleaning appliance? Vacuums aren't very romantic gifts, are they? Yet, the Bissell Natural Sweep seems like a nice gift idea. That's why it's part of the Twelve Days of Christmas playlist.
    There are just so many nice advantages of the Bissell sweeper. It's not noisy like a vacuum cleaner. It doesn't need batteries like a cordless vacuum cleaner, and the Bissell sweeper doesn't use electricity. That means there aren't any power cords either
    Yet, can the Bissell Natural Sweeper be good alternative to a vacuum cleaner? In other words, can the Bissell Natural Sweep actually clean the floors - including carpeted floors? That's what this video is about. It's an unboxing of the sweeper and then it is tested throughout the house. All types of rooms were cleaned… kitchen, living room, bedroom, basement, and even the garage!

    One thing that I didn't mention in the video is that I'm concerned about the handle. In the reviews on Amazon, I saw a lot of pictures where it looked like the joint connecting the stick snapped. So, hopefully this little cleaning gadget is durable. It's disappointing having to replace vacuums every few years.

      It's a pretty low tech gadget. The handle broke, but I fixed it.

    I have one of these at work and it's brand new and the handle and the stick constantly come unscrewed. Multiple times of fixing with other coworkers.. Maybe they are stripped out, but it's properly put together and it's new. Trying a new one at work and I'm going to see if it has the same problem.

      I did have a problem with the handle. One of the sections just popped off. The threads wouldn't hold it. So, I glued the pieces together and it's been fine.
      I was thinking of using black electric tape, like how I used to wrap hockey sticks, but the glue was good enough. I don't use the sweeper that often, and I've been trying to be gentle with the stick, but it's been OK even with that minor problem.

    I love this Sweeper. I wanted to know how to clean the interior where the brush is. How do I clean the brush? I know I can open the door to cut hair from the brush but there should be a better way to clean inside the Sweeper.

      The user manual is available on the Amazon listing. It says, “The sweeper case will bow slightly to allow the center brush rolls to be removed for cleaning.” …but I haven't done that.
      When I was first testing the sweeper, I tried to remove the brushes, but I stopped as I wasn't sure if I was going to break the sweeper.

    How well would this pick up your cat litter on your white area rug?? I am looking to buy for this specific reason. Does it leave any behind?

      I just ran a test and I was surprised. I don't have any really thick rugs, so we're not talking about 1970s style shag carpet… not even close actually.
      But basically the test was on carpet-like mat that's near a door. I tossed some kitty litter on top… thinking I'd have to do multiple passes… but in just one pass it got a lot of the kitty litter.
      Crunch, crunch, crunch! 😸
      I did some more passes. It looked clean, but the sweeper might not be able to get every last bit though. I flipped the mat over and some stuff fell out. Although, that might have been from the other side of the mat too, I didn't sweep the whole thing. Some of what fell out didn't look like kitty litter. If you look at the end of this video… 5:23 …that's the mat I used for this test.
      However, the way the litter boxes are setup in the house is to limit the travel of kitty litter. At 5:08 in the video, there's a mat in front of the litter box. That's to catch litter that falls off the cat as it leaves the box.
      Basically, the sweeper has been reducing the need to use a vacuum cleaner, but it doesn't completely eliminate it. Although, in this scenario, I think a wet-vac becomes more useful. The sweeper does light cleaning, then every so often the mats get a good cleaning.
      Even with that, carpet mats don't last long in this house. The cats ruin them. 😼
      Also, the handle already broke. One section ripped apart from the threads. I used some glue to put it back together. It's holding for now, but I'm thinking of wrapping the whole thing in electrical tape, like a hockey stick. 😄

      In a long one-floor house, this thing could be nice.
      When writing the script for this video, I was imagining a cabin without power. Perhaps a standard broom would be better in that situation, but the Bissell sweeper is nice because I didn't need a dust pan. It is the dust pan. 😄
      I'm not sure if the sweeper can completely replace a vacuum. I suppose it depends on the environment. With all hard floors, the Bissell and a mop might be enough.

    How about ... tiny dust particles?

    • @PhoticsTV
      @PhoticsTV  28 дней назад +1

      From what I've seen, a lot of dust certainly falls out when emptying it! 😄
      The closest example I can think of was a bare basement floor. It was fairly dusty from construction. If I was wearing socks, it would leave footprints through the house. Then one day, I decided to use the sweeper in that area. Since then, it's not so bad. I'm not sure if it's because of the sweeper. I was wondering if I simply tracked all of the dust out of that room with my socks. 😏
      However, mopping is still a regular part of cleaning. This thing doesn't get absolutely everything, but it's been nice for keeping the floor cleaner. I don't remember the last time the vacuum was used to clean the floors and mopping is not too frequent.
      I'm looking at the floor right now. I think I'm going to clean it up a bit. 😄

      @@PhoticsTV Thanks for explaining that, and the feeling that I get it's hit and miss for that purpose - mainly carpets. I'm lazy and I'm trying to avoid both vacuum and mop. ☺ And with just dust and no crumbs I imagine the emptying will be less frequent too.

    • @PhoticsTV
      @PhoticsTV  28 дней назад +1

      @@ColtraneTaylor I usually empty it after every time I use it, as I suspect it works better when not full. The thing collects a surprising amount of dirt. Just now, I didn't think the floor was that bad. But when I emptied the two containers, lots of stuff fell out..
      The sweeper itself can get pretty dusty too.

      I'm not sure what you're highlighting. That's the “No Electricity” part of the video, which is a nice feature of the sweeper. I don't have to worry about dead batteries. I suppose the sweeper is something of a prepper item too. If I had an off-grid cabin, I'd want to keep it clean. 😄
